I'm in NJ so it usually gets warm enough a few days after snow so that I can give my car a proper wash. This includes about 10min in hitting the undercarriage.
Brian I've learned so much from watching your channel. I started detailing and polishing before UA-cam, but my skills have greatly improved especially by following your example and soaking in everything you offer for advice. When you were in Jamie's podcast a few weeks ago I wouldn't have missed that for anything. Thank you for the time you've taken for everyone. I don't know how you find the time to make videos and respond to them and your Facebook group.
I have a roller that attaches to my pressure washer that sprays upwards to wash the undercarriage of my cars. So much gunk comes off the undercarriage in the winter that it forms a mud slick down my driveway!
Crap! I just rinsed the salt off my car 2 days ago! Thank you so much Brian. I've learned so much from you. I love your videos. The road salt here in NJ is out of control. Thank you so much for this video. I truly appreciate the information you provide & can only imagine how much work it is. Thanks again. Be well my friend.
Salt is a major problem here in Minnesota as well😬 I've always used salt gone.. didn't know it left a protective film afterwards.. I will be trying Eastwood as soon as the gallon of SG is all gone😁👍🏻
Brine is horrible! Especially looks bad on a dark colored vehicle! I haven't used BC 7 but I tried BC3. Very impressed with gloss and water behavior. Everything I've seen with BC 7 looks amazing! Great video
We only have rock salt here in upstate New York. No brine. I spray Salt Away on the undercarriage only. I wait till April to spray. Our roads are gray with salt all winter unless it snows. Then they're just white till the salt truck does its thing.
I have had the opportunity to coat may cars ,and trucks with BC7. Every single time I am amazed how beautiful they turn out! Even today I did the water test on a recent job, and I walked away just blown away!!! Thank you so much for everything you have taught me! Eamon in Oregon
Literally makes me want to yackkk looking at my 2021 RAM Limited i bought used for still a pretty penny. Especially on the frame rails and nooks and cranny’s you cant get to nearly as well, such as rockers, cab corners, bed frame support tubes, cab/ bed mounts etc. thanks for the tips! Undercoating my truck with the best stuff i can find asap in the spring. I also find in mass produced trucks now any crappy weld seems on the frame is literally a magnet for rust because road salt and water mixed splashes up in there and is a mother to get out and get to
That probably is a must-have chemical for us in the snow belt. I didn't know you bought a truck? Nice. Does Sissy gubber up her side window? Lol. Good video. Keep them coming! Thank you Brian.
There are proportioning valves that can be used with a garden hose or irrigation system such as was in the public Rose Garden where I was a gardener for a few years. I think called a "Brass Hozon" maybe made by Dram It would be possible to mix up a concentration of the desalting product and feed it from, say,a 5 gallon bucket through a hose delivering wash or rinse water to a contaminated car. Including using a water wand to spray the undercarriage.
Nerta Diamond Active foam wash. Super strong, stronger than koch chemie green star and just as safe, and super cheap in bulk. Then I mix up boiled linseed oil 50/50 with white spirits (also cheap and in bulk) and put it in a spray bottle. I spray the undercarriage with it and leave to dry for 24 hours. Should protect you for 6 months.
Excellent video as I live in Nashville and do not receive a lot of snow. This is helpful for me when it does snow. I definitely need a detail keg for rinseless wash. I appreciate all of your videos and learn something from all your videos! Thank you for all you do I definitely appreciate you!
I'm also in Nashville. They put down brine a few times every winter. Even at the chance of snow I'll see those pesky white lines on the interstates. My favorite is when they put it down knowing it's going to rain before ever turning to snow/sleet.
Great content. I may try this on the undercarriage every now and then in the winter. Best thing I have found (for the body, not frame) is to squirt a bit of transmission fluid once a year throw that square hole on the top of your bedside so it seeps into the spot welded steal of the quarter and the wheel well. Pull the trim on the door sills and squirt enough in there so you can see it drain out the front and rear drain holes. Front fenders might require drilling a couple of holes. Started getting some rust on my old dodge and that stopped it completely. Best thing I have found for the frame is the black colored fluid film once a year.
Here in the Mid West that brine will dissolve chrome! It's DUMPED laid & sprayed on bridges & hill's like the seller of the acid/brine is the state & counties cousin if ya know what I mean.
How do we know it works? Long term test? Side by side on sample metals? What is the neutralizer made from? What does that chemical do to other parts and surfaces?
Great video Brian. I did the same thing to my truck yesterday. Living in Pittsburgh, I understand what you're going through. When I purchased my 21 Ram Rebel, the first thing I dd was had it completely rustproofed using New Hampshire Oil Undercoating (NHOU). I think a good video would be what are your thoughts on rustproofing? If you have any advice on what to use and what not to use. Thanks for all you do for the detailing community!
Brian, I’ve noticed you and most pro detailers don’t seem to use any product to keep the rotors from rusting. Why is that and why don’t more companies make a product for it? It drives me nuts to have the rotors rust after washing and then get the rust dust on my freshly cleaned wheels on the first drive afterwards. Hyde’s has worked well for years now and I’m currently testing Atom-Mac.
Would using an acidic car soap like Carpro Descale work the same as the Eastwood? I undercoat my car with Woolwax late fall and don’t worry about it all winter even though they use rock salt here.
i mean... it seems like a regular basic wash (with car soap) would have gotten the exact same results... Pointless to "neutralize" the salt with a super-special-magic "salt neutralizer" when basic soap & water would simply wash the salt away. Change my mind.
When vehicles were positive + ground the body shells lasted longer but the batteries not so much. So now with Negative grounding the batteries last longer but the bodywork less..
Here’s what I do: I run my truck through automatic car wash which has undercarriage wash and rust preventing treatment. I buy unlimited monthly washes for about $39 so I can literally wash daily. This cleaning regimen works great because I do not want to wash my truck in my driveway in freezing temperatures. So far, not even a hint of rust.
I don't think anything will "neutralize" sodium chloride or sodium chloride solution in water but it might be possible to affect the "cation exchange" situation such that it easily rinses off of the surfaces rather than tending to stay there in some amount even in the face of rinsing with ordinary water. (Some other cation replacing the sodium that is non corrosive?)
Wonder how the batteries on ev’s will fair with road salt? I will never own one, but at 20K plus to replace them it’ll be interesting to find out in the long run.
Brian, what’s your take on lanolin-based products (like surface shield or fluid film) for the underbody? I’ve seen several videos out there on this, decided to do it to my truck, and seems like a good Step 1 for protecting the frame. Maybe a combination of this Easton product would be a great Step 2? Or do you prefer the Easton as your main and only option?
I have a 2007 Volvo xc 90 It has lived its whole life outside 24/7 in the Northeast It has no rust Why ? It was zinc coated when manufactured It should be a law that all cars are built this way.
How do you fight Road Salt (brine) during winter months?
I'm in NJ so it usually gets warm enough a few days after snow so that I can give my car a proper wash. This includes about 10min in hitting the undercarriage.
Palm Beach County Florida area here so no concerns about road salt (thank goodness).
My way? I don't drive after the snow days until the area seems clean again. LOL
Salt away
Eastwood/salt off
Living in Massachusetts this is a once a week mandatory 👍👍

I moved to the South. Took care of that problem.

This will be useful in my area, Sherbrooke Quebec
A lubrication pit would come in real handy for the underside process

Going to have to try this stuff. Salt is all over here in northeast pa.

Wish I had known about salt neutralization products years ago. My truck has taken a big hit moving to a metro area 😢
Can’t wait to use BC7 and your wheel coating. Waiting for the weather to break here.
Awesome video and content good friend
Getting similar results from BC3. That salt neutralizer is awesome.
Great content. I may try this on the undercarriage every now and then in the winter.

Goodness look at that beading! I JUST received a new bottle of BC1, but I certainly want to try out BC7.
Thank you for all your education you share

Thank u Brian I been wanting to try bc7!! Thanks for coaxing me!! 😆
This video has helped me. Thumbs up.
Always enjoy the content!
Great video thanks!!
Does Sissy ride in this truck? Or does she still have the Escalade?
Your content is important to me. Practical and helpful

Tried the discount code salt does not work says
After fixing rust multiple times on my old 95, I'm certainly glad my 2015 F150 won't rust!
Would this Eastwood product be good for traffic film?
Brother you need to get a lift😂 Seeing you kneeling down like that hurts my knees😱
Thanks for the advice 👍✌️☮️
Thank you for a great video! I will try this method out soon.

Hi Brian, thinking on picking this up. Do you know the PH of this product?

Thank you

Brian, just one question: where does all the water from the pressure washer (especially when you rinse) go??
Brian, are those coin surface liners under the truck tiles or rolls?
I live in PA as well cam you use s rinsless wash to rinse off and then wash the vehicle? Or is the standard rinse then hand wash process preferred?
NE Ohio here.. liquid brine sucks.. I get an account at a touchless auto car wash in the winter.
Road salts aren’t used where I live. Don’t have to worry about seasonal tires either. All season or summer tires work all year round.😁
Krown or Rust check.
These trucks are aluminum to prevent rust. Im down in Delco.. I try to rinse off my 2022 RST as quick as possible.
They are aluminum because its lighter.

You would have a mental breakdown if you saw how dirty vehicles get in Canadian winters...
I have a 2007 Volvo xc 90
It has lived its whole life outside 24/7 in the Northeast
It has no rust
Why ?
It was zinc coated when manufactured
It should be a law that all cars are built this way.
Remember, it's a pickup truck, not a Rolls.
You bought GM and your crying about rust ? Whoops .
