Awesome song and a wonderful presentation from a gifted musician and teacher. As a beginner (also with "bigs") trying to master this song as my first (LOL), I have watched this video hundreds of times trying to pick out the notes, chords and fingering. I'm only partially through the song at the moment, but have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and this training video. Looking forward to future lessons and videos! Many thanks!
A really nice lesson - thankyou Nate - everything explained simply, and easily, but makes a brilliant song accessible. Loved it! Gotta go, and get playing it; TooRoo!
Thank you very much for your helpful tutorial video. In fact, I had downloaded a music score of this piece, but it was incomplete, for some chords were slightly wrong and you helped me to precisize them, especially the second part. I'm still too shy to develope my own improvisation on the basic chords: Am, Em7, D, C9, G D C9(2) but I hope it's coming litlle by little. Great tutorial. Thank you again.
Cant see the problem you all have here , this guy is a good teacher , it may not be exact but it well close enough for the general audience to recognise and beats the pants off many so called teachers on the net . "A clear and precise piano lesson "
Brilliant tutorial once again! but I wonder if you could create a tutorial on the solos and maybe a couple of the tricks you played in the featured video i just saw " Bruce Hornsby "That's Just The Way It Is" - Piano Cover by Nate Bosch " because i want to play it like that and i cant pick up all of your tricks ..
Hey there. I'm hearing a little something different in the intro, where the bass note (at least on the Bruce Hornsby version) is a D, not an A, prior to resting on the C. Am I hearing things, or are you actually playing that D as as a +4 in that chord? Please help!
could you tell me where on your website i can get the free sheet music for this song? you said its available but i searched the entire site and i couldnt find it anywhere. but the video is good. but sheet music would be better to i can play along wen i cant access the video.
I've been playing by ear for about 50 years but I can't tell what you are doing at the G 2nd inversion at 2:42. I've played it abut 5 times. Its a little blurry and there are shadows on the keys so I can't see what is being pressed. Also , the original sounds like he's playing minor 7ths instead of just plain minor chords.
And importantly, the voicings are not straightforward. For instance, the second chord has no root in the right hand, the thumb plays a D (7th), no an E as in this tutorial. The quirky voicings are what make the original sound so fresh. The fourth chord is not C, but Cadd2 (once again, the right thumb plays a D, not a C)
Travis Brown I like Bruce's version better, and this is coming from a big time Tupac fan. Especially the piano solos in Bruce's version are to die for. It's always a matter of taste
NO!! I'm much older and still learning new stuff. Its a process and if it isn't fun don't force it. I find I learn more when I am inspired to learn something new, like this Bruce Hornsby concept. Also benefits as you get older, makes you remember stuff and works the hands, brain and music can be healing to the body, relaxing etc.

You are an excellent teacher, I really appreciate the overhead view of the keys as you are playing combined with the straight on view.

your so good man!! really jealous!
can it all be played on 61 key digital piano?
cool i was looking for the datasheet and I found this
Just curious of your keyboard brand and model used in your lessons.
could you tell me where on your website i can get the free sheet music for this song? you said its available but i searched the entire site and i couldnt find it anywhere. but the video is good. but sheet music would be better to i can play along wen i cant access the video.
Me too!!!
Man the Piano sounds great!! Can I ask where this sound comes from? :)
Piano
It all comes from the heart
where are sheet music and lesson resources, cause i can not find them on the website?
I've been playing by ear for about 50 years but I can't tell what you are doing at the G 2nd inversion at 2:42. I've played it abut 5 times. I'm not sure mate, I just follow the video, aswell as getting my own lessons where I live, sheet music is something I will get to one day lol
nice :D
How can I download the sheet music for this???
i wish to play like you ,but I'm feeling desperado give some advice how to control myself
slow the video down to x0.5 speed and it seems like a jovial drunk guy is playing piano
dude i have been wanting to learn how to lay this since i was 8.......i'm now 33 THANK YOU
@eetmieshyt hi, alternate chords are always fun,,, F add 9, is good too,, adds color, most of these chords are fun with a minor 7 or add 9 or 6
SAME HERE DUDE!!!
nice lesson, even walter cronkite would say, and thats the way it is,,, most people will say walter who?
do you have a chart for your arrangement?
What keyboard is this?
I NEED to learn how to play the piano...
Just a note on the progression, don't go from Am to a C at the end like this tutorial suggests. It's actually D to a C.
where can i download the sheet music I don't find it
Where can I get scores?
nice tutorial. one of the things I regret in my life is I never learned how to play the piano.
it's never too late to get started :)
Michael Evia I love keyboards so much. I don't regret playing it and I never will
:( my hands arent big enough to do the tenth but it sounds so amazing!
Do u have your own tutorial? If you have it then show it out man, atleast i can learn it from you dude.
ur insane. its a sample with rap over it.. hornsby is a genius
The real main chords are : Am7 Em7 D C G... D (and not Em !) and finally C(add 9).
How to play intro part (best part) 5:26
i think the second part is G d c not g Am c.. but what do i know
lets not pretend we arent learning this to do the tupac version
dang u got me
Travis Brown Nah, because the Bruce Hornsby version is better, the singing in changes ruins it
Michael Warren nope it makes it 10x better
Travis Brown I like Bruce's version better, and this is coming from a big time Tupac fan. Especially the piano solos in Bruce's version are to die for. It's always a matter of taste
Matias Osorio nah fam, pacs version is better w the flow and delivery, bruce's seemed kinda off put pacs version was smooth and clean
Hard to understand pls. show the notes pdf and keyboard which key on blue light
Sorry this video is really old - I don't think we had the technology back then to light up the keys like we do now.
Where is the intro at the biggining. The very intro,
there's a big jump from being a beginner to playing songs like this.... i can't play them!! :(
I don't think it's an A minor after the G. I think a D sounds better.
pls i want to download it to my phone
+Gabriel Ekpe lol
Plays thé refrain ! Now !
i meant sheet music (music score)
Am7 Em7....btw
Isn't it Bruce (not Bruse) lol ? Too bad it isn't provided in a "sheet format", but thank you anyway.
is it too late to start learning to play piano at 28?
+Rob k (RobKix) No! I always wanted to learn the piano but unfortunately i didn't. I'm 28+ now and i decide to start it!
EreynateTasGrafas its not too late at all. You must have to be dedicated 2 hours everyday for 6 months your mind will surprise you....
Rob k never too late to start. I know people who started in their 40's. You just have to love it.
Not at all. I'm 41 and I have just begun and learned so much thanks to the internet. Just don't give up and enjoy playing the piano. Good luck.
I know just the way it is was first.
But this song is FROM 2PAC.
I know it's not his idea, but pac's version is so much better. 2PAC - CHANGES
Changes. Tupac.
@maxxxjustice and you STILL can't...
