Huge fan of Azfar since Aag TV days. That was the first show I had watched as a kid where things were being openly discussed instead of being brushed under the carpet. He always had an original voice, it's great to listen to him share his experiences and insights. Also, would like to point out that we have always been appreciative of people from outside Pakistan, especially India. It's our own people who we are extremely critical of. We in Pakistan have a culture of not respecting our own heroes.
I didn't add this podcast to my watch later thinking I don't know him, and not interesting. As soon as I heard him, all the old memories came back to me when I used to hear him and Mani on radio... Man I wish I could go back in time, the free range me, the new phone packages, the new internet, the simple life... How I miss it 😞 Thank you for this, love and best wishes!
Always such a nostalgia hearing Azfar! Such good memories! Thanks for this! Also, I was thinking why Azfar Mani don't do a podcast together, i think what they did on radio 20 odd years ago was pretty much podcast format! Thanks for voicing this. I hope it materialises soon!
I don't do filmmaking anymore, cos of my diabetes. It's hard for me to work with big teams. So I have a photography studio and business now, and in my work, I try to pose my female models as confident women, and not damsels in distress. Even in my sitcom I mentioned earlier, Juggun and other female characters were all strong and empowered women. I am raised by a strong woman, and that's where I will always stand.
It's so great to hear Azfar. We worked on a project very briefly back in 2006 when I was in Karachi. I was hired by him, on Mani;s suggestion. Me and my ex-wife used to sit down in his apartment to brainstorm and write script. He's one of the most creative people I know. BTW, I'm one of those people who did end up wasting a lot of money on film-school, lol. I wish Azfar has given me this valuable advice, back then.
About Paisay, that project I started writing for Azfar, although we didn't even finish that project cos the producer didn't want to continue, but Azfar still paid me 30,000 rupees back in 2006, and that was a lot of money back then. So my experience with Azfar was great. He's a man of principles.
Azfar is a part of our teenage Just listening to him brings back the good feel days memories of that teenage Even in my 30s I start feeling like a teenager when I listen to this man We ain't youth anymore but we want him back in creative areas of the industry Chahy webseries bna k hi ao but do keep brining something to fulfill this craving 😋 Best wishes ❤️
man! what memories yaar. nostalgic. i loved that show. and their FM radio show also azfar mani. char anay ki baat hahah. kabhi kabhi aisa hota hai etc.
I would like to add my two cents to your brief conversation about the state of education in Pakistan as I taught at a government school in Karachi for an year. The quality and standard of teachers is a valid concern but a greater issue is the salaries of our teachers. If a teacher is being paid 20,000 rupees, we can't expect her to produce thinkers and innovators. If we expect high standards from our teachers, we have to compensate them fairly. Another issue is the commercialisation of Education sector. When we have commercialised a basic human right and made quality education inaccessible to a large strata of society, we can't progress and prosper. 70-80% of our students are enrolled in either government schools or substandard private schools. When 80% of these kids are not getting quality education, there's no chance of them having a future.
That argument holds merit if we assume private education schools are doing a great job - they're not either, and they are probably getting better salaries there. Even the top earning school teachers in Karachi focus on students getting As rather than truly educating them.
@@ThePakistanExperience I agree that our private schools are basically factories who produce as many As as possible. I may be wrong but I do think a big reason for that is the commercialisation of education sector.
I remember, I was in school, back in 2007-2008, and the revolutionary Aag tv started and I use to watch azfar mani show till 2-3 am, failing in my assignments in the school next day. it’s on you azfar bhai, your show ruined my career 😂

Great episode,,, please make more episodes with actors, comedians, directors and related to industry and please avoid these politicians, they are very stressful
After watching the Podcast, I started listening to the Playlist of Dreamers and realized that all over those past years It is mind-boggling how our original artistic craft went down the drain.
I produced and directedthe pilot episode of a sitcom in 2008 with Mikaal Zulfiqaar and Juggun Kazim, and it was inspired by sitcoms like How I met your mother and Friends, but had a totally different theme. I couldn't sell it to any TV channels because they thought it's too expensive for a sitcom, and that I should have cast some newbies instead of all these big stars. It could have become Gohar Rasheed's very first project, had it been aired. Some producers rejected it because they thought the humor is too witty for our audience to understand, lol.
I just watched all episodes of sub set hai 2 weeks ago.. at that time cable nh tha ghar pe. But we used to listen their radio show from 12 to 2 am on our one n only Nokia 1112. One hands free on my sister's ear and one in mine. What a beautiful time that was !!!
Just thinking how much our content would improve if ppl like Azfar are at the helm. But no, we stick to mediocrity. Oh and the mention of the 80s drama koshish brought back so many memories.
Brilliant. Azfar is responsible for some of the best and most meaningful shows of our times. Shehzad was just unnecessary. Unnecessarily trying to be funny and constantly trying to show himself infront of a giant. Felt like he was pandering for a job.

I think there are other countries in the world such as Japan or Finland who really truely understand what is meant by education. Here in the UK or USA too or some other western countries and then in Pakistan it's both on extreme. 😢. I totally agree with Azfar, been living in the UK now it's been ages I have stopped watching Pakistani dramas or shows. It's full of currpt filthy useless content.
