There are some great violinists today...and there is María Dueñas. She is 21 years old and her sound, passion, interpretations and personality are just unique. After 50 years dedicated to music and the violin, it is like I am hearing the whole repertoire for the first time.
Dueñas gives a fascinating interpretation of the work,not limited to playing the original, take risk and offer something more,different and refreshing,bravo!!

Oh! how beautiful, graceful and passionate Mendelssohn she is. especially I would feel that her rhythmic articulated bowing and beautiful skill might be so suitable for this concerto. I appreciate her gifted sensibility for classic music, veryvery so special and lyric bowing articulation. I would love her classical agogyk so much. I wonder if this concerto might be the best violin concerto in the world except Beethoven Violin Concerto, of cause that's depend on how to play. Any way I was moved so much, yeah! This is perhaps the most luscious performance of Mendelssohn Op. 64, ever! María Dueñas makes this music and her violin absolutely sing! The multi-string parts are truly amazing! Without a doubt she is the finest talent of the 20th century , there is no lapse in her energy and commitment to the performance, giving every bar, every phrase attention to detail, always passionate every second of the performance and a sublime sound, that gets every angel in heavens attention . Just as Mendelssohn intended.
My first exposure to this concerto was in 1964, recording by Heifetz/Munch. Ms. Duenas brings a spontaneity and beauty of phrasing, sweetness of tone, that I have never heard before, including the Heifetz recording. I hope she lives to at least 90 and plays as long as she wants!

Lo más importante de un artista verdadero es saber transmitir, incluso a los legos y los ignorantes de la técnica, y en eso María es imbatible. La emoción que es capaz de expresar traspasa barreras y deja huella.
