As a Fujin with Yoshimitsu and currently only a Tenryu with Claudio... I can confirm that all of what he's saying here is true. I would like to just add more to the tips he had already given. Hopefully, this helps you all. Defensive tip: Aside from what he had already said about stand blocking and letting your opponents' low poke hit you... Keep fingers on your punch buttons and always anticipate throws because they hurt way more than lows. A good habit to have with breaking throws is observe what hand your opponent is using. If their left hand comes out to grab you, break with 1 button (left punch). Right hand? 2 button (right punch). Both hands? Press both punch buttons at the same time. Offensive tips: 1) Learn at least one move your character has that leaves you at plus frames (aside from the 1 jab). This will be used to give you advantage and set up your next attack. Example: Kazuya's Forward 4 on hit or block. 2) Learn a frametrap - a follow up move after being on plus frames that cannot be interrupted. Since the last move you did leaves you at plus frames you recover faster than your opponent. It SHOULD be still your turn to press. Example: Kazuya's Down-Forward 2 - a homing move that launches (starts a full combo) on counter hit (opponent gets caught pressing buttons and you hit them first) 3) Once you have conditioned your opponent to stop pressing after your plus frames, mix them up with mids, lows, or throws.
I'm going to throw may hat in the ring. Understand a few things: 1) Armor moves beat jabbers/super offensive players, 2) Grabs beat Armor moves and raw heat engagers(it becomes unbreakable if you grab them in their start up frames) , 3) Don't duck unless your opponent is giving you a reason., 5) Lab throw-breaking. Don't like practicing? Well, don't be whining when you get thrown because you'll know why. 4) Don't get bitter because you lose or when you can't land that optimal combo; all worthwhile pursuits have challenges along the way.
I just got to red ranks in bout 50-60 matches and all I’m saying is if it’s your first time playing tekken like it was for me apply what you know from other fighting games while learning what makes this one different and what makes your character different
Awesome video for beginners. Replays and punishment training really are absolute gold. Ive plateaued at flame ruler but also slowed waaaaaaay down on practice mode and replays so thank you for getting me back into that mind set of forcing myself to go back to my replays. Ive stopped playing ranked for the night and deep in my replays before i go to bed
you helped me alot through your journey, i gotten to shinryu, i had though graps of the game, even as a Lili main that havent played for 10 years and just coming back, watching your series and speically the repley part helped alot to adjust to my gaemplay, would even go my way to take an hour break from ranked if i felt stress was coming, watching my repley and try see what i could do better, looking forward to see your tekken journey! also a rising 2 is =when your chracter is getiing up from croch postion, whille in that window you have tools to attack in that animation ^_^)
10:10 Tekken 8 is way easier than older games but Tekken 7 wasn't as hard as TTT2 or T6. And getting Garyu under 100 matches is like someone holding your hand while crossing the road. Who is holding your hand? The rank system. You don't derank up until warrior and you lose less points after a loss than you gain after a win before Garyu. No wonder why 11-12% of all players are at Garyu. Tekken is more complex in the fundamental aspect than other games. However the newer the game the easier it gets and attracts more people with it which is really cool imo. By no means I try to gatekeep here but come on.
@@bilbo_gamez6195 nah that was the only fun part for me XD I cant deal with the lag and shitty optimization of it, also not a fan of the heat and rage arts
At 8:54 you say most pro players ain't doing this. This is factually wrong, anyone who's made it to top 8 in a tourney with no doubt in my mind go thru their own replays. You just don't see it often since they're already that good that they don't even need it anymore as much.
Easy? I fell 850 hours play time but the highest rank i hit was the Vanquisher with Lili. After keeping it for two weeks, i went down to dominator. Besides, thanks to broken cheesy chars like Jin Kazuya azu hwo law king abusing the ranks, i could not get back to Vanquisher again adding they lag switch or cheat.
I don’t know if this is satire but 850 hours doesn’t even seem possible in the time frame and calling Kazuya broken when you play lili is actually insane

This is good. Most beginner videos are not actually beginner videos
“The combo should start with a launching attack.”
*cries in Steve*
Kickass guide tho
I FORGTO ABOUT STEVE, I guess you'll have to use a counter hit lol

What i like about your videos is that they're relatable compared to other tekken guides/"begginer videos" keep up the good work
thank you man Im really glad I could help
The last part is why I love your guides. Too many guides feel overwhelming when you’re a noob.
I really hope this helps man, I'll make new guides each step of the way until we're all Tekken Gods!

So glad to hear that! congrats on shinryu!
@@EnjinFGC cheers, mate looking forward to your next video
I use Victor because 222 4 2 is op (does 45% or 50% hp if you land the full thing) I also side step for a whiff then grab (little risky)
Thanks! I agree on everything. Keep it simple.
OMG UNCLE ENJIN UPLOADED LETS GOO
I also tried Zaf, Reina too

I hit red ranks by using special style king and then I quit the game cause SF6 is more fun for me but I will come back if they make some big changes
LMAO
...maybe dont use a broken character on special style? 😂
@@EnjinFGC hes the most broken champ I legit got red ranks in under 10 hours of gaming lol first time on tekken
