Marvelous. I have a clipper marine 30, I’m making my own sails and I have a parachute I was wanted to cut asymmetrical or symmetrical but now I have an idea
You need to haul it in to stop it dropping in the water.. ...thats the advantage of using a short mast. Also para wing kite sails have an inflated leading edge and are designed shed water.. They can also be steered in the sky to generate more power or de power them as required. Still very cool to see.😎👍🏻⛵
Sorry for the super late reply, but yeah... plouf. It gets super messy once it's in the water. Definitely want to avoid that! I have a line from the center of the chute to the cockpit to haul it in. It's easy to pull it in like that when it's windy too. It's one of my favourite sails because it's so entertaining.
@@Vascilly337 Thanks for responding. Have you ever experimented with ways of steering the kite whilst underway? I like your solution for depowering and retrieving the round chute. Wing chutes they park them vertically to de power and then pull them down with minimal effort. Whats the wind angle limits approximately 🤔😁⛵

gorgeous video, so calm on the water, love it.
I like that. I have an old parachute should try that.
I think way higher is the way to go , attached to the anchor rig . Also a helium filled weather balloon could insure it stays up .
what happens if the wind drops completely? plouf?

@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 No, it's pretty much DDW. It took me a couple tries with CAD to get it to fly the way I wanted.
It'll do 160-200* AWA in a mild breeze, but it gets exciting trying to follow it in over 20 knots.
