i've watched this like 5 times. totally epic. Only input i could give is that if you held the scene at 0:07 for a few seconds longer. It would have had a much bigger impact.
Great video I was thinking to buy the canon 1dxs mak II. But the other day I realise that there is a crop factor in 4k video mode. Do you find any type of difficulties with this?? Is it a big difference in the lenses comparing with non crop factor?
super clean ... side note. I'm looking into a gimbal for my c100 mark 2 but there's nothing that produces shots as smooth and natural as a glidecam lol
Hey Robert! Did you notice noise in the shadows even at iso 100 when using the 1DX II? I keep getting enough that I need to use neat video on everything.. It is much worse in 1080p 24p/120p than in 4k. It even happens on my cam when I over expose a bit. Using the faithful or neutral profile with contrast and saturation turned down with sharpness down almost all the way.
I haven't noticed anything too terrible. I can't remember what ISO I shot this video at, but certainly nothing that required Neat Video. I personally never used the camera in 1080p since it looks like any other subpar DSLR footage.
Ya.. I think I need to send mine in for service. It didn't do it this bad when I first had the camera. I ran it really hot one day, I think it might have cooked the sensor or something lol
Hey! your work is absolutely amazing! I'm looking to purchase the 1dx mark 2, wanted to know how was the sigma's auto focus shooting video? is it accurate or you just use manual focus ?
Hey Robert! Would like to ask now since you own a Sony A7SIII now, how does it compare to using the 1Dx mk ii in terms of doing something similar to this? I've been following your channel for quite some time now and I always revisit this video in particular. Let me know your thoughts and keep it up man! 💯
1. This was shot in 'Neutral' with sharpening turned all the way down. 2. I have a beefy editing rig. Handled it no prob. I actually did a live stream of the edit: bit.ly/2sLzaRN
Beautiful video! Would you mind if I re-edit for an independent book commercial? Honestly, I've watched half a dozen times and I love everything you did with this.
We have beginner channel. I just really liked your video. I thought I could use. Of course, I should have asked. Excuse me. If you had written, I would have deleted it myself, withoute leading to sanctions.
5d does the exact same thing. What confuses people is they think it is the camera. Really it is not. If you can operate the thing and pick the shots that is what is making it beautiful. This is why another person using the same camera is getting terrible quality making people think it is the camera.
1DXII-vlogger TIP REQUEST! Hi, Robert - this is fantastic! I’m a STUTTERER w/a business helping other stutterers & a UA-cam channel to challenge myself and help others (check it out - it's FUN! 🙂). I’m also a photographer choosing between the 1DXII & GH5 for video/photo. As a 1DXII vlogger yourself, I’d love to ask you a couple questions - namely: I just got my 1DXII yesterday, and am wondering how do you vlog with USM lenses like the 24-70 f2.8l II? The thing's autofocus is soooo noisy!! Thanks in advance for responding (😉), and keep being awesome!
Robert Machado-You need to read "The Thank You Economy" by Gary Vaynerchuck. Responding to people like that, no matter how silly the question or comment, will cost you a lot in the long run.
Agreed - I'm sitting here reading Robert's response to this nice guy who was just looking for help - I'm in awe, becuase that response was totally rude and unwarranted. Tells you a a lot about a person.
Seth Alexander Hey guys - I appreciate the support, but honestly, it's all good. Trust me, I've stuttered all my life and I've just started to really get control of my speech in the last three years - I've heard much worse before. Now I'm leading an organization of "stutterers helping stutterers" that spans the USA and Canada, helping other people who stutter to gain the ability to speak eloquently and to overcome their fear of speaking. It's the third business I've started, and it's by far the most meaningful thing I've ever done. And it's awesome. Robert has a lot of skill, and I'm sure we can all learn things from him. I'm trying to create a channel that uses my story and passion for helping others to inspire people to do whatever they've always wanted to do. I'm a decent photographer, and I'm excited to learn a lot about cinematography from YT channels like this one. I'd appreciate it if you'd jump over to my channel real quick, and send me any thoughts or suggestions you might have for how I can make my content better and engage more people. I'll be posting more frequently soon - been challenging lately as I'm in the process of divesting one of my businesses. Thanks again, and let me know if you see an opportunity to collaborate! 👍🏻
1:08 This is why complementary colors are important , this SHOT is AMAZING !! good work
its crazy. like a 14 bit RAW photo!
One of the better 1DXMK2 videos on youtube by far. User experience shows.
The song you chose times so perfectly with the movement in your video :)

Really love the colors. I'd buy a LUT from you.
Qual é essa lente que você esta usando nesse video todo? Perfeito, qualidade de cinema !
Very cool! Please tell me with what frequency the music video?
Best canon 1dx mark 2 video in UA-cam! Fantastic and inspiring!
you KILLLED this
i've watched this like 5 times. totally epic. Only input i could give is that if you held the scene at 0:07 for a few seconds longer. It would have had a much bigger impact.
i learn it, thanks brother
Lovely Edit man
Great video
I was thinking to buy the canon 1dxs mak II. But the other day I realise that there is a crop factor in 4k video mode. Do you find any type of difficulties with this?? Is it a big difference in the lenses comparing with non crop factor?
It is the same crop factor as Super 35. No issues at all.
Gorgeous work man! Did you use a Glidecam?
Sure did! DGS Glidecam!
can i use this video?
Love everything about this.
Those colours are fantastic, trying to get a similar look on my fs7. Those canon colours though!
super clean ... side note. I'm looking into a gimbal for my c100 mark 2 but there's nothing that produces shots as smooth and natural as a glidecam lol
Amazing!
great looking video!!
Robert - is it tough to hold highlights/not blowing out sky while retaining good skin? beautiful video
simon gentry It's a little harder than I'm used to, especially since there is no LOG setting on the camera. I do love Canon's color science though!
Gorgeous color
This is just Perfect!!!
How does you DGS Glidecam hold up the 1DX? Do you have any issues with the adjustable gimbal sliding up due to the weight?
It was a treat. The DGS handled the 1DX just fine and can handle even more weight without a sweat.
Love this. What picture style did you use?
he used neutral
This is awesome 👏🏻
Nice work. Nice & steady shots. What did you stabilize the giant 1DXii with? Thanks!
he used a glidecam
Nice job bro! The AF tracker works on Sigma 50 1.4 Art?
Steve C yes, works on both the 50 and 85 art. I have both.
Great work, what kind of colour grading did you do on this?
Just did a quick pass in Lumetri within Premiere!
You used a non-native lens and the autofocusing still worked? Amazing. Any chance the DPAF will do the same on the 5DMKIV?
The Sigma 50 has a Canon EF mount- a native lens. I would assume the dual pixel AF would be just as good!
@1:08 A beautiful shot.
What picture profile are you using, bro.. thanks in advance
This was shot using Netural with sharpening turned all the way down.
Nice work! What profile do you shoot with?
This was shot on Neutral with sharpening turned off.
How did you color grade it? It looks sooo good :D
Hey Robert! Did you notice noise in the shadows even at iso 100 when using the 1DX II? I keep getting enough that I need to use neat video on everything.. Hey! your work is absolutely amazing! I'm looking to purchase the 1dx mark 2, wanted to know how was the sigma's auto focus shooting video? is it accurate or you just use manual focus ?
Thanks! This video was done entirely with autofocus.
Robert Machado cool! Why use the Sigma 50 over the canon 50 1.2 L? Is the Sigma sharper ?
I have just preferred Sigmas since the Art series came out. I have a few other lenses in that line so it's nice having them match.
Hey Robert! Would like to ask now since you own a Sony A7SIII now, how does it compare to using the 1Dx mk ii in terms of doing something similar to this? I've been following your channel for quite some time now and I always revisit this video in particular. Let me know your thoughts and keep it up man! 💯
Great video! A couple questions:
1) what picture profile did you shoot on?
2) how did you handle editing with those huge mjpeg files?
1. This was shot in 'Neutral' with sharpening turned all the way down.
2. I have a beefy editing rig. Handled it no prob. I actually did a live stream of the edit: bit.ly/2sLzaRN
you can use proxy files, premier pro even has a live link proxy editing feature now (meaning you could edit 16k video on a slow laptop no problem)
you've convinced me for sure! AWESOME GRADE too, what ddi you use to get it? cheers ;)
Thanks! I used Lumetri within Premiere Pro to grade this.
hey good day, can i use this for my aesthetic video? ill give credits in the description.
Can I use this for my lyrical poem dear with ur due permission
What's the bit rate of the recording?
Good video 👏👍👍😎
Beautiful video! Would you mind if I re-edit for an independent book commercial?
Honestly, I've watched half a dozen times and I love everything you did with this.

Calvin Kemppel With love and care.
