- How to change Daytime Running Lights on VW T5 Transporter.
The VW T5 daytime running lights are on all the time the ignition is on and go off when you put on your sidelights or headlights. The VW T5 Daytime running bulbs are 12V21W each so that's 42W of power being used with the ignition on and the engine not running. Personally I don't like them.
In this VW T5 Bulb video I will show you how to remove the bulb and replace with a new bulb, ideally use an LED Canbus technology equivalent bulb as this will take much less power from your battery. It must have Canbus otherwise the computer thinks the bulbs have failed as they draw much less power! LED bulbs should last longer but are so much more expensive.

Great news. I’ve just bought some LED bulbs for this so I’ll be trying them out soon. I don’t like the lights on when I’m sitting with ignition on, drains the battery

Great stuff, only just made this video so glad it was useful. Did you replace like for like or go for LED? If you use LED you have to use ones with Canbus technology.
@@LurgsHowToGuides Like for like. I had spares, so for budget reasons I use them first. Besides, I only got the van recently and I don't know how long I'll be using it anyway.
Yeh like for like is way cheaper. I still don't like having 42w burning away my battery when ignition is on though!

Thank God for the internet, I was about to take the clear cover off the front, to change my blown bulb. ( the two little clips are dummies..!)
Be careful using LED bulbs, I did and they played havoc with my dashboard lights. I used standard bulbs. Glad to help.😎

i had no idea what these bulbs are! neither have ever come on. i need a gadget to turn them on?
Mine weren't on for 10 years till a garage turned them on via the computer. Here in England I think it's law to have them for any vehicle newer than 2011.
Why not upgrade it to 6000k or led globe?
