- In this video 'Spectrum Analyzer vs Oscilloscope FFT: Uni-T UTS3021B vs PicoScope 5444D MSO', I'll show more on how the spectrum analyzer works using the Uni-T UTS3021B Spectrum Analyzer. I will use the PicoScope 5444D MSO FFT vs Oscilloscope function. #spectrumanalyzer #UniTspectrumanalyzer #UniTUTS3021B #PicoScope5444D #UTS3021B

Eddie I just want to say from me and everybody that watch here your content is great please keep it coming
Much appreciated! Thank you!
Happy upcoming birthday~!🎂
Thank you!!
Thanks, Eddie. Happy Birthday!!
Thank you! I appreciate you!
HI Eddie, lots of great info. Thanks for the excellent Video. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎈 TO YOU…
Thank you! I appreciat you!
Happy Birthday and Happy Easter, Eddie!
Thanks so much!
Great video, I've been using the PicoScope and the Cleverscope for a long time now, super useful in electronic field servicing, repairs and maintenance. Especially when you want to connect to someone for expert advice remote diagnosis, etc. The new PicoScope software is a big improvement. Of course people tend to think that USB scopes are cheap, which we know isn't the case for the PicoScope or Cleverscope.
Great feedback! PicoScope has changed my mind on usb scopes!
@@KissAnalog All I can relay is my own experience. For those interested I've a Cleverscope MSO 328A, which is just terrific 14-bit and I find it's excellent for detecting fast transients.
I also have a PicoScope 3204D which has similar capabilities but is 8-bit, but I find it's built a bit more robust so I can risk leaving it in situ in industrial conditions to collect data remotely.
I happily recommend either brand.
Great video and it goes smooth almost all the way. :-)
Thanks so much!!
Happy Easter to everyone! Peace be with you and your families:)
Thank you!
Happy B day. Mine is later this week. I have no idea why most stop at 9khz. Seems like it would be easy to add lower frequencies. You can get a Dynamic signal analyzer that will analyze low frequencies. Just from my personal experience the FFT on a Picoscope 4262 does an excellent job for those interested in the Audio range.
Thanks - and I totally agree with you. I am becoming a big fan of the Picoscopes! Happy Birthday!!
Merci Eddie.
Thank you!
Oh this was nice, I need to get back into doing some audio stuff. Some small projects.. I'll call you soon and have a quick chatt.
Sounds great Jason!
The PicoScope can swap instruments. In the video it shows the scope view with a spectrum of the scope view. If you click on instruments you can enter spectrum mode where you have more spectrum options including centre / span etc.
Thanks for bringing this up! I need to do more videos demonstrating the Picoscope. Here's one where I compare it to the GW Instek: ua-cam.com/video/IVWcX3l_Ir0/v-deo.html
I use DEWEsoft Sirius data acquisition boxes at work, lately looking quite a bit on microphones and accelerometers and FFT is an excellent tool to sort the data. Wish i could have one of them boxes at home but the cost is waaaay up there (12k USD a piece i think) 😅
Excellent look into more affordable tools for the home, thanks Eddie!
Happy birthday in advance!
Thanks so much! Nice equipment is expensive when you are looking at fast and low level signals... This SA is pretty nice and relatively low cost - but still too expensive for me;)
Hoi Eddy could you do a measurement in intermodulation in a amp LF or HF and do a measurement to determine the noise floor of the analyzer is very educational measurements
Yes that sounds great! Thanks!
Me again… for me the most important thing to teach newbies about spectrum analyzers is that it low impedance over the whole band… can remember as senior engineer having a very expensive spectrum analyzer in my charge, breaking out in a sweat whenever a junior engineer in another department just wanting to borrow it for a quick test… from experience, they dont recognize that it is a wide-band device, so they just have a problem between say 1and 2 GHz, and they turn down the attenuation trying to look at the small signal they want to see over there, forgetting about a 10W signal beyond their area of interest!!!! 😢😢😢 call me nasty, but at some stage, when non-RF engineers wanted to borrow my spectrum analyzer, I first gave them a test to see if they could actually use it, and then spending hours lecturing them on using it. Esp. on some HP spectrum analyzers that could go down to DC, and is is a PSU-engineer having problems with EMI.
This is great feedback! I know what you mean - it is tuff to let go - especially when you have experienced the failures of others... But, then you can only try to help them the next time - and everyone will grow and learn...in the perfect world. LOL
So can you check the poll locations for a 4th order abutterworth lpf?
I think you can, or have a good idea.
Happy Birthday Eddie. Have a beer on me
Thanks so much!! You are very generous and I will have that beer;)
Hi Eddie,
Can you please expand on your contract role with the DoD.
In particular, have you worked on any classified defence projects?
Sure I can do that and yes I have, but I have to be careful what I say about those.
@@KissAnalog Excellent Eddie, I believe the technology available to the US DoD is unchallengeable by any foreign competitor, cheers.
I'll have an sa on my rigol ehh Eddie. The bandwidth isn't high though
Yes Joey, It is an FFT which is a little different (math vs frequency scanner;)
@Kiss Analog yes Eddie thank you. I'm aware of the domains in which the aforementioned tests are conducted haha
well if you can afford to sell your car and one of your kidneys... then the signal hound brand spectrum analyzers (which were featured recently on tsp channel) are a great bang for buck! - really fantastic device. however it is indeed same sort of price as removing those trees you got there. sorry to say, and indeed the global warming more extreme weather events. difficult to protect against if you live in a danger zone (or any zone). happy birthday in advance, and may you find cheaper tree surgeons in your area
Thanks for your feedback! Yes the last defense company that I worked for had a $200+ Oscilloscope in one lab. The EMI chamber was over $1million... Expensive stuff when you go fast and low level.
Happy 🐣 Kiss Anulog

Thank you - but I don't see a comment - was it removed?
IN MY OPINION A SPECTRUM ANALYZER WILL DO A BETTER AND, MORE COMPLETE EXAMINATION OF FREQUENCY BANDWITH.
That's true David. Thanks for your feedback!
