And I go like "yeah, but British Army is just two divisions strong. India normally fields 45 Divisions, not counting paramilitary."

Or according to this example: it'd be "Challenger 2 is the best tank in the world and worth 10 T-90, but we got just 224 Challenger 2 while they got 4200 T-90 and T-72"
      .

wrong. you cannot just spread vaccine around, it has to be approved. As of 31 January 2022, Covaxin (Indian vaccine) has been granted emergency use approval in 13 countries. India initially approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine (manufactured under license by Serum Institute of India under the trade name Covishield). Germany, which developed many different vaccines (the first mRNA vaccines as well) has given vaccine to 46 countries AND helped to built new vaccine manifactures for instance in Africa. The biggest donor countries in the world are 1. USA and 2. Germany (btw,, same is true for many other projects like the UN itself which gets most money from the US and after that from Germany. (which btw, starts to suck. I dont like that we support antisemitic/antizionist Nazi-Sharia countries and racist projects like 'Palestine' - which was already supported by Hitler/NSDAP - the real Nazis (which were mixed-left wing btw.), and their variations like all those socialist/left wing dictatorships and parties (not to talk about female rights, human rights, democracy etc. they permanently violate). 1) The brief burst of U.S. spending in 1896-1898 went mostly to a larger navy, and the rest for the Spanish-American War of 1898.
    2) From the 1890s until World War 1, the UK built an astonishing number of battleships, several every year. The technology advanced so rapidly that some were already obsolete when they entered service. The other naval powers were the doing the same.
    3) By the time the U.S. entered World War 1, the UK and France were financially spent. The U.S. provided the financing later in the war, but much of the weaponry the American army fought with in 1918 was French. The war ended before the U.S. arms industry could develop and build it own weapons. Enormous quantities of food, clothing, oil, and other military supplies were supplied by the U.S.
    4) The massive military spending by the Soviet Union in the 1970s and '80s, and the consequent lack of money for everything else, was one of the causes of its collapse in the early '90s.

Brother again your comments on india very very outdated. British Aid to india is about 0.4% of india's GDP our government spent more on fertilizer subsidies.
PLZ check your facts and india spend 2% of GPD on defence. You talk about your aid like india is just run on your aid. Do you know why britain pay aid to india?????
Britain ruled india for almost 200 years during that time britishers killed indians looted india do not forget why they came to india to do trade brother.
I'm happy with today’s britishers (common people who had nothing to do with what those Britishers did to us) but not with your government and your Royal Family. And they should say sorry to india we are happy with that no need to give so called aid royal family they killed indians
not today's britishers. check out Bengal famine in 1943 killed 3.8million, jallianwala bagh massacre in 1919, 379 people were killed during open fire on protesters by british officer.
this is why you send aid not doing us a favor you talk like you are doing a favor. Britain stole 45trillions of today's money looted from india during british occupation
PLZ do reply share your thoughts. check india's share in world GDP after and before british occupation i know you do not know all the facts just read or see what media tell
but you can check all the facts if you want now india is 5th largest economy in the world behind US,China,Japan,Germany recently india overtook UK, of course in PPP terms because

Stop quoting Shashi Tharoor like a buffoon. British Aid to India is not 0.4% of Indian GDP, its much less than that. A better counter is the fact that India gives $2.3 Billion in aid to other countries every year. Compared to the few tens of millions UK gives to India as aid.
And if you have a brain, instead of talking about the British Raj that they all know about, talk about how that British Aid is not aid but funds sent to NGOs to sabotage India's growth by organizing protests against infrastructure projects. Tell them about how Indian Government, since 2004, has been asking UK not to send this aid. Tell them about the FCRA law that had to be enacted to stop this menace of foreign money disguised as aid sent to India for waging economic war on India.

Also in 1991 the Soviet union didn't just disband. It collapsed economically and disbanded. Also you mentioned the exponential growth of wealth, which can be attributed to the British Empire and United States which promoted free trade and both countries adopted alliances after WW2 which increased trade and wealth worldwide
Also that increase in the 1900s post ww1 was definitely for defense. The US was the largest economy already by that point but was completely defenseless aside from the two oceans protecting it. It became increasingly necessary to have a bigger military

The aid provided to India is not to the Indian government but to Missionary organizations which eventually used to convert people..... So it will be great help for India if you stop those petty aids and keep that for your crumbling nation...

Indian Gov. already denied Britains aid but they insist to give according to some Geopolitical interest. Actually British aid gives to Christian missionaries and other Brit. led NGOs(not to Gov.) for safeguarding their interest in india and converting peoples of india to Christian through providing livelihood facilities . Somewhere they succeed at some parts of the regions like South India and specially Northeast .

NATO requires 2% of GDP to be spent on military (even if alot of countries struggle to meet that), the USA is spending less than 4% of GDP. After watching the USA world bases video, you can understand why the budget is so much with so many troops stationed everywhere. I've seen a few reactors that are or were part of small Eastern European militaries, and they talk about how they liked having USA base in their country. Some pointed out how the only tanks they ever saw were US Abrams because their country just couldn't really afford them.

The only thing they learned was we spend waaaaay more than what's on paper and there's no real way of knowing because our government does alot of things off the books so to speak and none can be tracked.

You guys seem unaware of several wars that certainly affected military spending such as the Franco-German War in the 1870s, the Spanish-American War in the 1890s and the Russo-Japanese War in 1905.
More recently, Reagan became US President in 1982 with a promise to increase military spending which he did and essentially bankrupted the Soviet Union forcing it to try to keep up. It collapsed in 1989 and under Yeltsin had a very bad economy so it's not surprising their military spending was very low for a while. I forget exactly when Putin came in but I suspect that would be when Russian spending started to grow again.
