I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had Bell’s palsy twice. Once when I was 14 and second time at 17. I am 20 yearsold now. Ive fought through serious depression. Covid lockdown made things worse. Im still fighting to be the best version of my self since. Its permanent in my life now. I am also running now because I gained intense weight because of my depression. I am feeling abit better now… with that being said. Bells Palsy depression needs to be more aware. Alot of people have suicidal thoughts at the lowest points. But because its not recognised enough its not taken seriously.
I had bells palsy over 7 years ago and I'm left with nerve damage.. If I have a headache my face still gets sore, more than usual.. If I'm tired the droop shows more and my left side In general is more droopy or doesn't work like before the bells palsy.
I'm sorry to hear about your condition. I have several patients like your case. Acupuncture can help with the droop. It may not completely resolve it but it can manage it on a monthly basis with treatment.
This is the second month, with bels palsy. It started on 23.08.20223. The last 4 days, I have started with acupuncture? How long should i go to acupuncture?
I have been suffering from bell's palsey, since 01/09/2023, and I started accupuncture in November, 3 days a week, I have seen a good improvement, now I can close my eyes, raise my eyebrows, but I still have problems with my upper lips, could accupuncture still help me? or should I start Laser? thanks in advance
That’s good to hear it helped. Ideally I would combine laser and acupuncture for helping the remaining issues. Is the acupuncturist treating the points around the side of your mouth and lower cheek region?
@@drtoddsullivan Yes, it does, but it takes a long time to get a result. I've been ill for 4 months and 16 days, and I'm afraid I won't get my smile back.now i do accupuncture 1 day a week

Hi Doc. Todd. Last December 4, when i brush my tooth and then spit water, I feel different. Then I look at the mirror and find out that i can't close my left eye. So, i searched on google what this symptoms was. And i found out that it is a bell's palsy. So can you help me treat this kind of condition? I'm very worried for myself.
@@yawmarfo1555 the longer you wait to receive treatment the longer it takes to resolve. If you received treatment soon after it begins it can resolve in a day or week. If you wait 3-4 months to receive treatment it can a month or more of treatment to resolve the condition.
Yes it can work on long term Bell’s Palsy. It may never go away completely but it can be managed. I have several chronic cases that come in once a month or quarter to keep their symptoms under control.
@@drtoddsullivan its been 7 years i had it. I can still see my left side is a bit droopy then the right. Will accupunture and facial exercises help now to bring back symmetry or is it too late??
Hi Dr. Todd, I got a Bell’s palsy 4weeks ago and now I feel normal but still my mouth slight twist in Rt. Side. I think this problem can be solve from acupuncture. Today, I did 1st acupuncture session. It was okay but I’m wandering in one question, hope you will help me out. Dr. put needles 1st on legs, Lt) hand and face. When he put needles on face he took off after 1-3mins. The rest needles, he left for 15 mins. When I asked Dr. why do take off so quickly he said face nerve narrow. Dr.Todd, is it okay to do. How effective will it be? In your video, you kept for 15-20 mins. Please suggest me, will greatly appreciate. Thank you
Hi Deena, The treatment protocol will still work the way the doctor performed it. In my experience 15-20 minutes is the most effective but I know several practitioners that only keep the needles in a few minutes. Both ways will help stimulate the acupuncture points. The reason the other needles where kept in longer is because those acupuncture points are further away from the problem and they need longer treatment time to maximize the effectiveness. Again it’s more personal preference on how to perform the protocol. I hope your condition resolves quickly.

Yes it will help. The longer you wait to receive treatment it may slow the healing process. Hope it’s a quick recovery for you.

If it began in August I would give it 3-4 weeks of treatment to give it an honest trial.
Does this also work on someone who actually HAS Bell's Palsy....?
