I was born and raised in Columbus. I was friends with both Caleb (the man who jumped from the tower) and Jackie (the young woman who drowned in the river). They were both great, beautiful people who died far too young. May they Rest In Peace. Unfortunately suicide is all around us and rivers are very dangerous. I would not call Mill Race cursed. It’s actually a very pretty park. Cheers.
In May of 2018 I was feeling really down and depressed. Both my parents had recently died and I was having marital difficulties. So I climbed to the top of the tower and looked over the edge for several minutes and actually seriously considered jumping off of it. Thankfully my better sense god hold of me and I went back down the stairs. Shortly thereafter things got much better for me so very happy that I did not go through with that desperate act. Never give up.
Mill Race has a ghostly past as I stated in the video of the railroad bridge. Mill Race has a dark past. I never go there at night. Lots of strange happenings there.
Just went to Mill Race park for the first time yesterday. Climbed the tower and enjoyed being there I’m going back soon. I do admit there is something weird about it idk what it is. Not to mention the Mill Race Monster sightings I wish I could learn more about this but it’s hard to find info online.
I believe the old bridge was destroyed by arson in 1985. It was one of the last original covered bridges in Bartholomew County and at one time crossed Clifty Creek on the south esat side of the city. It was moved to the park in the late 1960's
I went on a field trip and we went up to the top of this tower and every couple floors there was either messages from people who Jumped or there were suicide prevention numbers.
Man, your videos bring back many good and bad memories. Even in this video of the Mill. We have had loads of drownings at White River, Otter Creek, and the waters in Mill Race Park. I even heard stories of the infamous Donner Park is haunted.
I go to mill race all the time with my friends and it's not scary at all. This video makes mill race and columbus sound like a bad place but it's beautiful
The man that jumped was actually a paranoid schizophrenic, and his death was ruled as accidental, not suicide, due to the fact he could’ve simply just believe he could fly (I’m not making a sick joke, this is real). I’m not just making this up either, I’m in a criminal justice class and my teacher is an ex cop who was either one of the first or the first officer to appear at the scene. He said then when he got there he ended up talking to a filmmaker there that was actually recording footage of the amphitheater, but in the footage, you can see a man ride up to the tower on his bicycle, when the camera pans back to the tower, you can see him over halfway up, and when it pans back for the third time, the towers empty. Pretty spooky stuff if you ask me.
Not to be disrespectful but do you know anything about the North high school student that jumped in like 2015/2016ish? I heard he jumped because of the same thing, but he did not die. It was my friends little brother, and he became paralyzed from the waist down. Anyways, if you happen to know anything on that incident please let me know. I’ve always been curious.
As well Matt, the old Crump Theatre in downtown Columbus is haunted for sure. I remember going there as a kid. I experienced a lot of strange things. I refused to stop going there. I started going to Commons movie theatre all the time then.
Hey Matt - like Keith I've just researched the Mill Pool monster. There's even a youtube video of a TV documentary that rein-acted the story. Great stuff. Si.
Andry Rakotomalala thanks! You should read the eyewitness statements. it's just nuts. lol. But it because the two groups of eyewitnesses didn't know each other or about the others encounter, people believed it and the town freaked out for a while. crazy stuff!
Andry Rakotomalala mostly because I'm like you and love to travel, but for years, I couldn't afford to go far, so I would look for interesting places around indiana. now I travel all over central indiana for work, and I look for what places are near me and vlog there for my lunch break. it's a format that works for me! lol
+Andry Rakotomalala yes actually. Because I live in Indy, I subconsciously avoid blogging here. I guess because I'm not really going anywhere. I don't know. Lol. But I'm now making a conscious effort to do some vlogs in Indy. I want to show off downtown, and I might even try to find a safe place to fly the drone down there. I also want to show off the poor neighborhood i grew up in. Along with some destination vlogs, like the zoo and children's museum.
I use to go fishing there all the time an only one night I seen a creature of some kind. Just a quick glimpse of it an it was gone. I couldn't find it's tracks either. Just regular human shoe prints. I still fish there every now an then. It is a beautiful place an can be a little weird an strange at night lol
An interesting video Matt. That water looks a bit green to me. Does that river suffer any bad pollution? Amazing that it could hold any life at all except maybe a swamp monster!
I go there a lot as I live in Edinburgh, which is about 10 minutes away I’d say.. you might’ve heard that we also have had some deaths because of our dam.. but I’m not gonna lie I haven’t heard anyone call this play Death Valley
Matt's Big Dream will do! I remember the first time I went there with my grandma though and she was telling me how she thought it was haunted I just never believed it
It’s not scary I have been there before and in Columbus since June 2019 I’m in 4th grade and have been there since 3rd grade so yeah but also at 1:33 pls don’t drop that million dollar camera pls
I agree this place is cursed to many drug houses here to and drug attic's Columbus Indiana needs to improve and to much death but still going to live here and hive it a chance wish me luck this place is like silent hill
Lots of heroin addicts and meth heads in Columbus. That is the biggest killer in that area. Not much middle class there. Either wealthy and well off, or dirt poor and drunk or dope head.
@@mattsbigdream Nope. To this day there are lots of people who go to the tower to attempt suicide. They are usually picked up by the police, though. And a couple of years ago, a woman attempted to jump from the suspension bridge. It's a nice park and I like to go there, but it does happen to be the place in town that attracts the most suicidal people.
The old bridge from the 80’s burned down. The current bridge was brought in later and then rebuilt. In the 70’s, 2 boys were riding bicycles through deep puddles after several days of rain, when lightning strike one of the boys. He was taken to Columbus hospital, where he was declared dead ... by his dad, the ER Dr, who didn’t recognize him due to the severity of the burns. I am so happy they saved the old Mill Race wooden bridge.

I’ve lived in Columbus my whole life (19 years) and the deaths at millrace are crazy
Yep and I live so close to it like 4 minutes away
In May of 2018 I was feeling really down and depressed. Both my parents had recently died and I was having marital difficulties. One of the County Commissioners son did jump off the tower and died. He had chronic mental health issues. It’s never discussed in polite company.
It's next to a river without flood walls or levees. Of course it's going to flood periodically!

🎉
You gotta be careful flying that drone. You're gonna catch people hooking up in those woods around the train track bridge.
Now that covered bridge! that is super awesome. That is something really American to me. I would love to see a VLOG on that
+vinygee well you are in luck because I'm planning something big for the covered bridges this summer. Thanks so much, my friend!
vinygee I just uploaded today's vlog, inspired by viny! I was near a really cool covered bridge so I did a whole vlog about it.
I go to mill race all the time with my friends and it's not scary at all. This video makes mill race and columbus sound like a bad place but it's beautiful
Kenzie White the only thing scary in Columbus is Irwin gardens >.>

My cousin n uncle encountered it between hoot owl holler n mill race..then my cousin had another encounter with it again....he'll never go back
A friend of mine committed suicide there several years back. R.i.p. you will always be missed and never forgotten!

Thanks for sharing Matt, hope you guys have a great Easter...
Allen Oxendine thanks allen! You do the same!
If it's cursed it's cuz the native Americans were there and had their land stolen. I'm a life long resident btw
is that bridge the one that played in a lot of movies?
My dad was born in 1940 and moved to Death Valley as a young boy. Very rough upbringing. His siblings still live in the Columbus area today.
As well Matt, the old Crump Theatre in downtown Columbus is haunted for sure. I remember going there as a kid. I experienced a lot of strange things. I refused to stop going there. I started going to Commons movie theatre all the time then.
My mom works for the old lady that seen the mill race monster. And she was all over the news
nothing is scary ab mill race or the gardens.
The mills race monster was done by the columbus police department. They wanted to keep away from the park at night.
Hey Matt - like Keith I've just researched the Mill Pool monster. There's even a youtube video of a TV documentary that rein-acted the story. Great stuff. Si.
WILD Presentations 024 7601 6471 Ha! That's crazy. I'm gonna look it up. Thanks Si!
I live in Columbus no one calls it Death Valley
You're probably right. But that's what it's called. There are signs and plaques down at mill race.
I think he means back in the day.
Have spent alot of nights fishing there.
Mill race monster sounds like swamp thing lol love the drone shots btw!
Andry Rakotomalala thanks! You should read the eyewitness statements. it's just nuts. lol. But it because the two groups of eyewitnesses didn't know each other or about the others encounter, people believed it and the town freaked out for a while. crazy stuff!

Can you tel me where the actual railroad bridge is that the lady supposedly committed suicide off of with her baby in the 1900s?

You and me both. I mean, its Columbus. Stick around long enough, you'll see a monster. Just may not be THE monster. 🤣
Matt's Big Dream haha the monsters lurking around columbus are already scary enough to me
I use to go fishing there all the time an only one night I seen a creature of some kind. Just a quick glimpse of it an it was gone. I couldn't find it's tracks either. Just regular human shoe prints. I still fish there every now an then. It is a beautiful place an can be a little weird an strange at night lol

Lots of heroin addicts and meth heads in Columbus. That is the biggest killer in that area. Not much middle class there. Either wealthy and well off, or dirt poor and drunk or dope head.
Good video. Music very annoying.
Im from Columbus and literally have never heard anyone call it that before lol not a thing at all.
It seems the town has forgotten its history. There are books written about it, and a plaque down by the river.

Young Pastor February of this year. www.therepublic.com/2017/02/25/mill_race_park_tower_closed_/

Matt's Big Dream key word because of the park
