This is such a great example of the INCREDIBLE control Mariah has over her voice when she’s singing, which is extremely hard ESPECIALLY with nodules. But she powered through and still managed to sound absolutely breathtaking.
@@patricktilsley9164 Please read to understand instead of reading just to respond. I wasn’t clearly referring to the fact that I did not know the performance was dubbed in the first place.
I feel like if she didn't dub those performances, people wouldn't be so hard on her! For example, we watched the decline of Whitney's voice and she was very honest about it, her I Will always Love you note was very different through the years as her entire range! So I think because Mariah dubbed so many perfomances, people expected perfection and when the vocal decline became evident people started being so Hard on her because it happened so suddenly! But I love Mariah no matter what! And I would love to go see her show!
I don't think it would have made a difference. Even when she lost the ability to hit the G5s and F#5s as easy as it is for her to drink a glass of champagne and honey, she was still able to pull of a lot of signature notes, especially the whistle register which she only stopped doing noticeably as much from 2007, and she stopped belting F#5s all together after 2004 (minus one in 2008 and an accidental one in 2015). And I think a lot of that is due to laziness, drinking (she's drinking whilst singing Touch My Body on TBR), weed smoking, and a lack of rest (three nights in a row recently!!!). It's not because she's a lost a huge amount of her voice, it's just that she doesn't care anymore, and people notice that. When she did care back in 2013 (because of American Idol and album) she was giving pretty solid performances including one that easily rivals Daydream performances (Jimmy Fallon).
ummm sorry but what you're saying is not a Mariah choice and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Maybe people doesn't seem to know what dubbing means???
amazing. i love her technique. many singer now without nodules dubbed her performance or lip re record. she just need more warm up her voice to less raspy
This just looks and sounds - from the comparison at the end a difference between raw audio and mastered audio. Its clear that the 'dubbed' version is actually just post production and has effects on the raw audio. It doesnt sound at all like a "redub" ie singing again the vocals post performance- Which she did for Madison Square Garden VHS/DVD concert. It just sounds like some good post production audio mastering, smoothing out vocals with echo effects, normalising the mic feed so that the vocals are on the same level, taking out the grain which is her rasp. I say this because her flicks and runs and volume placement are all identical.
They're identical, because it's the same person who knows how to sing the song the way she planned to. However, there are very clear differences in the diction, the fluidity. It's not the same vocal.
@@chimierc5920 I think it's the same vocal just produced and "polished" to reduce the rasp. She always said that her voice was naturally raspy and hated how they overproduced her early records to remove the rasp.
Mariah is a very insecure and shy person. You could sense her nervousness. You can compare her confidence with solo performances versus awards shows or tv shows like this especially with another super performer.
OMG I can almost FEEL how nodules are stopping her from producing sound even though I never had them. It must have been painfully hard for her to try to sing around her nodules. I feel like her prime would've at least extended to 2005 if she never had had them.
There is no doubt she can still hit whistles. I don't remember exactly but she didn't lip all the whistle on her shows and tours even lately. Plus even though she lipped many of them, she still constantly records new versions of them which proves that she can hit them fine in studio.
The mother of MUSIC ! She deserve a statue in Time Square and millitary honors after her dath....For the humanity to remember about the GODES of Music here on earth !
I love when she sings live... everytime everywhere!!! I prefer some imperfections but I know we know honestly that her voice is that when she sings you say "ah ok, it's Mariah"... other singers are powerful, more powerful in some moments but not a tipycal tone!!
Basically Mariah mastered all the vocal techniques, but for those ppl who still say she can't sing, she's under control, she has NODULES. That's why she can hit higher notes/whistle notes although she is an alto. When she's in a good day, she can shut your asses all the way down!!!!
Mariah is the opposite of contralto, my friend. She was a light lyric coloratura who was never meant to belt or harbor greats amounts of power. Her head voice is very light bright warm and agile as you can hear in songs such as the roof where her "whispery " head tone is always in the 5th or 6th octave.
@@lougomes2912 hasn’t she said that she has lower voice. I would put her in mezzo category, with extended range on both ends, her sound is so rich and full she is not light lyric soprano (she supported f2 no soprano will be able to do that)
There is a distinction between dubbing and filtering vocals in post. This is completely undubbed but they certainly finessed the vocal to achieve a smoother sound.
Wow, I never ever knew this was dubbed, all these years. She was just a tad raspier live, not that big of a deal... I'm sure Whitney could have stood up just like Mariah did for her though. Anyhow, thanks for this!
