Things about the video. The 2nd antenna is because the back glass folds down under the roof. Most cars are FM in rear defroster and satellite in the shark fin. Miata with a folded down roof needs a 2nd antenna. Movable cupholder is moved to the passenger knee area for when the driver is alone. Then it is right at hand. When a passenger is in the car, you move it to the back to give them more room and suffer with the odd location. "City smart brake" is the windshield camera sensing a collision and first warning and then hitting the brakes for you. It also has a "Hill holder" brake. That senses when the car is on an uphill and will hold the brake a few seconds after you lift off the brake when the clutch is down. Then release the brake when the clutch bites so you don't roll back. Club and GT's with stick shifts have the same Bilstein suspension, strut tower brace and limited slip. Difference is the stuff you mention like the auto headlights, auto wipers, auto dimming outside mirrors and interior auto-dimming with homelink.
This depends on your location. Here in Australia there is no satellite radio, so shark fins don’t exist here. Also the GT spec in Australia does not have Bilsteins, nor does it have an engine cross brace. I have a one year old GT, and no hill holder brake either. Different regions, different specs for cars.
Another thing he didnt touch on, is that the wind break behind the seats is removable. So IF you are driving and its colder out with the top up, you can remove it to give yourself a clearer view in the rearview. It's just a shame that the only changes are so minor between the 2022 and 2023.
At 13:50 you say “ there is no sense revving it out because there’s not much power up there. That’s where All the power is. Rev it out and shift and the revs fall right back into the meat of the power band.
Keep in mind the Brembo brakes are on the front only, the rear calipers are standard Mazda brakes that are painted red. I have a 2022 ND soft top, I test drove the Club version and didn't think it was worth the extra money. I personally think the gunmetal satin wheels on the GT are better looking than the BBS wheels, and the standard seats are just fine. I worked out that the money I saved pays for about 6 years of servicing!
I agree. Black wheels look dirty even when they are clean, and everyone has them. The Club model is mostly for tracking drivers. The standard brakes are more than adequate for a light car. Money you don’t spend for a Club you can put in the bank. A stock RF looks great as is in whatever color you desire. Only thing I see as a minus is there is no option for a light interior. I prefer a tan so the seats stay cooler.
On the fence I like the lsd and color matched door sill panels and some of the exterior items of the club (but can be added later) I don’t think the club bilsteins are really for tracking just makes it a smidge sportier if you really want to track the car your going to need some better suspension. the BBS wheel and tire package Brembos and Recaros def not worth it for me.
I went a step further and got the sport trim in red. Got a great deal on it, since they're less popular, and I saved over 7k compared to the base Club (made-to-order only couldn't get a good deal). If/when I get tired of the stock setup, I can upgrade the LSD, wheels and tires, brakes suspension etc as needed with that money saved. A lot of people modify their Clubs anyway, which I've always found funny.
I really like this car. And while a car, approaching 40 K is a lot of money, I can’t find a single vehicle that has as much excitement as this car. I want one. Well done, Mazda!
I am with you. I think a nice used one as a weekend car would be awesome not for a brand new daily driver though. Kind of depends where you live in the country as well.
I have an NB2 and I love it. The only thing I wish is that it could be a little quieter wind wise. But only so much you can do with it being so small and light.
It's not like it's a super fast car either way, haha, but peak HP is made at 7k rpm, so there is definitely sense revving it over 5k. The ND2 engine pulls until redline without running out of breath, and it feels really happy to do so.
Cupholders are great: 1) the front cupholder is perfect for solo driving (doesn’t get in the way of a passenger), 2) the rears are for when there are two of you, 3) never any need for a “third cupholder” since the car only holds two people, 4) you have the option of stowing both cupholders in the rear cubby, or just removing them from the car altogether.
3 cupholders is perfect. Can’t tell u how many times my wife and I go out to eat and she’ll bring her Yeti in the car and then come back from eating with a soda
I am still debating between this car or the G86. I have been waiting for the 86 for 9 months already but the MX5s are at the dealerships. A little more expensive but I like it a lot. Which one would you buy and why?
MX5 will be more reliable and has a better shifter and clutch. But I’d say it depends on if you want a convertible and if the car will be your daily driver. GR86 is a better single car while MX5 is a better 2nd car
The Miata is a different beast. The 86 is faster but I average 24 mpg and the engine issues with rtv. The gr86 is fun and goes sideways easily but if you plan to mod the Miata is cheaper. No need for rear lower control arms for alignment specs if you lower it. Exhaust options are easier to find used. The Miata has transmission issues even the nd2. I paid 28k otd for my nd2 the gr86 would’ve been 35k otd. Insurance is also half the price for the Miata for me anyway in Ohio. 50 monthly vs 102 for the gr86.
I own a BRZ currently looking to trade it in for a Miata after test driving one. Get the Miata, the engine is kinda exotic feeling vs the 86 where it’s just there. Plus the weight is noticeable, and depending on your area you might find a local group to drive Miata’s together

They did a long time ago. Now they don’t, at all. I have CX-30 here in Poland, drive it in the snow and salt, have had it for 3.5 years and not a trace of rust anywhere, none.
Does anybody else feel like the interior should be a little better like having an automatic seat adjusting and when I’m looking at like the AC controls is giving 2000 vibe a little bit those are really the only problems I have with it.
Enjoy it because in 2025 or 26 It goes away. The manual transmission, the motor, weight, and handling. The car will be bigger and heavier. It will be a battery car. Mazda should be pushed to keep it the way it is. Once these cars are gone, the fun goes with it.

You mean your brown water ......I've a "espresso" (express means fast) before getting in the car and then I drive (that what this kind of car is for !) What "challenge" : stick shifting ! In EU everybody know how to do this , and with car like this , you don't want an automatic ! Fortunately this summer I drove the one of GB friends for 2 months (in Sardinia, lot's of curves and hills) BTW flip-flops are not considered shoes in EU , in many restaurants they'll not allow to get in .........
Bro you got to manually rev match lmao I didnt even know cars automatically did that sounds like cheatin to me this car is amazing especially if you drive in snow and rain this car will make you so good at driving. Only thing it has that it shouldnt is Abs its a great car to learn how to drive
Is it comfortable for a 6 hour round trip with my honey?
No
First ten seconds of the video has me dying 😂 it's true though
Lololol
3:59 thats stupid, now i cant store bodies in my car
Cool
Shoeless driving FTW! 👣
💪
Driving witthout shoes is illegal
just an fyi. its not legal to drive bare foot in every state.
#freethefoot!
All the power is at 7500 get up there
If you screw around in shop class, you’re gonna have a bad time!
It's a crime to drive without shoes. Law doesn't apply to you?
I am above the law
Auto headlights.....Auto Wipers... Auto rev-match...People need this? Are they too lazy/stupid to use these features by themselves?
Can't wait to put my 1989 Civic Si back on the road. Manual. No power windows. No power brakes. No power steering. Just pure effing driving pleasure!
naked foot for the win!
naked foot always wins!
Such a pity they a rust buckets
They did a long time ago. Now they don’t, at all. I have CX-30 here in Poland, drive it in the snow and salt, have had it for 3.5 years and not a trace of rust anywhere, none.

Sadly in the UK I've seen several and they are rusting
Maybe the cx is good.. Not the mx5
@@the1beard I'll find out since I'm getting a new one soon. Also I get my cars washed and waxed often, and I garage them.

Wash the underside after winter
My 2012 hasn't rusted yet, and it was is chicago and now in Florida.
Does anybody else feel like the interior should be a little better like having an automatic seat adjusting and when I’m looking at like the AC controls is giving 2000 vibe a little bit those are really the only problems I have with it.
Piloti does not approve.
Lololol😅
I drive barefooted too 😘
Enjoy it because in 2025 or 26 It goes away. The manual transmission, the motor, weight, and handling. The car will be bigger and heavier. It will be a battery car. Mazda should be pushed to keep it the way it is. Once these cars are gone, the fun goes with it.
Depends on the battery they'll use for them. EV's can be light, range is going to suffer on them ofcource.
Maybe a 3 cylinders hybrid. Could still be relatively light and quicker.
Talking too much
Not taking advice from someone driving barefoot in the first 10 seconds of the video
That's just ridiculous! You can feel the pedal with no shoes on! And when you go to the beach as I live in Florida. You don't drag all the sand in on your floor.....! Stop being a lightweight😂
The power top works in accessory mode, so no need to start the engine.
