I always take my etched project to the sink and wash it before I take off the vinyl. It protects it from the etching cream. Then I wash it again after I pull off the vinyl. Just a helpful thought to help avoid unwanted marks on the glass from the cream. Thanks for your videos!
I have discovered that coloring in with the Sharpies before you remove the vinyl makes the clean up MUCH easier. I practiced on some jars from my recycling bin.
With baking, I've heard that you should put the glass in a cold oven, then bake, then let them cool for at least 10 minutes in the oven (open the door). The drastic temperature changes can break the glass.
When etching the glasses, I don’t have a problem. When I tried to etch a glass baking pan, I had issues with the etching looking right. Do you have a suggestion on how to make it etch deep enough?
This is my first time watching you and I love what you are doing because I want to do etching with elephants on a flower vase for my daughter and I don't know hoy add color on my etching😊
You should be cleaning off the etching cream BEFORE you remove the stencil not after. ALWAYS protect your glass from stray etching cream. I learned how to do glass etching as a youth in 4-H. Glass etching is so much easier now that you have machines to cut out your designs. We cut ours out by hand with an x-acto knife using Clear Contact paper and our image taped underneath as a pattern to cut out.
I went last week to Joann Fabrics to get some Thanksgiving themed fabric and they did not have a single bolt! Poor thanksgiving just got skipped, I guess but I did score on some beautiful Christmas fabric for $5.00 a yard. I’ll be making and selling dog bandanas.
Can the metallic silver and gold Sharpie paint markers be used too? I didn't see them in the set. That is soooooo cool, and more versatile because there are so many colors!
Are you doing a follow up video with a glass completely done with the sharpie pens? I have etched square dollar tree candle holders with angels and the gold rub.
Hi, I thought your video was great. I would like to know how permanent the engraving is with each method, and especially with Sharpies. Is it possible to use the microwave and dishwasher?
I can't for the life of me get these paint pens to work. The color doesn't come off the excess areas. Then if I use something like alcohol, it takes all the color off. Any other tips now that you've been doing it a few years? Or is there another color option you recommend now? thanks.
I never tried etching. I want to try this and I want to try the merry christmas plate you did. Can you give me the measurements of the mery christmas plate because I cannot get the correct measurements for my plate.
Hi Darlene! The size of the design may differ based on the exact plate you are using. When you measure the inside of the plate, you can take off an inch or so on the sides and top to allow enough room for you to add the cream without the design falling into the sides of the plate - Dawn 😊
Is either rub n buff or sharpie oil pen method truly food-safe? Maybe I missed it in the video. Also is the rub n buff safe to bake? I looked it up and it says to avoid heat. (Maybe tiny amounts aren’t a big deal? 🤔). Thanks!
I would only use it on the out side not the inside where you would have your liquids or food. As for the rub n buff I'm not sure but its worth the test

OMG YES Why didn't I think about it before! Such a great advice!
so, you are cleaning off the cream with the vinyl still attached?
I etched some of the big black soup cups from dollar tree for my inlaws.. they love them
Black? How does that work?
I love etching. Was really scared to try it at first now I’m hooked. LOL

Great tip Kim! Yes it's important to be careful working with glass!

Congrats to the winners. I etch all the time, can't wait to try this.
Yay! Let Us know how it goes!
When you wash etching cream off, leave your stencil on, use color pens & then remove stencil/vinyl.
When etching the glasses, I don’t have a problem. When I tried to etch a glass baking pan, I had issues with the etching looking right. Do you have a suggestion on how to make it etch deep enough?
This is something I had wondered about when I first saw the etching cream. I’m excited to know you actually can.
I know it's great isn't it ? :)

Hi ! Thank you for joining!
Do you think like ink for tshirts would work on the etching to add color?
the one thing to look for is not water based I have learned water based products will just wash off

Can etching on baking dishes cause them to be more likely to crack or shatter in the oven?
Absolutely not like I said I did mine years ago and it looks amazing it also helps during the holidays I know its mine at family dinners

I scrape the excess cream off and return it to the bottle
Yep! You can totally do that!
HOW DO YOU COLOUR THE ETCHING CREAM?
you could ultimately add oil based paint to the etching cream to etch and color at the same time
How did they come out after washing
The color stayed great! We recommend letting the color sit for 24 hours before washing! - Dawn
