"We left there feeling convicted" "ugg....." 😂
#CatholicConvert? I have never once in my entire life spoken to a SINGLE Protestant of any denomination/non-denomination/trans-denomination/whatever who could prove that their church had the authority from God to preach the Truth. All I ever hear is that they FEEL like the Truth is present....and therefore....we should....listen....yeah. Doesn't that BOTHER Protestants to not be able to answer a question THAT important? It positively BAFFLES me.
Faith is all about feeling, my friend. It doesn't bother Protestants because they don't believe the same things as Catholics.
False. Faith is an act of the will. Feelings may influence our acts of will, but REASON must always lead. Emotions must always be in support of and subordinate to reason, or we will SURELY go astray. Sin often FEELS great and virtue often FEELS lousy. We must train our emotions to match our reason, not the other way around. When the Israelites were told to march around Jericho over and over again, I'm sure some of them FELT stupid--what would have happened if they had let their feelings lead and their reason follow? When Christ taught about the Eucharist (John 6), many of His followers felt deeply disturbed and downright repulsed by the doctrine and left Him because it seemed wrong to them (and btw, verse 6:66 is the only time in the New Testament where it is recorded that Christ lost followers because of one of His teachings). St. Peter and the Apostles led with reason and subjected their emotions to it when they placed their faith in Christ regardless of how His teachings made them feel.
horacepthompkim No specific church has the only authority to preach the gospel. Authority comes from Scripture and Scripture alone. Even if Jesus had established a temporal organisation to fulfil His bidding, you would have to prove to me that the Roman Catholic Church can lay claim to that spiritual authority. Peter may have been the leader of the church in apostolic authority, but as it says in many time in the NT, he was an apostle to the JEWS, not the Gentiles/Rome. Your traditions are your authority on this matter, so maybe you should read about what Jesus thought about the traditions of man in Mark chapter 7.
The Eucharist is certainly not biblical and your statement about how the disciples left Him in disgust is a poor scriptural reference for it. In fact, you show that you understand His words as poorly as those disciples who left Him. He says in John 6:63 that the words he speaks are a spiritual metaphor. The adoration of the wafer is a heretical and blasphemous tradition that has its origins in the pagan temples of Rome. As if a priest has the power to call Jesus down from heaven so that He may be an eternal bloodless sacrifice on your altars. Its almost as if the Catholic church has never opened the book of Hebrews.
All of Catholicism is a version of Christianized paganism. It's no wonder that the Pope is called the Pontifex Maximus, the same title for the Pagan high priest of ancient Rome. The Catholic church is the harlot of Revelation and only has the authority to do the work of the devil.
+David Scholfield Your assertion that “no specific church has the only authority to preach the gospel” is a divine claim requiring a divine authority-you do not have the divine authority to make such a claim. You believe it because it feels right and because you would have to reevaluate your entire life if it were not right. That’s a lot of pressure, and I get that. But Truth is not something we can manipulate, because Truth is God. We can either find Him or we can become misled by the world, the flesh, and the devil. Have NO FEAR when seeking God-even if your search leads you places you never wanted to go.
When you say “authority comes from Scripture and Scripture alone” I first want to point out that no-where in
Scripture will you find that doctrine, so your assertion is self-defeating. Sola-Scriptura is a tradition of man (a particular man, in fact….I will never understand the Protestants’ blind faith in Martin Luther-he was a disgusting
anti-Semitic).
Secondly, this leads me to another doctrinal problem NO Protestant has EVER been able to answer for when I ask them about it (and I’m open to you being the first! I posed the question to an SDA pastor the other day whom I was told could answer it….he couldn’t. I have found no Protestants answering it on the internet either. The only Protestants whom I HAVE heard explain it are now Catholic converts): Protestants presume--without explaining or certifying in any respect-two authorities when it comes to the Holy Scriptures.
1) God did not hand the Apostles a completed Bible with instructions about which books were divinely inspired and
which books were not. Some Church who had the authority from GOD to make such decisions put the Bible together and declared definitively which books belonged and which books did not. Every time YOU open your Bible, you are accepting THAT authority-but you’ve never stopped to think about it, have you? SO. All Protestants who use any Bible that is not a Catholic Bible are PRESUMING the authority of the Catholic Church (who, if you’ll do some history research, put the Bible together and declared the infallibility of the books contained) AND the authority of Martin Luther (the insane ex-Catholic anti-Semitic)…some even presume the divine authority of Kind James too. Why the HECK do Protestants feel comfortable presuming those authorities where their eternal souls are concerned???
2) It is obvious from Scripture itself as well as our experiences reading Scripture that interpretation is absolutely
required. Do YOU have the divine authority to declare definitively whether Christ meant “eat my flesh” figuratively or literally? Obviously His followers were coming to different conclusions, as do people today. So the second PRESUMED authority by all Protestants is the individual: they apparently believe that Scripture may be
interpreted by the individual (either themselves or their pastors or whathaveyou).
A typical conversation that I have repeated many times with Protestants of different backgrounds and denominations goes like this: They begin very politely and confidently, believing they speak with authority and Truth. At some point, I pose one of these questions/ issues to them. They start acting nervous and irritable. Their smiles disappear. They try to dodge the question. I explain how necessary it is that they be able to answer it-all of their beliefs rest upon their ability to answer it, in fact. Sooner or later they cut the conversation short-and before they answer the question-and leave.
I’m not trying to be rude here (I have many dear friends and family members who are still Protestants)-this has simply been my experience time and time again. I understand how fearsome it must be to be faced with a foundational question about your faith that you discover to your horror that neither you nor your pastor can answer, but I assure you: with God, the answers are ALWAYS available-but you must go forth without fear! NEVER stop your search for God out of fear of where it may lead! There is never any reason to fear growing close to God-even if it means becoming a Catholic.
"Interdenondenominational" 😂 "an intern will come out and hold your arms up"
Sadie Cherish that was perfect
😆
What is there such a word?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
HAHha i laughed so hard about the internship program thing LOL
"Ted talk with a Bible verse"
This is something a pastor of mine always says. "Church is more than a Ted Talk with a Christian concert."
You could tell the actress almost broke character. She wasn't expecting such an accurate statement.
Omg, right when I read this post, John Crist said it in the video lol
I cracked up when he said that lol. This was a funny mini series
Living together that's the big elephant in the room.
Next church has got to be a just starting out church that doesn't have it's own building yet. One that meets in a middle school gym or a closed down Kmart.
Lmao
I literally just saw a church going up in a closed down Kmart.
At least 5 of them in my town.
Or a movie theatre, like my church.
David Wellman lol my church is in a middle school gym 😂
This is funny until you think about the fact that there are actually people like this whether they want to admit it or not. 😂
ExtremeBlackAttack lady in a salon told us she was"church shopping" referenced the first church video and said that that was where they were right now... she wasn't joking tho 🤐
ExtremeBlackAttack did you know, there are some churches that open new in a neighborhood and they would actually take a survey house to house to see what the people want in the church. They then would mold the church around that.. one church I know ended up with like a food court and daycare where the parents didn't have to attend church but could leave the kids off during church hours.. this is all to say they have "members".
Glad im not the only one who thought that
Baba Penn-Timity
This is hilarious...reminded me of the scripture they will call out teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled....
Sad but true.
where?
"I feel more connected when the worship leader is attractive personally"
Veni Vidi Amavi same!!😂😂😂
Or sexy. A little cleavage showing, right?
Mine is so hot lol
Smh
Veni Vidi Amavi 😂🤣He actually said that? He is so wrong for that
"We left there feeling convicted." That's a REAL church!!!
🙃
"I emailed the pastor and he didnt immediately respond so Im taking these vessels out of here!"Lol
DYoung2112 I know so many people like that.
That was funny 😆
Where's episode 3? Don't leave us hanging!
2020 edition--best remote service 2021--Reconnecting
the words "tumblr bible" made me throw up a little.
I am a person who is in Tumblrism
Yes....can you imagine a Bible where you don't actually have to do the things God wants you to do!?..like say, the "New" Testament...where God's "old" Laws are just thrown out, because everybody knows God can't make up His mind!
@Soso Mama its actually here....we need to be so vigilant!
Dear Lord...
I forgot what tumblr is
"a bethel minus the spontaneous stuff" 😂😂
Luke Williams HAHA!!!
Luke Williams I was just going to comment this exact thing haha. So funny
Luke Williams soooooo good!!!! Hahahha
Hey It's my favorite channel for good Christian Music!!!!
who - Bethel?
Absolutely hysterical, but unfortunately true in today's society. Church seems to be all about "me" today, which is so wrong
Isn't that just general American culture? Everything is about ME? You guys needs some good OL COMMUNISM. Yes, Jesus LOVES communism. He is a communist himself!
@@HermanWillems .............
@@HermanWillems please tell me your comment is a joke
@@LaineBurglass23 yes its a joke. But there ia always a source of truth in a joke.
That doesn’t even make sense
literally YOU HAVE TO KEEP THIS SERIES UP !! SO FUN(ny) !!!!
Joy Joy literally You have to keep commenting
Joy Joy Hey Joy Joy👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾
Worship assist program. 😂
We got that in my church it's called if you aren't worshiping we are shaming
Please don’t abbreviate that!
@@Asphaltaperider He predicted it 3 years ago
@@benshim333 yes he did. A modern day Nostradamus😂.
"I like Kari Jobe"
"She's married"
"uh, so is Kristian Stanfill"
ROTFL. Keep it up John XD
Ikr and her "..Wow..." with a half smile after that had me rollin lmao
Daniel Flores I think Chris Brown from Elevation Worship would be more of the attractive worship leader goals.
I find the guy who sang resurrection and Jesus I come more attractive 🤷🏽♀️
Kathy Bates are we really lusting over ‘Christian’ leaders singers? Chris Brown? I know this is satire, but really. If you all are comparing real people for real, I’d check the Word. So a man thinketh in his heart, so he is. If young people so called Christians go beyond satire (which I’m hoping is to prove a point to the Christian community how shallow and ill focused we are in our walk with Christ) to compare reality, the church of God is worse of than I thought.
Truth through comedy.
Indeed.
"Left there feeling convicted, ugh...like a Ted talk with a Bible verse." I'm still laughing!!!
Linda Reyburn Shirey both of those are my favorite lines from this episode
My church interns don't hold my arms up should I find a new church? It's Biblical because I'm pretty sure Moses did that right?
I don't even know That's the first thing that came to my mind, Aaron and Hur holding up Moses' arms 😂
Of course!1!1!1 You know, Moses got tired. He was an elderly person, so you can't expect much more. Remember to respect your elders and their decisions. If Moses wanted his arms to be held up, I'm not judging!
😂😂😂😂😂
Lol😂😂
lol that's true I didn't think of that.
basically all modern Christians who claim they aren't like this. perfect.
I don't plan to leave my church when I'm an adult, I've been their all my life and I'd feel out of place somewhere else
purplecatlover1825 randompizza I’ve been at my church 34 years (since I was born)... my last Sunday is tomorrow.
Zoe Z Did you find a better church?
Protestants.
She grew up Catholic and is shopping around. That's pretty accurate
*the Catholic: “We drink.”
*the baptist: “Yea, but like, in private.”
But then we go out in public drunk, right?
Their pickiness is what makes this SO HILARIOUS!!
Miss Me Yuppies are like this. Don't mention the poor or helping your neighbor
Sadly that's the reality of modern Christianity. People church shop like they clothes shop
Whoa, I felt like this one was even more direct than the first one. I'm not saying it was bad or inappropiate, it's just difficult to laugh at (in my case anyways) when you see the sad reality behind it all.
Milton Oquendo same here.
The beauty of Satire
It is sad, but it makes perfect sense: Churches create this culture when they stretch themselves to more and more ridiculous lengths to people-please. Jesus never scrambled to reach a number quota, in fact he had a tendency to say some really difficult things with the intention of weeding out people who weren't serious about God (Matthew 13: 10-16). In other words, we can shake our heads at spoiled people, but it's only natural that they'd be spoiled when so many churches spend the majority of their time strategizing how to make the service about the preferences of the congregation instead of making it about teaching God's desire for our character.
@@kcald9891 Amen sister. A lot of the modern churches seem to mold the church to fit the way of the world. The bible says to do the opposite. A pastor named Paul Washer said, "If you use carnal people to attract people to your church, then you will only attract carnal men. People who are Lukewarm in faith and don't want to repent.
@@kcald9891 this was so beautifully said and on point!
Molded Clay Jar Art Tapestry Canvas Mosaic Church -- Leave Inspire; not convicted.
And leave with a free gift...a new age demon.
Els 😂😂😂
So glad I'm an Eastern Catholic. These churches just seem like pop culture.... and I'm sure there's churches and church hunters like that out there...
Even usher came here once. Yeah!
"Like Bethel but without the spontaneous stuff." Lost it. 😂
Eric Champlin same ahahaha
Please like if you're hoping they'll make episode 3!!
'yeah for us, what we need, 2, 2:15 is best' 😛
I replayed it like five times and it’s like a meme

Absolutely adore this series! Hilarious as always
"I'm a Kari Jobe kind of guy". 😅 I'm glad to have met you yesterday John.
John Brown "Actually Kristian Stanfil is married" 😂😂😂

The "Worship Assist Program" had me dead! LOL!
I was dying this whole video! 😂😂 great series!!
You are doing Gods work. So funny
That church was too traditional I mean We left there feeling convicted.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
THERE NEEDS TO BE AN EPISODE 3
Spot. On. Which is sad, when you think about it.
I'm Lutheran, my arms Never get tired in Church 😉 also, the video is playing a 2nd time while I'm writing this- reminds me kinda of the show- The Office.

Lol!!! I hope there is an episode 3
So is Kristen Stanfill. . . That conviction though
Hey John! We need Church Hunters 3!!!!!!!
You didn't show "next time on Church Hunters" :(
Hahahaha (sad) but also true. Truth can come out through humor nice way to be convicted. You guys are so funny God bless you. Keep it up. Laughing is good medicine.
I don't think the church these two are looking for actually exists. Fantastic satire and a wonderful take on modern pop culture 👍👌👍👍💞💕💗💗💓
Yes it's funny, but really sad at the same time because there's a lot of truth in this.
Worship assistant program 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m dying. Laughing and crying. I know these people. Different faces, but same expectations.
John at 2:35 hahahah "2:15 is best" with hand motion emphasis lol. This series is super hilarious and creative!
Next they take them to an FSSP parish: “wait Mass is only in Latin here??”
Keep em coming, John!
This is soooo akward and true. :/
I so need someone to come hold my arms up after just two songs.
💖🙏🙌🙌🙏💖
Usher even came here one time...yeah!!.
I feel uncomfortable watching this even though it's satire 😂 this is hilarious!
"like a TEDTalk with a Bible verse!" HAHA
Oh yes. So glad to hear there is a "Holy Bible: The Tumblr Version" . Of course ! And the concerns about needing to feel inspired but not convicted so its a comfortable experience. Awesome. Love the ways they describe the right "vibe " they are seeking. Attractive worship leaders, type of room and aesthetics, and Ted Talk with a Bible Verse. I continue to enjoy John D Crist original twists on things. This kind of humor helps point out how easy the no-God-world sneaks in to our thinking,.disguised , disrupting, never satisfied, self seeking, and negative.
"A Ted talk with a Bible verse"!!!! THAT'S Classic!!!!
Hahaha this hits the truth so right. I've been a church home cell leader for a few years now at University and some of the excuses I hear from young people as why they don't want to attend our church is just nonsense. One guy didn't appreciate the members shouting "Amen" when the pastor preached
Yeah that Worship Assist Program has aged well now 😅
This series is the best! Can't wait for episode 3!
"Ted Talk with a Bible verse" LOL that's perfect!
I loved the worship assistance program
When he pulled out the flyers 💀
Ted talk with a bible verse. Dying.
This hits home cause i actually work for the church they went to in this video
PLEASE MAKE AN EPISODE 3! Best sketches ever
These are absolutely hilarious. I can't believe I hadn't heard of these until now!
"TEDx Talk with a bible verse!!" Hilarious.
this is HYSTERICAL. high fives to the creators of this.
"My arms get SO tired from yoga!"

Wait, I work at a restaurant like a mile away from the church where they were talking about the celebrities
Like a Ted talk with a Bible verse hahahaha
"Ted Talk with a Bible verse." Awesome.
This series is hilarious! My favorite part is the "Bethel minus the spontaneous stuff" LOL. Plus to be honest I'm a Kari Jobe kind of guy too. Her voice is beautiful!
The best part is that they played this at my church before sermon 😂
Mochii Tsuki
That is amazing.
I go to a small SDA traditional church yet this was so hilarious and relatable. More of these please 🤣🤣😂😂
We need mooooooore! This is GENIUS! 😂
I can't select like the best lines or best moments bc it is perfect from end to end.
