    As an owner of a wood E2 (and J2) I'm glad to hear the Archel sounds almost exactly the same. Because damn does the E2 sound good. And the wood cases are also amazing.

    B-roll in this was incredible!! 👀 Great video as always Lachlan! Just wish Geshelli developed some technology to allow impedance matching/compensation for sensitive equipment.

      Glad you liked the video!
      It's hard to balance high impedance cans and low impedance IEMs from the same device. I spoke to Geno about this via email (IIRC) and he said that they are aiming to balance the devices for those with 300 ohm cans like say HD6XX, ZMFs, etc. My understanding is that adding negative gain modes can introduce extra distortion and it would probably introduce extra cost too so they're in a tough spot.

    Congratulations to Geshelli labs for making a domestic produced reasonably priced excellent product. I do have to say that the wood cases are DIY looking. I guess I'd be an aluminum case buyer.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  2 роки тому +2

      I think the wooden cases look amazing - perhaps it's the in-person vs on film thing. Also, different timber choices might make a difference. That said, the aluminium looks brilliant and is likely harder wearing so it's great to have the choice. Either way, it's a great sounding amp

      But lack features, power, measurement and the same sound quality for lower price or slightly higher in the competition.

      That's just not true, Nick. Anyone telling you these all sound the same either hasn't listened to them or is tricking themselves with confirmation bias by expecting no difference.

    Hi! Love your reviews always very complete and in a very asmr tone too 😅❤.
    Do you think archel 2.5 ou 3 pro would be able to drove fosi audio za3 amps in dual mono mode ?
    I bought a turntable and im building a setup and having trouble to choose a preamp to connect futur streamer with j2s dac and the turntable with the phono preamp on the other side. Im drowmning.
    Woumd love to combine wiim pro plus> j2s> archel's> fosi za3 for digital, and dual 1219>mani or ifi phono2>archel's but find it hard to now if i have to go through balanced or if singled ended with 2590 opamp would already rock or not... its just so hard to pick sides and products.
    Help 😂

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  7 місяців тому +1

      The A3 Pro is a lovely preamp for the price. I don't know the Fosi so can't say if it would benefit from XLR input over RCA. If the ZA3 is good, the A3 Pro will deliver noticeable benefits over the 2.5.

    Greate review ! Can you please give some advice/opinion on speakers for a room , does the placement of a speaker in a room make you more tired ? I mean if a speaker is on yhe ground or at head hight makes you more tired because of where the speaker is located ? Thx

    • @Kbaum752
      @Kbaum752 2 роки тому +1

      The room is half the battle. The Polk r200 and r100 are getting a lot of good press. I prefer speakers to headphones, but that could change with a better headphone amp. Dove tailing is not easy not sure why there are so many negative comments.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  2 роки тому

      Speaker placement is definitely important and so is the room shape, size and materials in the room. I'm not currently using traditional speakers though so I'm out of touch with the best advice.

    Thanks for your review and your impressions.
    One question: have you combined the e2/j2 with the dca stealth and do you think they could run them properly?

    • @kyron42
      @kyron42 2 роки тому

      If you wanted to you could do your own research. Find out the impedance of the headphones. Find out how much power amplifier produces at that impedance. Find out the sensitivity of the headphones. Convert the power gain to dB. Add it onto the headphones sensitivity. Consider if this is loud enough for the music you like at the volume you like listening at.

    • @HeliosFaust
      @HeliosFaust 2 роки тому +1

      @@kyron42 did all that, and the answer on paper should be yes. But lots of people in there reviews say that the stealth sounds restricted in some areas if it’s not feed with enough power. But no one gives a suggestion how much is „enough“…

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Helios, the Stealth is a flagship grade headphone so I'd generally recommend driving it with better gear. I love the Geshelli products, but they're entry-mid level at best. Spending $4000 or whatever the Stealths cost and then driving them with a $500 source chain will rob them of their potential. IMO you'd be better off with a pair of Aeon Noire to drive with that stack.
      As for power requirements, there's an ongoing misconception that having way more power leads to better sound, but the reality is that people are comparing different amps with different sonic character and then putting the results down to the single variable of power which is a fallacy. If you have an amp with sufficient power plus ample extra then you have enough (e.g. at least double the power needed for your listening level which should be 80-90dB max for safe listening). Any sonic benefits from one amp to the next if they both meet that criteria have nothing to do with extra power and are just about better synergies between the amp and the headphone.

    • @PassionforSound

      Not sure how many times we need to cover this same ground. Measurements don't tell the whole story. There are things like various types of distortion (some of which rarely get measured), speed of transients and decay, and probably a bunch of other stuff too that we don't understand still about audio perception.

    Explain how does six times gain makes it twice as loud. 6 x gain is 15.5 dB. Twice the loudness is considered to be somewhere between 6 and 10 dB.
