I am proud of my city!! This is just the beginning. Just wait till the new footbridge, culture house, eye hospital, sheepfolds development, film studios and business district offices….alongside luxury and affordable green housing. This is a city that will be firmly put back on the map

Great advert but here are a few questions….The loss of the National Glass Centre in 2026 will be a tragedy for Wearside yet Sunderland University will still not answer important questions about why they let it fall into disrepair in the first place. Who is building the new luxury homes, how many and where? Is the NGC land scheduled for a housing development? Somebody has to start telling the truth around here. Great video by the way.

@@technologytom Agreed, the NGC is a great addition and historic reflection on the city’s glass heritage. The university seem more focussed on their southern endeavours than looking for solutions to a problem that [in my] opinion could be found. While the building may need repairs, the costings are dubious and seem to be more in line with ‘writing off’ than repairing.
Time will tell, but the Culture House is merely a token gesture that will never be suffice or even come to fruition.

The whole city of Sunderland has problems, the main one at the moment is you can't go any where in the city without road works the utilities have made this city into a patchwork quilt no sooner has a road or footpath been repaired and another comes along digs a good part of it up again. Over a period of time the poor repairs start to show. Then we get to uneven footpaths Fawcett Street is a good example sandstone slabs should not be the first choose for a busy street especially when delivery van's and maintenance vehicles put wheel on the paving. This problem of uneven flags and broken one's is been city wide for years.

Think we need to consider painting the railway bridge maybe red so it's not subsumed by the shadow of Wearmouth bridge. We will have 3 bridges soon and the whole country will recognise our city by this vista. Let's make it as stunning as it can be!
