Your honesty and transparency is admirable Prof. It’s this kind of integrity that keeps me coming back to this channel again and again since those very early videos. Thank you... you and your hard work, and your love for this community are appreciated more than we can say.

    Dear Professor,
I do not post often, if at all on video, but this one moved me to say something. This video explains perfectly why I am a fan and patron of your work. The honesty, respect, creativity, and critical thinking you apply to your work is commendable. You are not just a good MTG content creator; you are a model for everyone who wishes to garner respect and trust in reviewing products. As you grow, making and learning from new mistakes, I hope to see the channel grow with you.
    Sincerely,
    Jacob
P.S. I've been meaning to ask, can I get an extension on the Mill 306 midterm? I forgot some of the material while studying, and I can't figure out why.

The common thread I see connecting all of these is your underestimation of how substantial and powerful your individual voice is, not as an absolute MTG authority figure of course, but as a well known and respected player. whether it was not accessing how damaging it could be when used incorrectly (in the case of binders) or downplaying it's significance when it came to speaking up about an issue (in the case of card-stock quality). I think the lesson to be learnt from all this is to not underestimate yourself and your opinions but be honest and outspoken about what worries you, and do it in a humble manner that is open to being corrected and better informed. And from all I've seen in your channel, you're not only a great prof but a great student also!
Thanks for contributing to the MTG community!

Professor not all of us watch very many channels in this community. I am not an avid MTG player. Me and my wife just do not have the time to invest in this hobby. When we do play its usually release boxes we get here and there and enjoy at family gatherings, something we learned from your channel. It keeps new players and older player on a fairly level playing field and quickly became the way my family enjoys MTG to this day . Also we are speaking of maybe once or twice a year at best. The wife and I came to enjoy the way you present information since your early videos and trust your content. So, even if information has been stirred in the community pot for some time I probably will not become aware of it unless it is shown on your channel. I feel I cannot be alone in this. You are the main source of information or the connection to the community for me. The lurkers of the community need your messages! Thank you for this video and please keep up the amazing content.

Prof...When you get opportunities to interview the God Geeks of MTG Ivory tower, you can't be concerned about being "different." Never forget personality of the content reviewer differs. Maybe they would answer YOUR questions more so then another's cause of respect or accuracy of the content creator.

I follow what is coming out. I watch and still love the videos you put out. Even though not much in the hobby anymore. Why do I still watch, our honesty and integrity. That you are human and make mistakes. You stand for what you believe is right even when trolls and haters come at you. Thank You Prof.

I love your open-letter videos, Professor. They are so inspiring and you are really a remarkable person and teacher for life. I love your honesty and willing to admit mistakes and to learn from it. But other then that, in all seriousness and as a person leaning towards being too hard on oneself myself, I would be really happy to see another video soon called: "Things that I'm Proud of the Most: Magic: The Gathering UA-camr." One could be proud withought being arrogant, and if an inside voice is telling you that it's more humble to admit of faults then admitting of achivements - well, then this voice is just as bad as the voices of pride that drove you into making said mistakes in this video. Really, Brian, it will mean a lot for me to hear such a video from you. Love and appreciation as always!

I have to say Prof, that despite the fact that you have banned many commenters with legitimate criticisms of your channel (no, not trolls or offensive comments), despite your Twitter dripping with toxicity and passive-aggressive arrogance, I still watch almost every video, every review or opinion piece. As a person who has watched all of your videos since your first review, I've always appreciated you doing follow up videos if you have made a mistake. Literally nobody is infallible, but the fact that you do a follow up on them, and give honest reviews it shows courage, honesty, and pride in your craft. Admitting you did something wrong is always nerve wracking but it gives tons of credibility. You live and learn, you adapt. These regrets aren't something that you have swept under the rug, but you have learned from them and it only serves to show that you've improved each time.

    Two things:
    1) Good on you, Prof! You didn’t just blunder on, ignoring that you were making a mistake, but realized that your words affect the Mtg community!
    2) How have I not noticed before that the end credits “this video was brought to you by” thing is very reminiscent of the PBSKids “this program is brought to you by” after-show things I used to watch as a kid?

So many people these days (especially on the internet) are "glass half full" or "glass half empty" reviewers. They predict what will be good or bad in a thing before they even start measuring. You're one of only a handful of creators I know of who consistently, objectively measures the glass and its contents before giving us any conclusions or personal opinions. I admire you for holding yourself to such a high standard, AND for seeing the times when you missed that bar as some of your biggest regrets. But do I hold those failures against you? Absolutely not! We're all human. We all mess up. When a thing we love gets worse, we don't want to see it. Sometimes we even actively avoid addressing it, because addressing it means accepting that the problem might be real.
Catching yourself going down that path, or honestly facing it when it's pointed out to you, is a sign of strength of character. Never a sign of weakness! Your character and desire for integrity are an inspiration, to me and I think to lots of other folks here.

I really enjoyed this video, Professor. It shows a great measure of thought and reflection. You can tell you’ve been impacted and grown as a result of these experiences, instead of hiding from them or making the same ones over and over again.
Sometimes I feel you have a little more cynicism than might be healthy, but I think this video has helped me understand you a bit better. You hold yourself, as will as others, to a high standard. I sometimes find myself wondering, if you were hired at WOTC, even as a short-term consultant, what would be your one, two, and three top agenda items? I’d love to hear that. Perhaps it is scattered amidst all your videos, and I think I could take a guess at it, but I am curious to hear your thoughts with regards to the current climate in Magic the Gathering.

Prof, You mentioned in the video how you regret not making a video on the card stock issue, but eventually did it. I really hope that some of the reasons for that regret included the fact that your words have a heavy weight in the community. I have been watching and enjoying your videos for years, and have trusted what I see from you. I also believe that for at least some of your viewers, if it isn't seen on Tolarian Community College, then they simply won't receive that information. It is hard to balance a full time job, family, and normal every day life with MTG. I choose to do so anyway, but I just don't have time to search through all the different information sources to make sure I am up to date. Thanks for providing so much awesome content Prof! I really appreciate it.

I understand your feelings about Pucatrade. It went through quite a hard time and its econony suffered a lot. However, it is bouncing back. Promotion percentages are falling, and there's loads of quality cards running through it. I have stuck with PT for nearly seven years straight, starting when it first launched. It takes more work than the days before the sight redesign sure, but still plenty of trading to be done. It was launched, and still holds on, to be a giant circle-trading platform. I do my diligence to put cards in the hands of players that want them. There are players building new decks trading there, set collectors, old school players, people like me that are strictly EDHers, and those that are stocking their own store. I urge people to give it a shot, or to come back for a bit. Even if all its traffic stops, I would not have the collection I do today without using it.

I was gonna mention how great and important it is to recognize your mistakes, but you already got that as well!

Prof, the fact that you can release this video (that is almost wholly you being critical of yourself and your channel) shows why your channel is such a great resource. Frankly, your credibility is off the charts.... Thanks!

I remember the monthly magic box. Ahh that was from the beginning days of my magic career. A simpler time for a simpler me, sometimes I miss it. Though the fat stacks my edh/modern decks are worth make me feel a little better about the passage of time and my investment in this wonderful game.

My biggest regret is that I did not meet you at my local game store here in Sao Paulo last year. I hope someday I'll meet you in person and thank you for bringing me back to Magic. Greets from Brazil.

We all learn from our mistakes and problems from our past. The great thing about you and all of the UA-cam community is the can go back and WATCH their mistakes and learn from them faster. But do not trouble your self with regrets. Do as you have just showed us and prosper from the knowledge those mistakes and regrets.

Oh I didn't know that, about cards in folders😳My biggest regret is not knowing about Professor when I first started a year ago.I was cracking packs and buying color theme boosters😳,then drafting.Wasnt until my first failed Commander deck I realized my cards/skills sucked😂 Prof.taught me to buy singles!!! One year I've got about 3000 cards,9 commander decks, and some sweet collectible Magic cards, and art cards-which I love.I would have left Magic last year if not for The Professor...Legit love this guy!
