Lyrical English Translation:
THE BLADE
Caramon:
The sword feels every heartbeat with its blade,
Transfixing flesh and making blood flow freely.
Before me there’s a thousand roads to take,
But under me the ground is giving way,
And silently, the darkness gathers ‘round me.
Was it the Hand of Providence that led?
Or by the lure of Evil were you tempted?
If I ignore the bond that brothers share,
If I become the blade to do what’s fair,
I might then understand what Fate intended.
Each of us gained his own reward,
When we were tested in the forge.
I lost it all but stood my ground
To walk the Path of Truth I’ve found.
Heartache weighs heavy on the sword,
But stepping on this path, I must go forward.
I feel as though cruel duty or cruel fate
Has struck me blind.

В конце кусочек должен после 40й стоять. "И брат заглянул в глаза..." А плейлист замечательный, спс.
Эта версия песни "клинок" гораздо логичнее, чем в театральной версии.
Если брать книжного Карамона, я не помню чтобы он особо сожалел о начатой войне, как в новом Клинке. Он был привязан к своей армии и хотел победы. К тому же у войны была цель и без желания Рейстлина попасть к Вратам. Карамон жалел не о победе, а о поражении своих войск.
По книгам эта версия Клинка действительно логичнее.
Но на образ Карамона в мюзикле новый Клинок работает лучше, учитывая отсутствие альтернативного финала. Без нового Клинка Карамон выглядел слишком плоским и ведомым, неспособным против брата даже слово сказать. Новый Клинок показывает, что Карамон не настолько слеп.
В аудио-версии это раскрывалось в альтернативном финале, по-этому можно было в середине включить Победу, показывая что Карамон в войну заигрался. Но без альтернативного финала образ Карамона слишком упрощается без нового Клинка.
А еще, имхо, по звучанию Клинок намного красивее Победы и было жалко что эта песня существовала лишь в альтернативном финале, который знают далеко не все.
Этот Клинок вполне можно сейчас считать просто развитием темы противостояния братьев с той же музыкальной темой. Т.е не обязательно эти два Клинка должны заменять друг друга, они могут и сосуществовать.
