Talk about things that make life simple. Batteries to me just feel like one of those things that I'm always out of or I can never find. Always been looking for solutions to make this mundane task easier and I think I found the best one yet.
Thanks to Olight for sending this over for review.

There was a point where between the adults and the kids in my house there was never a large enough supply of AA batteries. And at some points even AAA. I can see a niche for that if it ends up working.
I've been watching too many maker videos. Halfway through watching I started thinking of how they may have designed😎
I’m not the biggest fan of the fact it’s only one battery size per charger, but I ended up getting the bundle with both.
My thinking is well if they come out with an all in one in the future it will probably be more expensive but only charge half as slow as having 2 chargers. Plus with them only doing one size batteries there is probably less moving parts, so less can go wrong.
I ordered 2 AA models. I'm an A/V guy, and I think this is great for wireless mics. I think this would also be a fantastic investment for churches and venues.
Very cool solution. I have a lot of motion activated AAA powered lights, so this would be awesome to keep them running
I want one, but I don't go through enough batteries to make it worthwhile. I bought a couple rechargeable AA and AAA batteries but I never use them because I have to focus my use on the disposable ones to use them before they go bad and leak. But that's another reason to get it: rechargeables don't leak. I'm REALLLLLLLY tempted. I'd love it if they had one for 18650s but there is probably too much variability for that to work, especially with salvaged cells. I spend a lot of time cycling all of those every storm season. I have dozens.
Love it. Thanks for the heads up
I am so glad you put this on your tubesite. I just ordered both!!! great deal. Thanks again
Tool Bear we need both can't wait just got my first olight flash light this week. Keep up the great work
The battery charger that I'm currently using will interchangeably charge AA's or AAA's. As such my assumption is that an issue behind mandating a different unit for AA's and AAA's may be due to an inability to effectively route both sizes of batteries into the same charging mechanism. Maybe down the road they can look at eliminating that Pachinko machine-like mechanism at the top and replacing it with something simpler like what they use on the output side of the charger.
I use a lot of batteries with hunting cameras and blink cameras.
Great idea, if they made one for 18650 and 21700 batteries I am sure plenty of people would jump on those. I moved away from AA and AAA once 18650 got big.
Everything that I have that is 18650 already has a charging port on it. I can't remember the last time I took a battery out of one.
@denoftools very true, there are even 18650s with a built in usb c charging port. It's just one more thing that would make life more convenient but wouldn't revolutionize how things are done. Having this design would make it a lot easier getting all my 18650s charged without popping them in and out
Ohh 😲 I will say that it’s one of those “simple” idea that makes you say “ Why has no one made this before”. Thank you for the cost breakdown, skips a step in considering whether it would make sense in my situation
It's been thought of and done before. But never in such a neat little device. That, okay? Guess it hasn't completely been done before. There's a separator for bad batteries. Everything else has been thought of and done before. Yeah you're right, why has no one thought of this before?👍
I guess it’s interesting just like watching the automatic coin sorter than no one uses anymore. This product gives me the “As seen on tv” vibe. I’ve pretty much converted to lithium now and so I need chargers for those batteries. Wouldn’t it be great if this could charge the same. And yes my mommy still buys batteries at the drugstore for me.😂
This would make a ton of sense for people who are working press photographers who use speed lights that take 4 AA batteries, as well as touring musicians with mics and mic packs that take AA batteries.
If people use lots of batteries, I think it makes good sense. I personally don't use many, so it's not for me, even though I think it cool! 😎 With that many batteries and the convenience it provides, I think it makes great, inexpensive sense. Thanks Jeff, as always, and a great video! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
The FAQ says they're developing a single unit that would handle dubs and trips so I'll wait out for that one.
I seen these on kick start
But my mommy already got me batteries for my gas generator!!!
10-15 years ago I would have jumped on this. Now at 66 no kids around there is not a need for me any longer. Now the only things in my home that take batteries are the thermostat and the remote for the TV. Back then there was the GameBoys, pocket TV's (Watchman style)no kids no battery eating devices anymore.
It would be FUN if they showed you how it worked on the inside!
Could always take it apart😮👍🍻
There is an animated video on their website.
Oh, that is cool.
I could use something like this in c and d size. My flashlights eat c and D like pez
This sounds like an excellent product idea. I may get the AA unit. I don't think I go through enough AAA at this point to be useful so unless I start making projects powered by AAA might not be worth it there. The big thing is cell capacity and charge cycles, if the provided batteries are not the low end rechargeables then it is a good price. I'm sure that it is the battery height difference that prevents interchangeability but could lead to a unit that charges both in a single case.
EXACTLY what I've been looking for! I pledged!
I've bought a couple of novel products through kickstarter campaigns - the one that sticks out in my mind is AA Wireless, since our cars didn't support Android Auto wireless. I won't buy a kickstarter product form a large, well-funded company like Olight who are abusing the intent of kickstarter, even for a novel product like this.
IF the included batteries are as good as Amazon (which are by all reports OEM'd Eneloop cells) I'll buy this once it's on the open market, because I go through a lot of AA cells as well, and this is something I've long needed. Even better: I hope they come out with one that does AA, AAA, 18650, and, 21700 cells. I know it would be more costly than a unit that handles just one battery size, but probably not as pricey and space consuming as four or more separate chargers to handle all the different cell types.
I know Lowes recycles tool batteries. Batteries plus bulbs I believe recycles like all batteries.
This is missing some of the best features of the slow but thorough Maha C9000, mainly the ability to cycle and sometimes refurbish aging NiMH. It rejects defectives, but does it report on the 'health' of the others? On the other hand, it looks promising for bulk recharging. The Maha has only 4 bays; I could honestly use a 16-bay version.
Look at the app features.
Wow I like that. I am always burning through double and triple A batteries. I am hitting Harbor Freight sales for batteries when I can. What has been you experience with rechargeable batteries like this? What is the "average" amount of cycles?
500 to a thousand cycles per AA battery. Of course that depends on how you treat them.
Hey that won’t work for me I have enough batteries!!! LOL
I have never really used rechargeable, was wondering if it would save us anything
I just got it and I hope it does better than the old model because I took it back for lack of power! This new one sounds a little bit stronger and has some updated features except for the blade guard. They should have left it metal like the old one! Can’t wait for the review!
Blade guard, on a battery charger? Are we talking about the same thing?
@@denoftools oh dang, yeah this reply was definitely on the wrong video, my apologies! Once I finish watching the video, my reply will be on topic!
Hey Jeff, will it work with other manufacturer's batteries?
As long as they are nimh
Whena the 18650 version come out
it does look like a great product, but i don't go through enough batteries to warrant getting one
I put usb c ports and a rechargeable battery in anything I buy
I’m confused, are those batteries or generators?
What technology of battery does it use? Lithium, Nicad, NiMH , etc.
Ok, it seems like NiMH from one of your screenshots.
There is an adult toy joke in here somewhere to be had, I just know it. 😅
How fast does it charge? Say half depleted batteries - 10/day? 50/day?
I was able to do full capacity over night.
Does it only accept Olight rechargeables?
No, any rechargeable Ni-MH should work in the Ostation X, not just Olight batteries. AA and AAA are industry size standards.
LBT in the house!
@@lastbesttoolhey LBT didnt expect you here
The big hangup I have is the spec that flashed by on the screen.... that these are for only NiMH batteries.
I've switched out all my small rechargeable batteries for Li-ion (except the Surefire LiFePO4 ones for my weapon light) and stick with the cheap zinc ones from HF for low-drain disposables.
Otherwise, really neat idea. I'm surprised OLight isn't making this Li-ion compatible, as that would likely be a hit.
I like it, I may get both.
lord yes the corrupt school system has ruined at least 2 generations.. well school system plus ignorant parents who care more about themselves then there kids. anyway. LOVE ya and GOD bless you and your family. It will get better soon .. I promise .. things are going to boomerang back the other way. ;)
I could do a whole channel, posting daily, about how corrupt our school system is.
