Is there a motor like a servo with a metal shaft that can go back and forth forward and backward with a speed controller knob it im guessing a high speed servo that can go extemly fast up and down or right to say 45* controlled and it faster and slower? Ive been trying to find one i want to do a project to to make a guitar pick act like a human plucking a string but be able tk go extremely fast and slow with a control knob of some sort

Great video!! All is explained very well and in plain English. thank you for making it. I also appreciate the links to your other videos. :) I would like to get more information on the Universal motor as you say in your video. I would also be curious to know more on motor feed back control (as you mention for the servo motors using a potentiometer to provide the feedback signal)...actually I hope you have a video on that already. I'm also proud to support you on Patreon. :)

couple things.. firstly i wanna say overall, good job. liked how u began w/ a simple outline highlighting the main types & catagories. more/less equal amount of time spent on each individual type, giving a brief run down covering the main differences between each. it wasnt overly technical & the animations were super helpful. u spoke clearly & were easy to understand, surprisingly this is overlooked more often than not among other creators. all in all this is a great video for anyone who's looking to get into motors & doesn't know where to start, or for the tinkerer who's brushing-up (no pun intended Lol) on their knowledge for a related project.
maybe trim down the intro a bit tho?.. seemed as tho there were almost 2 intros back-to-back, essentially repeating the same info twice. this can be annoying if you're in a hurry & just need a quick answer on something. that can also sometimes be enough to make someone outrght click-away as it gives the impression as if you're perhaps attempting to just fill in as much time as possible because the content of the video is actually lacking any depth at all -beyond a simple google search results scan which anyones capable of.. or, as if you may otherwise just be looking to fatten the video up as much as u can without it being overtly obvious, this is common especially when a creator is striving for that attractive 10-min zone or vying for the top spot in-terms of video length among the other similar videos competing for eyeballs in the YT search results..either way, stray away from disenguiously wasting the viewers time/patients _~although i do not believe that is at all the case here.._ besides, this is really just catering to the more picky viewers.
lastly, where the fan motors at?? both ceiling fan motors _and_ airconditioning unit fan motors? maybe u were just going for smaller motors. cuz theres also 3-phase but thats a whole other topic. maybe add "small" to your video title? just a thought.
anyhow, thanx a lot for the vid, very helpful. thot the least i could do was throw some pointers your way..idk

Nice video, thank you for sharing.
I would recomend that you make series about all type of motor and how to control them.
I have some knoledge about small dc motor, but they are low torque.
Im still not shure about how much force or kg they can lift and hold, with or without power?
I woul like to learn more about stronger AC motors, wanna make table that can rise 50-60 cm so i can save my back when im on my pc :) Maybe rise him every 45 min for 15 min. For that i dont wanna use super expensive nema24+ I would like to use cheap AC motors.
Or even to make my monitor setup go below desk when not in use? That would be nice project, with some 2020 bars, I guess it wont cost more than 50-60 eur or even 100?
    Keep them coming :)

I would now like to have a play with and even design/make some BLDC motors. Is there a simple rule for the ratio of PM:EM ? I can see that must be some multiple of 3 for a 3 phase driver (most common/available) so 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, etc... So in general for an N phase driver #EM poles=xN where x=1,2,3,... but whats then the formula for PM? Thx.
