(A New Hope concludes with the command of the Death Star waiting and waiting to go around Yavin to shoot the Rebel base on its moon, rather than just shoot Yavin. However, beyond asserting they feel the Death Star is invincible enough to afford this, the movie went to some effort to set up the idea the Empire likes to do things cleanly and precisely. Without foreknowledge of how the battle would play out, waiting for a perfect shot may have been an objectively correct career decision.) A lot of successful "magical girl" series go further and manage to convincingly pull off dream logic narrative, because it still feels natural. This, though, just isn't working. I can definitely point to some systemic problems (such as treating Force-users as superheroes) with the Disney approach, but ultimately we have a story that could exist in the setting but not with these characters and told in this way.
the sad truth is that from The Hobbit to the Expanse top tier female characters have always been beloved, but these people are so blind to integrity and moral courage they can't even see it in the culture's they hijack.

You know what we missed? We missed having the original cast on the Falcon one last time. We missed the *RESPECT* they deserve. *NOTHING* will ever change that. We could have had simple, happy shows with ups and downs. Characters would progress, and they would influence the outcome of the plot in meaningful ways that address serious themes with grace. The shows would have been based on beloved stories that were cherry picked for success. That is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Put very simply, we could have watched our beloved cast interact. We were deprived of *DECADES* worth of closure that cannot be fabricated. Instead of respecting the wonderful characters we loved, they were butchered. Imagine Carrie Fisher, and the character she made, being respected. So many crime movies i love like se7en and silence of the lambs are writen so well. You can watch them and just tell that the writers took a step back and looked at their project from every possible angle to make sure everything made sense and nothing was broken. Just because this is star wars doesn't mean we won't want any care taken in the story with holes so huge it pulls a xenomorph queen into space.
I got into a argument with about half a dozen people on x about the prison ship crashing from space and Osha barely surviving. My point was that there was no explanation beyond a seatbelt for how she survived, with no one even piloting the ship, and it broke my immersion because it's so unbelievable. The only argument they had was whataboutism's, pointing to any other crash in star wars continuity where the characters survived, most commonly referenced was the Coruscant crash in episode 3. I countered with, while it requires suspension of disbelief, the story and characters take the time to try and fix the problem ahead of them, they open the wind flaps to reduce speed, and Anakin pilots the ship, aiming it towards a clear runway. I think context is important, and while both scenes are crash landings, the latter is explained better than the former, and didn't break my immersion. These people I was debating didn't care about the context, only that the characters survived in both circumstances, and even after I explained the differences, they argued that they were the same and I must have "other" reasons I didn't like it, or that I was looking for any reason to dislike it. Not one even tried defending the scene in question from the acolyte, the go to was to attack the i.p as a whole and claim the stuff from the past was always bad. These fans only care about the outcome, so any amount of bad writing is justified if the outcome is woke enough. I genuinely think these people were arguing in bad faith, and behind the snide comments I could see they thought I only disliked it because I must be a bigot. These "fans" are committed to misinterpreting any criticism and accusing critics of all the ism's. The worst part is I can't fully blame them because Lucasfilm issues a press release before every show pre-emptively accusing critics and fans of being bigots. The only path I see now is just not to engage and not to watch anything Lucasfilm puts out until the company has a major culture shift, because just firing K.K. isn't enough anymore.

I still haven’t watched Solo, I stopped watching Mando first episode of season 3, didn’t finish book of Fett (my favorite OT character), didn’t watch Ashoka, didn’t watch Kenobi, and I’m not going to watch acolyte. Pre last Jedi I caught every game, movie, show, and have a bunch of pre Disney collectibles. My wallet has shut for Disney “Star Wars” there has been 4 moments in the entire 12 years of the Disney ownership.

We missed having the original cast on the Falcon one last time. We missed the *RESPECT* they deserve.
*NOTHING* will ever change that.
We could have had simple, happy shows with ups and downs. Characters would progress, and they would influence the outcome of the plot in meaningful ways that address serious themes with grace. The shows would have been based on beloved stories that were cherry picked for success. That is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.
Put very simply, we could have watched our beloved cast interact. We were deprived of *DECADES* worth of closure that cannot be fabricated. Instead of respecting the wonderful characters we loved, they were butchered. Imagine Carrie Fisher, and the character she made, being respected. Just one simple nod to the fans, and a footnote in history for a beloved actress.
No excuse. I am not paying one penny to watch any more of the modern woke StarWars garbage. Real female actresses are not being shown respect while the industry whines. I am sick of this woke garbage!!!

She didn't see Empire in the drive-in with a gaggle of friends, oohing and aahing at the visuals, the story, the Vader-father reveal. She probably never read any of the books, much less the OG books like Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster. This woman is a jane-come-lately who wants to tell us real fans that we don't know shit about something that pre-dates her to fans who pre-date her.
What I appreciate is that you watched The Acolyte so I don't have to! After the sequel trilogy, I've just moved on from Star Wars after being a Star Wars fan since 1977.

*REAL* Star Wars fans walked away a long time ago. About 9 years ago when that Force Awakens shit was released. First thing they did was kill off Han Solo. And they made sure we never got to see Han, Luke & Leia together again because they knew that was the one thing we were all waiting 30 years for. "Subverting expectations". Well I subverted my money away from Disney.
My bro-in-law tried to watch it, with an open mind, and ended up turning it off during the initial fight scene. I guess there's still some hope for him.
Star Wars and all other entertainment is basically a dancing monkey. We don’t have to like everything Disney throws out, we don’t have to like any of it, our job is not to kiss the arse of every insecure muppet who makes a fool of themselves, no our job is to and follow me on this…..is whatever job we have in the real world. The best part about ignoring Disney Star Wars is that it in no way impacts my continued love for the OT and even the PT. I've got a lifetime's worth of legit Star Wars merch and physical media which will outlast all of Disney's knock offs long after they've been deleted from D+ for a tax write off.

So many crime movies i love like se7en and silence of the lambs are writen so well. You can watch them and just tell that the writers took a step back and looked at their project from every possible angle to make sure everything made sense and nothing was broken. Just because this is star wars doesn't mean we won't want any care taken in the story with holes so huge it pulls a xenomorph queen into space.

My god. If this article isn’t a perfect example of accusing your opponents of doing what you are actually doing yourself, then I don’t know what is…..
And either they are too dense to notice or they just don't care and want everyone thinking like they do.
I got into a argument with about half a dozen people on x about the prison ship crashing from space and Osha barely surviving. My point was that there was no explanation beyond a seatbelt for how she survived, with no one even piloting the ship, and it broke my immersion because it's so unbelievable. The only argument they had was whataboutism's, pointing to any other crash in star wars continuity where the characters survived, most commonly referenced was the Coruscant crash in episode 3. I countered with, while it requires suspension of disbelief, the story and characters take the time to try and fix the problem ahead of them, they open the wind flaps to reduce speed, and Anakin pilots the ship, aiming it towards a clear runway. I think context is important, and while both scenes are crash landings, the latter is explained better than the former, and didn't break my immersion. These people I was debating didn't care about the context, only that the characters survived in both circumstances, and even after I explained the differences, they argued that they were the same and I must have "other" reasons I didn't like it, or that I was looking for any reason to dislike it. Not one even tried defending the scene in question from the acolyte, the go to was to attack the i.p as a whole and claim the stuff from the past was always bad. These fans only care about the outcome, so any amount of bad writing is justified if the outcome is woke enough. I genuinely think these people were arguing in bad faith, and behind the snide comments I could see they thought I only disliked it because I must be a bigot. These "fans" are committed to misinterpreting any criticism and accusing critics of all the ism's. The worst part is I can't fully blame them because Lucasfilm issues a press release before every show pre-emptively accusing critics and fans of being bigots. The only path I see now is just not to engage and not to watch anything Lucasfilm puts out until the company has a major culture shift, because just firing K.K. isn't enough anymore.
