As someone who has hit rock bottom, this particular song resonates deep within me. The conclusion is so heartwrenching, yet comforting. It's like a painless, peaceful death. An escape from heartbreak. A final goodbye. The depth and pure emotion that this song evokes in nearly indescribable. However, you have captured each final triumphant crescendo and slow, bittersweet decrescendo with utmost accuracy. You have my sincerest thanks, this is one of the most gorgeous arrangements I have ever heard.

Josh Cohen when you publish the sheet music, are you going to arrange this without the 10ths? I think I even saw a minor 11th in there. You don’t want to alienate 80% of pianists. Yes, those chords can be arpeggiated but most will not bother. Perhaps include an alternative chord as an ossia?

I made a comment about a year ago calling this the best MPS cover in my opinion. However hearing this today made me realize it's my favorite cover of any song period. Mr. Cohen this was so beautiful. I like that it captured the feeling of unsettledness throughout and the lack of solid conclusion at the end. I did a piano + singing version of this song for my senior year talent show where I tried to emulate the harps for the second verse and I think I like what you did in place of them better.

After almost a year together, my girlfriend left me for only what I'm assuming is someone better. I tried to fight for our relationship, salvage anything to repair, but she was having none of it. I thought the feelings of loneliness were gone when I met her, that she was gonna be different from the other people. Here I am now, laying in a dark house by myself, listening to this. Every intrusive thought, every bad emotion, every memory of us just hitting me like a truck, I'm using every bit of willpower I've got left to not try anything drastic. I'm at least a little happy that she's happier now. And this song at least helps a little, but I'll never be the same.

Okay, I'm going to be a contrarian here.
I really like what you've done with the song here from a pure musical standpoint. It's beautiful. However, I think in the way you've retooled this song and played it, it loses a ton of emotional impact for me. I always remembered this song for, while being played on harps and organs, being extremely solemn and depressed, even hinting at suicide with lines like "cheap wine and sleeping pills / help me get back to your arms" and "I will see you in the next life". I don't quite feel that from this song. If you just wanted to respect the music for music's sake, then by all means this is beautiful! However, I found this doesn't have the same impact as a lot of your other covers like, for example, The Great Gig In The Sky does, where you successfully transfer over the lead singer's emotion into song. By no means do I hate this - quite the opposite! I'm just offering constructive feedback!
Hey Zoey, I totally know what you mean here, and thanks for the constructive feedback. Personally, I never had strong solemn feelings when listening to this tune, despite the obvious symbolic nature of the song. I could have made this version a lot more depressing to listen to, but opted to play it in a more beautiful and uplifting light. Appreciate the thoughts though ✌️
