I never hesitate when telling someone that "Big" is my favorite film of all time. It's a unique choice that surprises most people, but it's just so good. This music is the absolute best. Such a great score! Never gets old!
this was commented 9 years ago so i’m not sure if it’s still your favourite film but it’s definitely mine. a lot of people critique my top 5 list because big is at my top.
Yes i agree i only truly love one movie and this is it, you reflect on life n think back when you hear it. Howard shore is an absolute genius, they've used his music in over 80 films.
"Visiting Home" always hits my emotions... tears... reminiscing on my childhood and being with my loving grandparents. Whoa! I miss them and my childhood. :') I loved the scene in "BIG" (1988)where Josh was looking at the childhood that he was missing out on, while this selection of music was playing... being in his new grown up body. Very touching music score by Mr Shore. 4 stars! :')
As I sit here listening to this, I was already going through some old photos I was able to find at my mother's house after she passed away on Monday, November 28th, 2011 and this year will land on Thanksgiving as it was the last holiday I got to spend with her. I'll admit that I want to shut this off, but I'm in tears as I leave this comment because I ask myself where has all this time I've had disappear to?
Howard Shore masterfully captures the essence of the movie, in this beautiful piece, so 80's and laid-back but timeless and straight to the heart. I love how it transitions through themes with the jazz orchestra. Unforgettable. A movie that I'd love to show to my children.
There are times that we all wish we could go back in time, and be with our deceased loved ones, again. When I listen to this particular music selection, I think of them... and long to go back. :'(
Tears @ 0:00 to 2:46... and throughout the upload, actually :) Been reading all the comments... Wish the powers-that-be in (at least) Hollywood would take note and realise how much - and especially in the world of now in 2016 - we need a connection back to our lost innocence & naivete. How much more we would treasure them if, like Josh, we could find our own Zoltar boxes and go back to when we were just beginning to become whom we were meant to become. I'd like to think I'd be a far better person... But I still try, lol :') So much love - and especially to all the people who listen to this and deeply miss their Mums, Dads, best-buds (#billykopecki) and to the guy somewhere in the comments below who planned to visit NYC and see the locations :) #hollywoodtakenote
This type of soundtrack does fit in for anything. I would love there to be a compilation of these soundtracks just to either recall memories or think of deep thoughts...
Timeless sounds. And my fave movie of all time. When I visit NYC later this year Gona visit the film locations in the movie... Especially Josh's house n school And where the fair was held at the beginning of the movie. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this n won't be the last...
SO THIS..was one of those great movies , you know the one right? - the one you could take your love to and come out of the cinema with such a BUZZ this was that movie !!!!!
I get to sleep on top. Magical film. I hope they never remake it. The ending just gets me. The innocence of youth, friendship and love. This movie has everything and Hanks is just amazing.
Many people posted about "visiting home" which is a beautiful peice. Never get tired of it. The peice is actually called "Its in everyone of us". I've forgotten who wrote it but there are lyrics to it and remember john denver singing it.
You know during the 80's I thought my life sucked. Like most kids did. I was 10 when the 80's ended. Man what I would give to go back to those days. Some of the best days of my life
The space goes... down down baby, down down the roller coaster. Sweet sweet baby, sweet sweet don't let me go. shimmy shimmy coco pop, shimmy shimmy rock, shimmy shimmy coco pop, shimmy shimmy rock I met a girlfriend- a triscuit, she said a triscuit-a biscuit, ice cream soda pop vanilla on the top oooo Shalida, walking down the street, ten times a week I meant it. I said it. I stole my mama's credit. I'm cool. I'm hot. Sock you in the stomach three more times. :-D

Awesome soundtrack, and movie. Dont forget to watch in director's edition (+ 30 minutes of movie). This release make in 2007, so you even may dont know it, like me before yesterday's watching :)
YES!!! It works! This link DOES go to the soundtrack! So hard to find - so thank you for this hidden away gem man! Great score - Ah man, dose memoreeeezzz... :O
I was just commenting on how this link that we're in now, DOES successfully lead to the soundtrack, and that it's not a link that goes to some bogus excuse for it or is a dead link etc. - Just expressing my joy that the link we're listening to actually works.
My personal favorite is It's in Every One of Us which begins around 6:55. The first time I heard that song was in the Christmas special from 1979 with John Denver and the Muppets. Watching this movie sometime in the early 1990's I seemed to recognize the sound here as being the same although no words are heard. Then when I watched the closing credits there was the title in the song list! Such a beautiful tune! I've never been able to fully establish though what it's purpose during these scenes were.
The Zoltar box from the movie resides in The Magic Castle in Los Angeles saw it there in 98 when l was invited to the Magic Castle by a fried. Amazing place
I saw Tom in a recent interview (possibly Jonathon Ross) where he said that they made up the song for the film and he sang it for the interviewer, I think I saw it on youtube somewhere.
@keyoty1228, The only part of the movie off the top of my head where they sing is the part where Tom Hanks first approaches Billy after the transformation has happened and Hanks ends up singing that song (whose name I don't know, but others probably know) to confirm it's really him. As far as I know, that song doesn't exist anywhere as it's own separate audio track, unless someone literally made an audio clip taken from that scene.
I don't think there's any special name for it. It's just the change in music that Howard Shore wrote for that moment in the movie. As labelled on the video, the track is called "Waking Up."
@djbleachburn, well, it's part of the track called "waking up." The theme also recurs elsewhere in the album in the tracks "Zoltar" and "Finding Zoltar."
I know. This is more of a "contemporary" pop sound, whereas I think most people are familiar with his recent orchestral "big" sound of Lord of the Rings. Not to put down LOTR, but I honestly think his score for Big was better. I can imagine any number of composers doing a decent LOTR-type of score, but for me, the music for Big was sweet and perfect for the material.
I hear you. I tell people "Mr. Mom" is one of my favorites of all time and I get the same reaction. "Big" is one of those movies I can watch at any time and enjoy it. I wanted a huge apartment so bad when I was a kid.
I never hesitate when telling someone that "Big" is my favorite film of all time. It's a unique choice that surprises most people, but it's just so good. This music is the absolute best. Such a great score! Never gets old!

Christ, the opening theme transports me back instantly to my childhood. Power of music and movies.
this is one of those movies that really touches a certain kind of person..love it.
Yes i agree i only truly love one movie and this is it, you reflect on life n think back when you hear it. Howard shore is an absolute genius, they've used his music in over 80 films.
Me. 😢🌹. 32 years after.
That's all Penny Marshall films

6.31 just goes right through me and I'm a child again watching this movie for the first time. Powerful.

@ajkells22 - I do, too. It's the best piece of music in the film. Thanks so much for uploading it.
movie magic. Takes me right back.
Holy crap I can't believe I finally found this! Please if you have the originals let me know. I have been trying to track down this score forever.
Amazing! I love the score to this movie.
The Zoltar box from the movie resides in The Magic Castle in Los Angeles saw it there in 98 when l was invited to the Magic Castle by a fried.

Of all my being, thank you very much!

most jammingest bass ever!
Thanks for uploading!
Where's the beautiful, haunting music when he goes back and finds the Zoltar machine again? I love that one.
I don't think there's any special name for it. It's just the change in music that Howard Shore wrote for that moment in the movie. As labelled on the video, the track is called "Waking Up."
I heart you Howard Shore!
ohh i really love this movie.. this soundtrack too.
The 80's had some great times!
5 people "Don't get it."
They gave this movie yesterday on TV, I love the creepy theme XD
Once they live another decade or two, and experience life's pain, they will . . .
Amazing, amazing, amazing.
Me too...if I could have stayed in the 80s my life would have been much better...major problems since!
@djbleachburn, well, it's part of the track called "waking up." The theme also recurs elsewhere in the album in the tracks "Zoltar" and "Finding Zoltar."
I miss movies like this without big explosions, but a nice storyline.
They dont make film scores like this anymore. Just made a custom shazam trailer using the opening theme.
5:40 my favourite moment)) музыка огонь 🔥 а
it would be so cute if gizmo from the gremlins movies sang along with the "visiting home" song
beautiful and sad ending
@djbleachburn, if you mean the part starting at 5:40, that's still part of the original score by Howard Shore.
They need to make a sequel called "Little". With the opposite scenario.
who does that song part with the carnival sound? I would really love to do something with that part
@WastedPo Is there anyway of getting the album digitally?
@LittleYodaLollipop, glad you enjoy it.
I want to find in spotify the score music of the moment when he use the soldar machine... How can I find it?
where can i find the song where the two boys sing
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I love the Zoltar theme
@Taydiggity03, go to the varesesarabande website. Click on "soundtrack club." On page 14. It looks like there are still copies available.
Absolutely. Ditto.
acually I ment whats the name of it on the album?
@ajkells22, you're welcome. I really like it too.
CAME FOR THE ZOLTAR THEME!
5:39 best part 😁 🔔
I hear you. I tell people "Mr. Mom" is one of my favorites of all time and I get the same reaction. "Big" is one of those movies I can watch at any time and enjoy it. I wanted a huge apartment so bad when I was a kid.
Where's "Forget Me Nots"???
@boxrock84, funny observation. And so true.
@Reboothis Amen....check into IFC. Hollywood doesn't screw up the movies on that channel.
nice music.
5:20 I love it!!!!!!!
que buena es yo la vi cuando tenia comooooo 18 mas humeno
yes that is but what does that mean no way to get it? lol
"I wish I were BIG"
Pachelbel's Canon surely?
Composed by Howard Shore of Lord of the Rings lore.
@setter132000 ya but the instrumental version in the movie i think is a lot more beautiful.
