Brewing For Impact: The Roots Of Fonio With Maison Kalao

In celebration of his 30th anniversary as Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver is unveiling the Brewed For Impact. This yearlong initiative features seven collaborations with breweries around the world to highlight the versatile, climate-resistant, ancient West African grain fonio and its untapped brewing potential.
The first collaboration is with Maison Kalao, a pioneering brewing in Dakar, Senegal. Founder Raphaël Hilarion shares Garrett's passion for fonio, and dreams of using it to create a sustainable circular economy in Senegal: "It brings the whole community to be part of it, beyond beer."
