I love the half doors my 06 TJ has, the uppers have 2 glass piece sliders rather than a clear plastic zipped up flap for a window and I love it. It isn’t exactly the best for going thru drive throughs though.
Mine doesn't have A/C but I have the Half-door with sliding windows which is good for winter season/climate. I don't know if it's as good as the full -door but it is solid enough compared to plastic windows.
Your jeep has to be the nicest...simplest build i have seen. After seeing yours i am really considering pulling my lift and going with a smaller one. Thanks for the great videos on your jeep.
Yes, I agree having both doors is good for different situations but when in doubt, always carry the lightest ones on your to switch it out when off-roading/camping. I have a '96 Wrangler with sliding windows so I would consider those a bit more heavier than the plastic but the rest of my soft-top has plastic and zippers...o/w (love the net though) Great video!
'96 Wrangler? Those exist? There's only a 1995 as the YJ and one year w/ no production for the factory was spooling up for the then-new 1997 TJ and labelled as a '97 Wrangler as possibly made 10-1996 as a '97. WoW! _You got a rare bird there if it called a '96 even if it was made in '96_ ...must be a Jeep QJ ( *Questionable Jeep* ).
My Jeep is not my daily driver so i'm half doors and soft top all the way. 90% of the time i take the soft top down and upper doors off. Sometimes I'll leave the upper doors on with the soft top down for longer trips to lesson the wind noise.
Unrelated question, do you have problems with your E-brake? I've only owned my 04 for a little over a year and I have had it "fixed' once and it went out again a few months later. Is this common with them? Being a 5 speed I would like to have it working. Thanks! Now I need soft doors too! Lol Great vid
Surprised this is a 2018 video. All you see nowadays is JKU crap and JL videos. I love my TJ, it's also red. I want half doors. I had them on my old YJ but need some for my TJ for trails and camping.
Thanks for the comparison. I would like to find a nice used pair of full doors reasonably priced, but around here in California at least, they go from $800 to $1000 a pair. With as many that were made you would think that $500 would buy them all day long!
When switching back and forth between half door and full door do you have do anything with the trim on the jeep where the doors seal to the jeep when they are shut
I love those. The YJ I was looking at had soft top and slider windows, sold before I could get out there. I haven't seen them on another jeep for sale since :(
This is like having best of both worlds on my 1999 Jeep TJ I just have half doors but I love them, I take the whole door off and I have aftermarket mirror's that mount on it 👍
My 06' Rubi has always had the hardtop on, tho I do have the soft top in the shed. I love using the soft top half doors when wheeling tho. Can easily see my driver's tire by leaning out a bit, and I like the looks. I throw the window uppers on it when trailering it somewhere.
I have full doors and I wanna change into half doors cause they're definitely cooler but, will that mean that my keys won't work anymore? Like the full door keys on the half doors? And will the half door keys work to actually turn the Jeepon, or would I still need to use the original keys?
Thanks for your video. I don't see the point of buying half doors at all. One of the great and unique things about jeeps is running No Doors. For me it's either full doors or none.
Congrats. My 98 sport came w/ factory soft top and hard 1/2 doors. Took awhile but I bought full doors, then the full hardtop both through craigslist. It’s a PITA to swap out each fall and winter but it’s great having both tops all year round.
I just bought a 1998 TJ for $200 here in Erie, PA. All rusted, but plan to build for offroad use. It came with half doors but with glass panels. Kylesvt what alternator do you use in your TJ, mine needs replaced.
Kyle Forbes I would say an optima battery would help the most with that. If your getting a new alternator might as well upgrade to higher output if you want.
No lift with 35s? Ive got a 4" lift on my 06 and had to cut a bit in front on the rear tires. My friend with a 3" lift had to do the same. Rubbed when fully compressed.
I hav the factory half doors with mine....with soft top. If I had hard top would have went with full doors. As far as security....with the soft top I never even bothered to lock it. If they want in they’ll just cut the top if locked. Never kept anything in Jeep that if someone took I would miss. With full doors when replacing top you won’t have to buy upper door skins. Can get expensive. Great video 👍 keep the wave going 👋
Just a quick question. Have you ever had a problem with the police or getting your jeep inspected because of the metal cloak fenders beings that most states require your fenders to cover the full tire tread?
Man I don’t want to sound like a hater or a troll, just my opinion. I think they are only good at going off road. 2 doors don’t take more than 4 passengers and certainly not comfortably. Even the backseat of 4 doors is very cramped. They can’t take hardly any cargo so those 4 people can’t bring much luggage. They have very low towing capacities. They do not have nice interiors. Just imho a full size truck goes off road every bit as well but does bring people in comfort with all their luggage in a nice quiet interior with a nicer ride while towing a boat or RV or camper and as a bonus they have a nice v8 sound. My 2 cents
Oh of course! Those are some valid points. The new jeep JL interior is super nice I would say tho. Capacity vs truck the truck has more but as far as normal 5 seater suvs the 4 door wrangler fits about the same. The 2 door is for sure less practical if you have a big family or need to carry lots of stuff but for my needs it has plenty of space when you take the rear seat out. I would say most people who are looking at getting a jeep are not in the market for a truck or compare them to a truck. Jeep is more of a fun vehicle that can do some great offloading and has a very unique on road driving experience. Driving around with the top off and door off is a very cool "motorcycle like" experience. It's not for everyone but if you have driven one like that you might appreciate it more.
KyleSVT yeah I get you, off road convertible is the selling point. Fun without worrying about being the most practical. Me personally I couldn’t daily one but they’re very very popular so people love them
Hello, I am a new Jeep owner. I got a 2003 sport. It has a hard top on it right now. But when I take it off. I have a gap between the side roll bar and the full metal door. I see that you don’t have that issue. Where did you get the The peace between your roll bar in the Full metal door?
Will Thomas yeah it was a good deal but im pretty sure his doors didn’t come with the inside part of the door and he had to completely repaint it. So it was basically a door with no insides and a different color
Man that red jeep looks new
I love the half doors my 06 TJ has, the uppers have 2 glass piece sliders rather than a clear plastic zipped up flap for a window and I love it. It isn’t exactly the best for going thru drive throughs though.
Best of both worlds running one half door and one full door!
Like back in the day when I used to wear two different color Converse sneakers.
Mine doesn't have A/C but I have the Half-door with sliding windows which is good for winter season/climate. I don't know if it's as good as the full -door but it is solid enough compared to plastic windows.

A very thorough explanation and comparison. My like is yours!
I have half doors on my tj love them 👌
I love my hardtop and full doors lol can’t beat the ac! Lol I like to take off the doors and hardtop for special occasions
My dream car is the wrangler with the half doors 😍
Just bought myself a 2005 tj sport same color looking to get myself doors like these.

what bumper you got on ur jeep?
Rugged Ridge XHD
The 1/2 doors for the JK's are hard too find! Haha!

Thanks for doing this for us jeepers man your awesome •|||||||•
Thanks brother!
Anyone who thinks a softop is more secure with full doors is simply delusional.

Old Jeep are better lol
Of Course "Thumbs Up"!
U do know that there r different type of half doors? My half’s slide not a zipper!
Jake J4x4 where did you buy those?
Nick Harvey my uppers?

Thanks for the comparison. I would like to find a nice used pair of full doors reasonably priced, but around here in California at least, they go from $800 to $1000 a pair. With as many that were made you would think that $500 would buy them all day long!

What LED headlights do you have (brand & model)??
Sunpie led from Amazon
Was this the same Wrangler that once had the nice hard top you sold me?
sure was!
I like the full door with soft top
When switching back and forth between half door and full door do you have do anything with the trim on the jeep where the doors seal to the jeep when they are shut
nope
If you had actual oem half doors that are red you would be singing a different song
I do now
You also need to do the half door with the slider glass window lol. My tj has them and other than drive through restaurants I love them
haha I mostly don't even use my windows when I have my half doors on
I love those. The YJ I was looking at had soft top and slider windows, sold before I could get out there.

Just yesterday I locked my keys in my TJ. I just grabbed a torx bit, removed 5 screws and took the hinges off, got right in.
My 06' Rubi has always had the hardtop on, tho I do have the soft top in the shed. I love using the soft top half doors when wheeling tho. Can easily see my driver's tire by leaning out a bit, and I like the looks. I throw the window uppers on it when trailering it somewhere.

I will be doing a video on swapping the door locks from full doors to half doors soon!
@@KyleSVT sweet, I'll wait for that then! Thanks!!
Thanks for your video.
I don't see the point of buying half doors at all. One of the great and unique things about jeeps is running No Doors.

Great video. please do more videos about these two interesting doors. We will appreciate that.
Congrats. My 98 sport came w/ factory soft top and hard 1/2 doors. Took awhile but I bought full doors, then the full hardtop both through craigslist. It’s a PITA to swap out each fall and winter but it’s great having both tops all year round.
I love the half doors but I can’t find the OEM half doors for less than about k on ebay. All the aftermarket doors I see are tube door.
My TJ Sahara I just got came with steel half doors body colored so that was nice in the deal and a soft and hard top
So you bought the half doors off Craigslist so can you use your normal to unlock/lock them or did you have to get new ones for it?
no I dont have the keys for them so I just never lock it when I have the half doors on
AMMO!
Can i ask? What size tires and rims do you have?
15inch wheels and 35inch tires
Great video
Thanks!
What front fenders do you have?
metalcloak overline
1/2 Doors are the best. Can not what to see the JL 1/2 doors so I can order my new Jeep
What year and everything is your Jeep ? I’m looking for a cheep 1998-2006 Jeep for my first car I’m 15 now turning 16 in 8 months
my Jeep is a 2001
Who the hell would thumbs down this Jeep?
Would you be interested in seeking one day?
I just bought a 1998 TJ for $200 here in Erie, PA. All rusted, but plan to build for offroad use. It came with half doors but with glass panels.
Kylesvt what alternator do you use in your TJ, mine needs replaced.
Hey Kyle! Very cool. Mine is the stock alternator
90amp is stock. would 100amp help anything for like LEDs light bars, winch, radio w/ speakers?
Kyle Forbes I would say an optima battery would help the most with that. If your getting a new alternator might as well upgrade to higher output if you want.
I like my YJ. It is a much better-looking JEEP style.
HEY!, betcha don't have KM3
Had a question non related, did you touch up your dash with that plastic spray? If so, would you recommend a brand?
ua-cam.com/video/qHjKl98xXxw/v-deo.html
where is the best place to get full doors? Mine has half doors and I'd like to get full doors.
Craigslist, Junk yards ,ebay etc
Might be driving one with half doors to school. Should I be worried about someone breaking in?
Unless you have a hard top and full doors I wouldn't leave anything of value in it
Who manufactures the front fenders on the Sport? That Jeep is well-done. Bravo.
Metalcloak. Thanks!
Hey friend, the top that you use with the complete doors, it seals well with the half of the door, there is no problem of water seepage or something
Seals perfect no leaks
Gotta get me some half doors
Nice build man. Love the tubular fenders and bull bar on the front- are they custom?
Thanks! No they are from metalcloak
You need to get Rubicon mirrors they look good and better Quality that’s my opinion
Thanks! I actually prefer the older more square 97-02 mirrors
Hi what lift do you have?Size tyres?
35s no lift just metalcloak fenders
No lift with 35s? Ive got a 4" lift on my 06 and had to cut a bit in front on the rear tires. My friend with a 3" lift had to do the same. Rubbed when fully compressed.
please help dude what mirrors can i run with half door that help me see out the passenger side window? Thanks!
The mirors are factory on my half doors

Hey Jeff,
I am planning to get a Jeep TJ. I need your help to decide on it. Please let me know how can I reach out to you.
Thanks!
Hey man nice video...was wondering if you have the reference of the seats ? are these stocks ?
Thanks! Yes they are stock 01-02 seats
My TJ has half-doors. Do you know a place that I can buy full doors for it?
craigslist
how can i make my dash plastics looks as pristine as yours lol, those look brand new!
Thanks! Well I use ammo nyc products to keep my jeep clean but the low mileage of my jeep helps
Where can you buy full doors for a TJ? Or half doors that dont zip?
Any of the online Jeep retailers should have those
Just a quick question. Have you ever had a problem with the police or getting your jeep inspected because of the metal cloak fenders beings that most states require your fenders to cover the full tire tread?
I live in a free state not a communist one. No inspections here
^^^^^^^
@@KyleSVT which state is that? Because, Rhode Island and Mass sucks bro
What charcoal paint you used?
Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner

I bought another set for my half doors
I.Y.A.A.Y.A.S.
I'm definitely a full door kind of guy.
I enjoy having both. But If I had to only choose one it would be full doors
Hello, I am a new Jeep owner. I got a 2003 sport. It has a hard top on it right now. But when I take it off. I have a gap between the side roll bar and the full metal door. I see that you don’t have that issue. Where did you get the The peace between your roll bar in the Full metal door?
It's for the soft top. It's called the door surrounds. Only works with the soft top. So unless you get a soft top you dont need them
Thank you for the information. When I go top less, I need them correct?
no problem. Nope your fine

Very cool! Interesting. The 4.0l jeep engine is one of the most rilable engines out there.
Sarcasm at best....👍
How much did it cost to buy your half doors. The Jeep I plan to get only has the full door so I was wanting to find an oem door online somewhere.
