Unless I am missing something I cannot find the second file in the list from the github page.. hopefully I can try again in a few days and see if there have been any updates. Thanks for the tutorial though - can't wait to get this on my T-Deck 😀 EDIT: Doh! My bad.. should have looked more carefully at the written instructions - don't need to download the firmware-t-deck-2.5.3.bfe99b2-update file from the github page as per the second half of the video as it is included in the zip downloaded in the first part - thought I would leave my stupidity in here in case it helps anyone else that makes the same mistake! 2.5.3 has expired now and like an idiot I didnt save the zip file! I have also flashed the new launcher as per your new video. Good videos thanks. Does anybody have a saved copy of 2.5.3 they could upload somewhere?
As of 10/5/2024 it is working. For anyone saying it doesn't work.... WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO and follow the steps one by one. Couldn't be easier. After the first one, did 3 more T-Decks in about 1-2min each. Thank you!!!!!
I used the github link from the comments in your video. Going to that link the files the video wants us to pull down are expired so I can't download. Is there a new link? Thanks for video.
I bought a T-Deck Plus, but the current firmware makes it just another node to me, with the Android app having much better functionality. I really like the idea of a truly usable standalone device, but I think I will wait until a new T-Deck firmware like this one is more mainstream and established. My current favorite node is a Heltec V3 slick with a small ipex antenna in a small project box stuck with double-sided tape to the back of a 10k mAh power bank and powered by a U-shaped usb-c adapter with a third port that allows charging while in use and a battery life of at least 4 days. Thing is heavier than my phone though... 😅
None of the firmwares you provided links to currently work, After flashing the device is just bricked. Just wanted to let you know, hopefully I can find one that works soon
@@TechAirSpace Unsure what is happening then. On the meshtastic webflasher it says 100% complete and in the log waiting to download. I have let it sit there and nothing happens on the device. Restart, reset etc, nothing. Won't turn on.

I install that first with the Meshtastic flasher and then I use newer files to update the T-Deck (using esp.huhn.me/). The .zip I used seems to be now "expired" from the Github. Happy to help! Now in the future you just need to use the -update file and not the Meshtastic flasher if you want to try out new CI artifact versions (unless major changes are made to the firmware).
I'm having trouble installing this on t-deck plus. after flashing both files, I get Meshtastic splash screen with "2.5.3" on green background and nothing happens after.
How do you know what is the newest? I see you have a link to 2.5.1a034c95. How can I find the newest in the future? I see 2.52 Alpha came two days ago. So I will wait a little for that. So If I get this right I have to download the huge 267mb file. Flash that via Meshtastic Flasher. And then flash the smaller file with the T-Deck name using a different flash tool? I guess the second is for the UI itself.
Thats how I did it and it worked. You can find the latest files when you press the small CI text top left of the screen. From that page you click again the fancy T-Deck link. Might need to press next button few times at the bottom of the screen.
Hi. I bought 2 Deck plus and both already have updated firmware with this beautiful UI. Can I get them to talk to each other without needing a third hardware/node? How? Tks
