I always make sure I use a different brush for cleaning out ports. I found out a long time ago that even with loads of IPA that flux loves to clog up toothbrushes. I thought I was cleaning the ports out, only to realise I was just coating them with the gunk from my cleaning brush. But nice easy fix on this one. And I agree, leaded solder is getting harder to find, places like RS refuse to sell it to individuals now, which is a shame because their leaded solder was always good quality.

Phil, The primary ingredient in most contact cleaners is isopropyl alcohol.
25:15 Beware of that soldering pump because it has no recoil protection. It is very easy to break something or even knock out a tooth.
Hi TheCod3r,loving your videos so keep up the amazing work you do and was wondering how much would you charge to fix a ps5 disc edition console with error code SU-101265-5?
My ps5 works with a headset doesn’t display on T.V. Tried different leads to no avail. Checked the HDMI port the pins connected to the board look good . I’m going to attempt this repair but I fear it may be an issue with something else.
Can you fix a custom made mappabale controller that has stick drift??
My launch PS5 has been vertical since I've owned it, never once overheated or ramped up fan speed. Guess I'm just lucky.

Had someone message me today wanting their ps5 cleaned out so that the the local repaur shop will replace their hdmi port, they refused because it had signs of bugs because she bought it off of facebook marketplace. Im not gonna complain i did all that can be done to it other than hdmi port replacement

Have you ever tried to repapir a PS5 with the CE-108255-1 error code? Plays PS4 games fine but PS5 games freeze at different points with that error code.
Yeah unfortunately it's usually unfixable. Sometimes replacing the ram or ssd controller works but most of the time it doesn't
@TheCod3r Strange how it only happens with PS5 games and varies when they freeze, would of thought it would happen with all games. I will have a look at replacing those see if that helps.
It definitely looked like a pin broke when testing that the pins were secured.

What happened to your workshop didn't you do a workshop fund a few months ago when ya moved tk new house 🤔
I did but it never really went anywhere so I ended up buying a 28ft caravan as a temporary workshop, but that's on unstable ground and it's basically sinking, so I need something more permanent

Unfortunately there is no definitive solution there. Sometimes the SSD controller has failed, sometimes it's the APU which is unfixable
@TheCod3r If my PS5 is also having this issue could I send it in for a quote?
@@anultragreatsword926 You're more than welcome to send it in to me and I can attempt a repair for you. Generally if the issue is related to the SSD controller or another issue I can fix it would be between £100 to £140 but if I can't fix it I don't charge any diagnostic fees.
What you charge for hdmi port on ps5 comes out around $75 us, this repair shop is going to charge this woman twice that to repair the hdmi port
Iv had my ps5 vertical for 2 and a half years and played it for hours never had a problem with mine

There's a reason why Sony stopped including a vertical stand with the PS5 "Slim" and made horizontal the default orientation. ;)

Btw just after saying "don't put too much pressure" testing the pins i think you broke one. It clearly moved up.
Amateurs with a 40 watt soldering iron. Why people dont understand that some kind of electronics if not all must be done by a profesional. I have 30 + years of being a electronic tech. And i haven't learned everything yet.
