happy wednesday! which apartment was your favorite? 🙂 [1/9/2023] DISCLAIMER: my personal budget was $1.5k-$2k/mo and my boyfriend's was the same, which is why ~cumulatively~ we were looking at $3k-$4k apartments! price is definitely dependent on the specific locations we looked at so it can get pretty steep in more desired neighborhoods / closer to manhattan. but it's definitely do-able to get an apartment lower than this price in or outside of the city. for the proximity to our workplace and personal wants with the apartment, this is just the price point that we settled on. I hope this doesn't discourage anyone from moving into the city or with their apartment hunt, NYC housing is tough but definitely manageable if you're looking at different neighborhoods/amenities/etc! (also for those of y'all interested in the moving series, here's a link to the playlist! ua-cam.com/play/PLBoB2yiti-Q7hfROtOKcb0qMACuzGCxhs.html)
I'm always worried when I see these videos of NY apartment hunting and then seeing comments that think that all prices here are like what the people in the video are looking for. It's so not true that "4,000 is on the low end" for what they're looking for!!! It's BONKERS to me!! I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, close to the park, living room huge enough to fit a living room and office area, huge bedroom, and the rent is sub 2,000 at like 1,960. THIS is the lower end for this size. Yeah, typically it can be a bit more, but like mid 2k prices!! It really does not have to be over 4k especially if people are looking in Brooklyn.
no fr these new york videos are always insane to me because i live in florida with a family of five. we live in a four bedroom two bathroom house for only $2700 a month… it’s so bizarre to me how rent differs state to state.
I live outside the US and every time I watch a video like this makes me appreciate the fact that in Costa Rica we don't have this home rent system, although being able to look at different apartments before choosing is nice. Here the amount that is mentioned in the post is the one that is paid, though negotiations can happen; also the process to actually rent the place happens way quicker and I don't have to wait for someone to accept, instead I just mention that I agree to rent the place and the contract can be signed on the spot or a couple of days later.
this video format is so fun& creative with sneak peaks pre-apartment tour. i could tell sarah was having fun filming too which is so lovely ❤️❤️ congrats on the new space!
The apartment you choose, is so beautiful! I loved the windows it makes the living space so bright and happy for the plants, you definitely made the right choice! :D
This is so realistic and I'm in doubt when I watch TikTok's vids of NYC good appts for low rent. I had finally caved in for a 3.3k 1bhk with washer/dryer in building in heights. This video makes me feel a little better that I'm not overpaying as I had to tour virtually and was not too familiar with the market.
@Alexis I just reached Brooklyn after the entire weekend of driving from Chicago with my husky. So far, I love it, and it is in a pretty good location according to the locals. Thank you for your message.
The downtown Brooklyn apartment for $3860 , I think Mai Pham is in that building ! I love all the apartments in new York , absolutely beautiful . Your final choice was a great choice .
Great choice! For that price it's a steal. You asked Sarah in one of your previous videos for suggestion about where to place your plants. One of ideas which immediately popped on my mind is if you could hang or fix sort of a plank or bench for plants right above balcony doors? Another question I have for this video is about something I particularly pay attention with respect to assessing apartments, and that is noise levels. Older housing is known for having paper thin walls and ceilings which do not insulate noise. For that short period you guys spent in your new place, do you hear noise from your neighbors? Thanks and good luck!
omg the turtle bay apartment with the greenhouse windows... i've actually seen it so many times on my cab rides and was always so curious about it. i can't believe you toured the unit. that window nook is my dream, and i LOVE loft bedroom layouts
Turtle Bay was without a doubt my fav, but I've been manifesting a NYC apartment with that style windows. So beautiful to see one in pseudo-person, thank you for sharing the tour! Did that apartment have a private rooftop space?
Thank you so much for taking us through NY and through your apartment! I like how you went to a new background while describing each apartment :) I don't even live in NY, but I sincerely appreciate your transparency
Painters, anyway, want north-facing studios only. That gives the most consistent color light throughout the day. But half the people who don't paint for a living probably prefer a sunny room to paint in, just like most people. The layout of the apartment you chose looks fun and practical. Forty years ago, when I lived in New York for ten years, apartment/condo hunting was still difficult. It has always been a hard market and the only real bargains were rent-controlled apartments. A friend of mine paid $80/month for his in the Village, and that rent was funny back then, too. His apartment was dumpy though.
19:00 THE KITCHENNNNNNN OMFG my mom and I are remodeling my bathroom at home soon (since it's basically original from when the house was built in the 80s) and I'm going with a navy theme with gold accents so this kitchen made me SWOON
Beautiful apartment, congratulations I know that has to be a relief. But on the flip side can everyone start writing their representatives about rent prices and housing? This sh$t is out of control! I live in SW fl and our apartment prices for a 2 bed are 3000 and up. We don’t even make the salaries that NY makes. Nobody should be living to just pay rent.
I live in Denmark, 50 km, south from Copenhagen downtown. 10 minutes by car to the beach, 10 minutes to a large forest where I have my horse. My apartment is 900 sq ft. new modern apartment. Rent for one month = $1153 + heating $100.. Greetings from Denmark. 😁
I live for these videos because I could never live in the city with all of my animal babies (also the prices for rent are INSANE in NYC) but it is so cool to see how other people live 🖤 new subscriber here
I could never live in NYC, Sydney prices are already a bit of a killer and I pay the USD equivalent of $1705 a month for my luxury apartment, newly built, 2 bed 1 bath, gym and pool amenities and 24/7 concierge.
Hi Sarah - this was very helpful for me! I'm about to go through the process myself! 😁 ---- I hope to make a video that is impressive as yours! Keep up the great work! ⭐
Saw you in the doha video! Didn’t expect to see you in the new house of ashley, jed, luke isa and kelly😮 What app are you using to record your voice during the video?
anyone in the comments who wants to move to NY: $4000 is not LOW you can absolutely find a great place for less, it'll just be way smaller than this place lmao and won't be a "luxury building" overall just don't freak out!
That's nuts to submit an offer to pay more rent than the asking price. Basically, you're paying to burn more money that won't go into equity or your own savings just to temporarily live someplace. Why not take the extra money, save it, and use that towards a mortgage in Jersey and take the train in?
My parents mortgage is less than $3.5k per month😮, for the amount New Yorkers spend on rent they could save for a down payment on a house and buy a house! Y’all are paying the landlords mortgage for them 😂
I love how you moved around to show us different snippets of your new place . The editing was so good on this video. Your apartment is one of the best imo and such a great price!!
I live in NYC, please don’t get the idea that all “nice” 1-2 bedroom units are $3.5k and up, believe me you can find a very nice 2 bed 2 bath apartment in NYC for less than $3.5k, but when you’re looking in trendy neighborhoods you’re paying a high price
happy wednesday! which apartment was your favorite? 🙂

:) hi
apartment 10 is hands down the best one. holding out pays off!
Apartment 9 is my favorite!
9 and 10!!
7!!
Prices in NY are so surreal
How do people actually afford it from uk here
but the maximum balance is higher so it doesn't matter

can we just take a moment to appreciate how good that intro was?!
Omg yesss❤
So good ❤
The best i saw in a while

People on tiktok def lie!! Don’t think you’re overpaying, especially if you’re loving the apartment

This format was fun! You definitely went with the best one ❤️
beyond obsessed with the fourth apt, the windowwwwsssss
i love apartment 9. that space and that view outside sold me
Great choice! For that price it's a steal.

Apartment hunting could be so stressful but your video is so chilling and your explanation is very clear! love it ~
I loved the one with the heated floors. It felt homey and that’s what I like.
that blue kitchen pent house one was sooo pretty!! your new place looks amazing too!! congats :))
omg the turtle bay apartment with the greenhouse windows... i've actually seen it so many times on my cab rides and was always so curious about it. i can't believe you toured the unit. that window nook is my dream, and i LOVE loft bedroom layouts

All I can think ab is that song that goes make his pockets hurt” except it’s more like “make my pockets hurt”
Apartment 8 is absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much for taking us through NY and through your apartment! I like how you went to a new background while describing each apartment :) I don't even live in NY, but I sincerely appreciate your transparency
omg the editing on this video is PHENOMENAL!!!! but the prices on these apartments are terrifying x_x
I lived in the second apt building she showed circa 2018-2020. That was my favorite apt ever in NYC.
Apartment #2 - Downtown Brooklyn, NY apartment (with the panoramic view)

Another fantastic video. The price on your apartment is great for two people! You know how to find good deals.
I toured apt 5 too haha; broker's fee was outrageous
Awesome video! Each apartment all had great potential! However, I think the apartment you chose fits you and James! 🤗
Hello Sis had been waiting for you !!
Wow apt 2 was amazing!! I would've sacrificed a little bit of living room space for all the amenities and the price!
You're giving me hope for my upcoming apartment hunt!
19:00 THE KITCHENNNNNNN OMFG my mom and I are remodeling my bathroom at home soon (since it's basically original from when the house was built in the 80s) and I'm going with a navy theme with gold accents so this kitchen made me SWOON
omg I hope this is not weird but you have such a nice podcast voice
Appartement 2 is my favourite, I would probably just out the coach looking outwards because the windows are gorgeous
i'm not from USA so i didn't understand the prices help
it's like 4k per month?
Yes
I loved the one with the "greenhouse" windows!!!!!!!
Congrats on new place.
my favourite part was the "sleeping boyfriend" edit
I am IN LOVE with apartment two 😍
Beautiful apartment, congratulations I know that has to be a relief.

I didn't know that can be a great microphone 😆 thanks for sharing, much love from Singapore 💕
It’s a lot of 3/4 bedrooms under 3500 in nyc in good areas and yes it’s a lot in queens
That blue themed apt was liken my dream ! so beautiful !
Really Amazing video ❤
Renting an apartment can be really stressful especially getting bank statements and paystubs I had to pay a vendor online lol
Omgggg Apt 2 looks like HJ Evelyn’s apt before she moved
I live for these videos because I could never live in the city with all of my animal babies (also the prices for rent are INSANE in NYC) but it is so cool to see how other people live 🖤 new subscriber here
The downtown Brooklyn apartment is so dreamy! xx
I could never live in NYC, Sydney prices are already a bit of a killer and I pay the USD equivalent of $1705 a month for my luxury apartment, newly built, 2 bed 1 bath, gym and pool amenities and 24/7 concierge.
#2 was so gorgeous
My first time viewing your vlog and enjoyed it so I did subscribe and look forward to viewing more of your vlogs.
I live in Vancouver but I'm already so done with the high rental price for just one bed... can't imagine the pressure new yorkers have to deal with...
Hi Sarah - this was very helpful for me! I'm about to go through the process myself! 😁 ---- I hope to make a video that is impressive as yours! Keep up the great work! ⭐
That extra loft space is so so cute. For that price yea it is indeed a steal haha. Congrats!
Saw you in the doha video! Didn’t expect to see you in the new house of ashley, jed, luke isa and kelly😮
What app are you using to record your voice during the video?
Just started the video. Excited to watch 😄
you need to make a podcast (I would definitely listen)
I loved apartment 4 for some reason! But I don’t think I could have a bedroom with a room that had no door 😢
apartment 4 was stunning! I fell in love, the bright windows and wooden floors were gorgeous
your apartment was the best but i also really liked the Penthouse!! does anyone know where her flannel jacket is from?
Racoons were in my ceiling when I moved in be sure to check for racoons before moving in
anyone in the comments who wants to move to NY: $4000 is not LOW
you can absolutely find a great place for less, it'll just be way smaller than this place lmao and won't be a "luxury building"
overall just don't freak out!
That’s insane you toured so many apartments, when I move I literally tour like three places and just make a decision lol
What font did you use for “checklist”?
Nice you got maximum house arranged 😇
Hi ! I love this video so much as I am moving to NY soon, Do you Mind telling me what building apartment 2 is in ??
I liked the one in Queens that had the big bedroom
Enjoy your new home!

So glad you landed yours for that price! Please share the name of the building of apt 2! Thank you!
When using apps like street east always click no fee that’ll show all the apartments with no brokers fee
Very interesting video! Thanks for all the information. Are the added brokers fees you added into the price monthly? Or upfront?
Congratulations 🎉
These rent prices are ridiculous and a joke. How much she pays for 1 year of rent is probably someones annual salary.
My parents mortgage is less than $3.5k per month😮, for the amount New Yorkers spend on rent they could save for a down payment on a house and buy a house! Y’all are paying the landlords mortgage for them 😂
Not everyone wants a house
Also you need/have to make 70’s-80’s the rent. No one ever talks about that part. That’s a big component or you won’t even qualify for the unit.. 🙄😑
can you share the name of te first building? I would love to check it out
Nice video!
How do you sync your audio with your video please?
Thanks
1 BD 1 BTH for 4.9k HECK NAH. . that can be MORTGAGE omg
That second apt look like Evelyn last apt
🔥🔥🔥🔥
your final api is my dream apartment and I honestly did not know NYC had any of these. what did you search up during your research?!
What are your thoughts for parking availability? You feel it’s not necessary?
Is sitting like that even comfortable for you?
can you link the second building?
Do those rents pay for per month? ex. $3200/per month?
Yup. Rates in the US are per month
evelyn’s apartment :0
I literally thought the same thing!number 2 right?
Nice
oh my god apt 8 are you kidding
Hello there 👋
👋🏻
NY is expensive
Your minimum is my maximum so …😅😅
花这么多钱租房 都可以买房付房贷了 这些錢
Not in New York.
For some reason, apartment 2 seemed kinda familiar.
It looks like hj evelyns apartment!!that what i thought as soon as i saw the interesting livingroom shape!
I don't like apartments or condos prefer my own lot and house.
these apartments look like they're for homeless people
What?
@@formgeben you know damn well what I’m talkin about
@@austongreen9883 no?? How can apartments that cost 4k a month be for homeless people?
@@1xlina do the math
@@austongreen9883 4k a month is something that homeless people can afford? What?
love ur vids!!

This is probably my favorite apartment hunting video. Love the twist to it compared to other videos and how you include a tour of your place.
I kinda liked the one with Gym and the pool
Right the amenities were amazing!
