How is it possible for parents to have two daughters playing the trumpet like this How is it possible to have created such a Jazzband Joan Chamorro? I'm speechless. (pardon my English)
It's still fresh in my memory watching Elsa breaking down her trumpet to clean as a beginner. Then, being picked up by Mr. Chammoro, after a long day of performing, now listen to a bonified first-class trumpet. player. Sisters, great sound! I love it and playing it in a loop. Thank you.
Just heard this...what sound from the Armengou sisters (heavy con much sabor)...such a nice performance of Lotus..as Usual Chamorro running a tight ship..nice and crisp..no .."clams"...Great job Banda Andreu Jazz
Wow!!! The Armengou sisters talking to each other with their trumpets, one of the forbidden dreams of any Sant Andreu fan. The moment had to come and here it is, at last. Two exceptional trumpet players, worthy successors of Andrea Motis. And from there Joan-Mar Sauqué and Víctor Carrascosa have also emerged. And behind them come Martha Vives and Gerard Peñaranda. Maestro Chamorro's ability to continually bring out new talents is already well-known, but the trumpet players have surpassed all reasonable expectations. Tremendous. Which of the two sisters do I like better on the instrument? Buff, how difficult. I think the two are very close, I think that some time ago Elsa reached Alba in excellence. But of course, Elsa is dedicated only to the trumpet, while Alba is amazingly complete, vocalist, saxophonist and all-round jazz woman. They are not comparable, they never will be. I would say that Alba's natural habitat is the stage, she doesn't mind singing, playing or even dancing (an "Andrea 2.0"), while Elsa seems to be only really happy with a trumpet in her hand. And what a family saga Sant Andreu has always had: Andrea and Carla Motis, Alba and Elsa Armengou, Eva and Pablo Fernández, Magalí and Iscle Datzira, Jaume and Edu Ferrer, Joan-Aleix and Irene Mata, Alba and Paula Esteban, Koldo and Max Munné, Lola and Gerard Peñaranda, Pau, Nils and Noa Galgo, Sander and Nils Theuns ... Maybe in 4 or 5 years we can add Cel Motis-Mallinger? Who knows 😉. Oh, and don't forget, Jan Domenech on piano, incredible. He is already a great among the greats and he has no ceiling in sight. I dream of hearing him one day playing Debussy, which he himself has confessed he loves. And who doesn't ...
Love the sisters and the way they play,Jan is fantastic, and in the background the young trombone player seems to be scat singing quietly with the music. Everyone of them are great with so much talent. Thank you for sharing with the world!
Having watched so many Sant Andrew Jazz Band videos, covering more than a decade, it's fascinating to see the increasing confidence, competence and soloing maturity of the Armengou sisters. Bravo!
A very striking and swinging piece of music. I'm one of Alba's greatest fans, but in this tune think Elsa actually was slightly more fluid and at ease with her instrument. But that is irrelevant - the point is they were both great! Congrats to both girls (now women) and to Joan Chamorro for their hard work and practice that allowed them to get to this level! And I'm sure they'll go much further.
Dare we say "the Condoli Sisters"?? Kudos for anyone out there who gets the reference. Focus and concentration in the service of art are their own reward. Fortunately, we all get to share and can say "we knew them when".
Just when I think I can't get anymore blown away by SAJB videos... These two have got better and better, then bringing them together,... dangerous,... they reach critical mass and, boom, I get blown away again.
So much fun to watch the incredible Armengou sisters’ musical maturation….among others. From little kids, to young ladies…from a glimmering light to shining stars. As many others have graduated to other endeavors, the newest crop of young musicians sound incredible under the steady hand and tutelage of Maestro Chamorro. This band sounds as good as any other current big band, at any level. A tribute to their hard work and love for the music.
Brilliant solos from the sisters Alba & Elsa Armengou! What a treat for Teacher Joan Chamorto to have such wonderful talents in his group! Greetings from your Swedish fan!❤
Felicitations.

It's amazing to see the Armengou sisters tearing it up, this is the BEST solo I've ever seen from Elsa! Es asombroso ver a las hermanas Armengou destrozarlo, ¡este es el MEJOR solo que he visto de Elsa!
That was well arranged. First time I've ever seen the sister of Alba. They're great together complementing their styles. I love how the music was well orchestrated. Almost like putting a 1940s jazz orchestra ensemble under modern sound technology. Great gig here, Joan!
You should definitely check out Elsa on various other videos. A good place to start might be with Smoke Gets In Your Eyes: ua-cam.com/video/8H__HOVSSAc/v-deo.html Also, do a UA-cam search and check out some of her real early stuff, like when she was 6 and 8. They're jaw droppers!

Finally! I have been waiting for this for a long time: Alba and Elsa in the "family" quarrel of the chase chorusses. Since I heard and saw Elsa's interpretation of "Laura" (2019, Bourgogne Jazz o'verre beaune, filmed by her sister), I was sure that it will not take long to reach the quality of Joan Mar Sauqué. Elsa has an advantage over Alba, she doesn't need to sing a single note in her training, so she can concentrate completely on her trumpet. Few in the band can do this double job one hundred percent (though I would specifically single out Eva Fernandez). What surprises me about Elsa is her ability to improvise in a swinging manner, which is so difficult to describe. It is especially evident in the chase choruses. While Alba improvises very elaborately and quickly reaches the limits of her virtuosity , Elsa plays much more economically, serenely, and puts her ability to swing in the foreground. When the chase is over and Jan Domenech enters his chorus, they both throw each other a smile. Only very briefly and for me the most beautiful moment in this video.
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 Thank you for pointing that out. Compared to her rather delicately built older sister, that explains her athletic figure. Although she has the talent to be a soloist, Elsa seems to me to be a team player, in the band as well as in sports. In the band, over time, she has filled all four trumpet positions. What position does she occupy in soccer? I'm going to guess: offensive defensive left wing. Right?
