Came here from tiktok. I have seen a lot of people on the app just use this woman's voice as a sound to make content and disregard the context of the sound. This case sheds light on on the widespread continental plague of domestic violence stemming from cultures and traditions based on misogyny. There isn't a simple way for curbing this practice except putting into frame a credible system of educating men on new social reform and to educate the younger generations of african men on gender equality. I also want to champion the vast number of women across the world represented by this courageous mother, who put their lives on the line for the betterment of the childrens' futures. It is always the mothers' love that is unconditional and incomparable to no other.

Unfortunately the system in Nigeria is such that there is no such thing as insurance which should cover instances like this. If I start telling you my own story you will be very surprised. I don’t know why there is this habit of defending badly behaved men every time an episode airs. Challenges in life come up, how we respond to it counts and builds character - that is what I learnt from my own experience. I know what it is to start again from nothing. He lost his business but because of the way he responded to the hardship, he also lost his family!

People who start from the scratch to get somewhere without anyone support,if anything happens they are going back to the trenches. Women should try as much as helping their husband. @@nzecollins1434 Well you don't need to know my gender, whether am a woman or a man has nothing to do with my comments, am not really particular about his drinking, am more concerned about him beating her, whether his business got burnt down doesn't give him the right to raise his hands on her, so because of what happened to his shop that's why he should be bringing in women to sleep with on their matrimonial bed, even telling his girlfriend to beat his wife, nothing can justify his behaviour towards her. The woman was selling pure water, it's not as if she wasn't doing anything to feed the family. Marriage is not a do or die affair, I have female children I wouldn't want any man to lay their hands on my daughters no matter what he's going through.
The husband isn't apologetic, he just figured out that he needs a wife to do the house chores (cooking, feeding, cleaning,washing etc) that's why after a tiring 2 years he needs her back. I wish people can help her with good funds for business so she can be independent with less stress and move on with her life.

After watching this here, I think those that came up with meme and created jokes out of this owe this lady an apology. This is someone's pain she is going through. What she needs now is help to set up something to take care of her kids and mum if possible, not to return to the man because from what I am seeing here that man will do worst if she returns. As soon as the judge said ‘but he is apologetic’ I couldn’t complete watching. This kind of behavior is why we see women die in their marriages. If he loses the little work he has again, there is no guarantee that he has healed from whatever was doing him before and nothing to stop him from going back to the way he was. It amazes me how we men go from being the loving and providing husband to scary monsters in our families especially after experiencing hardship. I mean hard times are bound to come up as a man, and you have to show how courageous you’re as a man to get up and get going. I really respect the decision of the Judge let’s await them after 4 months. And I promise never to laugh at this soundtrack anymore, the woman went though a lot, her body language when she was narrating her own side of the story says it all and I really do feel sorry for real. One thing people need to understand is that it is okay for a marriage to end. Not all marriages are meant to last forever. Marriages expire and people need to move on, sentiments and religious views aside, and if we should consider religious views there is a place for divorce in EVERY religion. This case was very emotional. She speaks so well and eloquent.
“Looking at the statement he wrote” it’s easy to write than to act. He should act like he is sorry, he should get a stable job, get his life back together this judge really spoke without sense I really wish I could meet her.
After all what he has done to her a simple sorry cannot solve matters at all he needs to gain grounds. If even he is truly sorry he may just miss the idea of having a wife now that he doesn’t have money to cater for his “women”. But for his wife she loved him unconditionally so she will also strive to Make things and work.
I strongly suggest she should not go back,she is doing well in her own.

I'm disappointed in this judgement.
It's not fair at all. The judge should have addressed the man's excesses properly. Now he will go home thinking there was nothing wrong with him hitting her and defiling their marriage. I agree with all who say he is not apologetic. He doesn't look or sound it. He had no money for a call card but he had money for women and drinks.. Who are we kidding here? For all I care, this man has just been pampered by the judge and he will do it again.
Counselling is not in my opinion, the best solution at this point. If he wants her back, he should work hard to get her back. She deserves better!
Why? The judge asked the woman herself if she wanted to return to her husband, she said yes. And the whole point of the court case was reconciliation not divorce. She simply said, “oya attend counseling for 4 months. After that come back let’s plan the way forward.” She did not tell the woman to go back to him immediately. The realities of life especially for those who are as obviously poor as this couple, are quite different than what you may be experiencing. Imagine having to take care of 3 kids on the meager earnings you get from selling pure water, living below the poverty line. If her husband is able to really turn his life around in the coming months the good for her 👍🏽.. she left once, she can always leave again.

She should have discouraged marriage until the daughter had financial stability. Especially a marriage to such a man as this one.
