When I was a young man I carried a full size revolver or 1911 year round. In cold weather or summer heat. They were stainless steel. Now I use a snubby revolver year round still stainless and still adequate.

Absolutely I've been carrying snub nose
38 for years nowadays I carry a Smith 342 air light TI 11 oz unloaded centennial 38 special.. I carry it in my right front pocket in DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.. I can draw that gun faster than on a belt holster also I can hit accurately out to 50 ft.. I recently installed crimson Trace laser grips the shorter ones the rubber grips reduce felt recoil and I use iron sights but the laser dot confirms my point of aim

Btw with My Smith airlite centennial 11 oz snub in my pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis holster.. if I feel something suspicious I can have my hand in my pocket on the grip finger off the trigger ready to draw.. and believe me I can draw a lot faster from my pocket and from a belt holster especially if I have to lift my clothing to get to it

I don't have a carry "rotation", I have a carry gun. As in ONE. For all occasions. While not quite full size, it is a Sig P229 in 357 Sig. Carried OWB at 3 o'clock. Conceals fine under a t-shirt. It would not be a problem going to a P226 in the same setup.

MAN, I CANNOT get myself to wear a fanny pack!
    WIsh I could.
I don't look at someone who IS wearing a fanny pack and think "what a dork"....I just CAN'T do it.
I do look at them and think, "you have a gun in there.....that's GOOD!"

I carry a ruger lcr revolver in 9mm, light and it disappears in my pocket. Carry it year round, jeans and shorts. Nvr leaves my pocket. I like the 9mm round, but I like the reliability of a revolver over a lint collecting semi pocket rocket.

For my mower and tractor I have my 92 or 94 in a scabbard ! Seems to get the job done and the 92 is particularly good with snake loads for close-in work with rattle snakes. A good backup is a square point shovel.

YES, they do. Ruger (which I love) seem to rust first.

Have a seamstress enlarge the mouths of your pants pockets and you can carry a 6" long, 16 oz single stack 9mm anywhere and all of the time. From the "hand in pocket' start, IF you practice side stepping as you draw, you can 'beat the drop", which is not possible with any other sort of CCW rig/draw. Not even close.

Good episode guys. Thanks. I have used a fanny pack since 86. I started with a S and W M39 and later a chrome dick special. Now use a belly band with a shield. Or a 856 no laughing I’m an old worn out mechanic

My wife was 4-10 and carried a 642 S &W . 38 . She weighed maybe 100 pounds at the time. I carry a XD 9 sub compact and that is not a problem .

Having witnessed a bad situation with a fellow officer's "off body carry", I have not been a fan. This conversation is helping me to at least reconsider that position.

I live in warm humid central TX. I used to live in Southern AZ. where the temps would be in triple digits for about 9 months. I carry the same both winter and summer. But I cheat about it. I pocket carry in my cargo pants with my red dot hellcat in a sticky holster. Now if I have to dress up like suit or slacks and coat, yeah I'll go with my LCP but still pocket carry in another sticky holster.

It's Too Hot to Carry! - GMP #232
If I dress sloppy with a long sleeve over shirt is one way but everybody knows you are carrying that way. The way I usually carry in hot weather is a long shirt tail t-shirt or other long tail short sleeve shirt of some sort. I IWB at 4 O'clock with the shirt tucked in and just pull enough shirt out of the pants so its loose and that the outline does not show. The bump is still there under the pants though and can be seen. Otherwise I will OWB at 4 O'clock with the shirt tail out. I have been known to carry in a calf holster if pants legs are large enough. Most folks don't care if you are printing but it sure is no fun when some kid says, "He's got a gun." Some folks pocket carry but I can't get into having a large pocket bulge and weight hanging down when trying to have mobility especially when squatting to do a task and that large pocket bulge is noticeable for small folks. Big legged folks can get away with it not being as noticeable. Small size folks are at a disadvantage trying to hide a gun on their small body. I won't get into the dangers of carrying appendix or a belly gun that folks do but I won't do it, nor will I wear a belly band. If I am going to carry then I am going to be as comfortable as I can make it and a belly gun just won't do that even beyond the dangers of that carry position.

I ride a large Canam Spyder motorcycle, so I like to carry with a high sitting owb leather holster, and my shirt never comes up enough that anyone can see it. Although in Missouri everyone carries so it’s moot lol 🤠Gene

They said this to me but for good reason, and hot not referring to climate but to recoil, namely I used to carry an obnoxious custom .460Rowland, so as said for good reason. Since then I wised up and "only" carry a 10mm , so still 1,000Joules of stopping power and plenty "hot" ahah About the hot as in weather, I simply change my holster, nothing else.

👕 Undershirt is a must/norm, for me, carrying on body or not.
For the same purpose why we wear under shorts and socks.

I carried my Colt Detective Special IWB, in a leather holster year round for off duty and as my back-up in a shoulder holster for on- duty. Never had to use it but it was always there.
The rest of this is whining and much ado about nothing .

    • @banditone00
      @banditone00 3 місяці тому +1

My detective special is my work backup as well. I use a simply rigged pocket holster. I took a three day class with Daryl Bolke, Cecil Burch, and Chuck Haggard. We all used snub nose revolvers, and did a lot of good work. I carry other things because I enjoy it, but if I had to carry my detective special for the rest of my life, I would feel pretty comfortable. I don’t carry smaller for temperature, but so that in some situations my weapon is actually concealed, and not just covered.

Summer carry? That is moronic. No such thing as summer carries in Iraq.
