Please play partners with a legendary and their namesake item, such as purphorous and hammer, sissay and her ring, alhemeret and his archive, ghonti and his aether heart, etc.
Both the Djinn and Jodah were played incorrectly. Mana costs are determined as such: Determine which cost will be payed (normally, this is automatic, but since there are alternate costs in play, they have to decide which cost to pay). Then add all additional costs (including Commander Tax) Then subtract any reductions. So Fist of Suns would make Jodah WUBRG + 2n (where n is the number of times cast from the Command Zone)
Jeremy. I've been on your team so consistently. I always love you decks and your desire to just have fun. I feel so bad about how teamed up on you've been, especially recently. But you are really creating these problems for yourself. You so consistently have outs, you just have to think a little harder about your plays. You also have this desire for fairness so spread out your damage and punishment as easily as you can. It's admirable but ends up just punishing you because you make enemies of the whole table. Focus one person. play more conservatively, and go for the kill or the attack on the person who doesn't have the board to seek retribution.
All the players for the most part spread out the punishment. I imagine it's an agreement they have to ensure all players stay in the game to make an enjoyable video for as long as possible.
It would probably make for a long episode, but planeschase would make for a crazy edh game for the finale. You could even revisit planeswalker commanders for the theme. Using the planeswalkers that are legal as commander could be optional.
Play a game where nobody know what the other person is playing. Have all your commanders face down in the command zone and not reveal them until you go to cast them. It'll be interesting having everybody trying to figure out what everyone else is playing and I think it'll be a lot of fun, keep up the great content and I hope you see/like my idea.
yes! and as each player casts their commander, the other 3 get one guess (written secretly on paper) based on what's been played so far. A correct guess nets an extra point. If no one gets the correct commander, then that commander's controller gets the point.
Love how swamps and black in general punished Justin for a long time. It was like it was saying "See what happens when you turn your back on our mono colored greatness." LOL....too funny almost as funny as Jeremy getting that challenge.
Season finale ideas: 1) All cards must have the commander’s name in text or title 2) All Kamigawa block commanders 3) Everyone must use a commander from the set that they started playing in 4) All variant magic (e.g. Vanguard/Conspiracy/Planechase) 5) Saga as commander 6) Everyone gets a different Nicol Bolas as a commander (there is four) I hope that there is some fun things in there for you guys
Justin, need more self mill in that Muldrotha deck. Have to treat the yard like a hand extension and mill with that commander is just like card draw as long as what is going in is a permanent, especially since your compatriots appear to have only put ONE graveyard hate piece between the 3 of them into their decks (Jonathan had Bojuka Bog, that was all I saw in the deck lists that could have ruined Justin's graveyard).
This is incorrect. It is the same as playing a Zombie commander and rooftop storm. It is an alternate casting cost. Commander Tax only affects the printed mana cost.
Crabalien Nope, I'm afraid commander tax is applied after you choose which way to cast the general. 903.8: A player may cast a commander they own from the command zone. A commander cast from the command zone costs an additional {2} for each previous time the player casting it has cast it from the command zone that game. 601.2e: .....The total cost is the mana cost or alternative cost (as determined in rule 601.2b), plus all additional costs and cost increases, and minus all cost reductions......
You guys should run a game with custom conspiracies. Something like a hidden ability where "Once per game while you have 5 different planeswalkers in play, you may deal 10 damage to target player" or something to that effect. You could even make downsides like, "You may only play an instant if it is not the first spell cast this turn". I'm sure there are better ideas that you guys could come up with. And yes, I still have a couple FDs laying around.
You should play a two headed Giant version, since you are the commander variant series, with partner Commanders or something like that, oh and if you do play in a team force Stephen and Justin to be on one team that would be hillarious
Secret roles are a lot of fun to watch! It'd be cool to see the fans submit a lot of secret rolls to be curated by the team to have a 'secret role season' where every time they get new, challenging goals to build for.
next season should be similar but objectives that lose points like- -attacking 1 less than the total number of players loses you a point -playing nonbasic lands loses you 2 points -no legendaries other than commander or lose a point -only allowed to play permanents or lose 2 points so much you could do to restrict
Build thematic decks around Ugin, Nicol Bolas, Karn and Urza. Call it something great like The Final Bout. If you don’t want to use planeswalkers for commanders fair enough. But those themes would make sense for the final battle, some of the most famed and powerful beings.
For the season finale, you should do a game of battlebond, with everyone having partner commanders, and have Stephen Green be the homunculus commander duo... I think that's appropriate lol
Poor Steven and Jon. That's rough. Constructive criticism on those random hidden roles, maybe choose ones that aren't so dependent on colour choices? Steven had like zero chance both games of several of his in his colour.
And for Jon, there are 7 Lilliana's in mono-black and he's playing a commander that's only purpose is to tron, his other challenge. Not to mention, literally no one got a single hidden role completed XD
I got one, each player rolls a six-sided die and that determines the CMC for their entire deck, including the commander but excluding lands. So, if you roll a 1, you have a deck of all 1 drops and Isamaru as your commander.
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed the hidden roles even if a few of them seemed a bit poorly designed due to color restriction. I hope to see this next season maybe with like roles depended on what colors you get.
I’ve epilepsy, but managed to look away from the screen in time, knowing you’d pull something close to strobe lights for Yargle. Maybe not next time, ok guys?
Hey, guys greetings from Ireland, I love the show, was wondering if you guys would be able to recommend a budget camera for filming 4 player games from above the table as in your great show? Also to mark the first youtube video channel I have to every subbed to would you be willing to take an EDH deck submission to play on your channel? It would be really fun if you are up for it?
In that April fools video, I saw the Frankie peanuts, and was disappointed when I found out it wasn't happening. Video length should've tipped me off. I looked through the gatherer, and there are a ton of legendary creatures I don't think you guys have done before. Someone should run an insane red blue chaos deck for the finale, or maybe do the horde again.
Heroes Bane is one of my best mana sinks in Ghave, Rishkar, and a few other decks I love to use. I managed to get it to a 65,000/65,000 using Rishkar and a bunch of effects on board
Jeremy I have a deck suggestion for you. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/topdecked/ It's RUG, your favourite colour combo. It's built around Future Sight and similar effects. There's a lot of shenanigans that are enabled by that.
I think you guys forgot the seizure warning before showing the flashing lights. I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure if you need if, but I usually see one before flashing lights like those in this video. Anyway, great game keep up the awesome content.
I want to see a game using banned commanders. Griselbrand, erayo, braids, rofellos, leovold with no combos allowed. Or commanders who have a different color identity than their mana cost. Memnarch, bosh, etc. Both are narrow but griselbrand is my favorite creature and it pains me not to put the 4 demons in a deck together.
Expecting Stephen to read his cards is asking too much. On the other hand, Jon, Justin and Jeremy should know Stephen misplays cards constantly and should be watching him more closely.
I suggested this before, but how about decks, where each card you play must be from a diffrent edition/set? I mean that there can not be two cards in the deck from the same edition/set. For Example your deck has 35 lands and 65 nonlands, your nonlands have to be from 65 diffrent editions/sets
Each of you should play a sliver lord with no other slivers in deck (im looking at you mirror entity) and build a deck with cards from a single block. So one person could have original zendikar, another scars, and maybe justin could even have kamigawa
Man I was so excited for Muldrotha and kind of let down again. It has been rather lackluster IRL as well. :'( Also that is maybe a Medium at most. I like big cups.
Jon I have a deck suggestion for you. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/bant-mega-tokens/ It's based off the start of the "greatest damage possible turn 1 in a Vintage-legal 60-card deck with a fixed upper bound" challenge. It's pretty spectacular when it gets there.
Everytime director Kyle gets the chance to say another name, I have a glimmer of hope that he'll use one we made. Just have to go to season 9 comments if your stuck without one! #elbanditorandito #enclosureofenigmas #aimlessauditorium
Stephen I have a deck suggestion for you. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/that-other-grenzo-guy/ It's mono red, but it's actually good because it plays everyone else's stuff by stealing cards with your tokens.
When Jeremy pulled the kill Jeremy card, it was hilarious.
worldthroughabucket its how he avoided his death by randomness later. The RNG gods couldn’t handle him getting a point by choosing himself!
Please play partners with a legendary and their namesake item, such as purphorous and hammer, sissay and her ring, alhemeret and his archive, ghonti and his aether heart, etc.
Zach Mayer I think this would be a great game if Umezawa and his Jitte are banned for it
Urza and all that Urza jazz. Especially the Sunglasses.
This is a really cool idea. And rapples101, tbh, I don't think Toshiro Umezawa and his jitte would really be that OP
Emp I mean cheap unblockable commander with jitte on it seems OP but I could be wrong
rapples101 that's not the Umezawa whose jitte it is. It's Toshiro Umezawa's
Both the Djinn and Jodah were played incorrectly. Mana costs are determined as such:

Congratulations to Jeremy on not getting one-shot killed first! Good job, man!
Also, in Italy that is NOT a small
I haven't watched the video yet, and I'm excited to see what that second sentence is in reference to.
In Australia that is a large. At the movie cinemas it would cost ~$5
Jeremy. I've been on your team so consistently. I always love you decks and your desire to just have fun. I feel so bad about how teamed up on you've been, especially recently. until they all gang up on Justin and he's out in 10 turns ~
It would probably make for a long episode, but planeschase would make for a crazy edh game for the finale. You could even revisit planeswalker commanders for the theme. Using the planeswalkers that are legal as commander could be optional.

Lrrmtg has done this a few times and it's always amazing
Justin. I would like to see Jodah Cascade, with things like Yidris, Malestrom Wanderer, and Sunbirds invocation, and etali, and stolen strategy
Love how swamps and black in general punished Justin for a long time. It was like it was saying "See what happens when you turn your back on our mono colored greatness." LOL....too funny almost as funny as Jeremy getting that challenge.

Congrats to Jeremy on not losing the random insta-death! First time in a LONG time.
Zahid is still affected by commander tax. It's not like Derevi.
Zachary McCutcheon I didn't know that that's cool I guess it does say "cast"
Same for Jodah.
This is incorrect. It is the same as playing a Zombie commander and rooftop storm. It is an alternate casting cost. Commander Tax only affects the printed mana cost.
Crabalien
Nope, I'm afraid commander tax is applied after you choose which way to cast the general.

601.2e: .....The total cost is the mana cost or alternative cost (as determined in rule 601.2b), plus all additional costs and cost increases, and minus all cost reductions......
Crabalien also, rooftop storm does not ignore commander tax either.

I love in the videos where you can pretty much pinpoint when it's past Stephen's nap time.
I would have been great if everyone got the "Kill Jeremy" Card but it had an added bit of text that said "If you are Jeremy, survive."
Build thematic decks around Ugin, Nicol Bolas, Karn and Urza. Call it something great like The Final Bout. If you don’t want to use planeswalkers for commanders fair enough. But those themes would make sense for the final battle, some of the most famed and powerful beings.
@21:29 Myriad Landscape enters the battlefield tapped.
Also, please include strobe light warnings when necessary.
Steven had like zero chance both games of several of his in his colour.
frankieh i love it. Random and chaos are the best qualities. #RedMagicIsLife
Sure, but when you're handed something literally impossible to complete, it strains 'FUN'.
He had a chance to take all the turns in this game, blue and a commander that cares about artifacts is actually fine for his two point role?
He could have done it when he took Jeremy's turn and got a Terastodon trigger.
And for Jon, there are 7 Lilliana's in mono-black and he's playing a commander that's only purpose is to tron, his other challenge. Not to mention, literally no one got a single hidden role completed XD
I once managed to get Heroes Bane to 660/660 and managed to give it Trample with Bramblewood Paragon
Revisit the non-creature legends! I loved that episode and would love to see more. Especially if someone did a Legendary sorcery
I remember floppys and backpack cellular phones. Awesome show guys love to watch.
Sometimes the end tangents don't go anywhere, but watching the guys talk about being old made me giggle. I too know what a floppy disk is.
Thanks for the sweet Buffy reference, Director Kyle.
i hope they do the new Partners With legendaries next week!
I got one, each player rolls a six-sided die and that determines the CMC for their entire deck, including the commander but excluding lands. So, if you roll a 1, you have a deck of all 1 drops and Isamaru as your commander.
Dang John, that win turned my floppy disk into a hard drive.
I played Lucas Arts games off floppy disks.
Also we need a come back. #teamParnell #lustinforJustin
At #36:56, I probably would have sac'd both Terastodon's, given what Stephen had been threatening.
yay for being around the same age as you guys
Yes I checked the decklists, and yes I am disappointed Justin didn't at least put Urgoros in his 99 since he packed him
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed the hidden roles even if a few of them seemed a bit poorly designed due to color restriction. I hope to see this next season maybe with like roles depended on what colors you get.
I'd like to see you guys make custom legendary creatures of yourselves and play those as your commanders
Lord of Extinction in Justin's deck mighta been a good pick for his 2 point rule
Lol Jeremy's bonus card had me rolling on the floor😂😂
Who dares Bargle with Yargle?
I want you guys to do a mirror match up. everyone plays the same commander, but still brews their own decks.
I’ve epilepsy, but managed to look away from the screen in time, knowing you’d pull something close to strobe lights for Yargle. Maybe not next time, ok guys?
Well, didn’t expect the second one.... can’t watch the episode just in case sorry guys.
iamQUMPS Me too mate. This sucks.
Or at least put up a warning several seconds in advance
I would love to see Archenemy Commander with Jeremy as the Archenemy
in my country (Argentina) that size for a drink its like King or something like that
Great video! Muldrotha still needs someone to make her justice!
Play all banned commanders episode?
IraTeInSidiOusiG i've suggested throwing out the banned list for an episode before. Still waiting.
They've made it don't worry y'all
Justin's cup is getting larger and larger. #cuptribal
The trick now is to buy floppy disks (if you can find them) and then sell them to kids as "3D printed save icons" 😂
Playing catch-up on these videos, what’s this “story” thing they’re talking about? Magic has a story?
Heroes Bane is one of my best mana sinks in Ghave, Rishkar, and a few other decks I love to use. I managed to get it to a 65,000/65,000 using Rishkar and a bunch of effects on board
You've played vs. CFB, why not do one with the guys from Command Zone?
Jeremy I have a deck suggestion for you.
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/topdecked/
It's RUG, your favourite colour combo. It's built around Future Sight and similar effects. There's a lot of shenanigans that are enabled by that.
I really like these Hidden Roles episodes.
I think you guys forgot the seizure warning before showing the flashing lights. I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure if you need if, but I usually see one before flashing lights like those in this video. Anyway, great game keep up the awesome content.
Season Final, Battlebond Partners, 2 Headed Giant
Lol @47:40 “...Why don’t you do something?” So great! Lol
I know what a floppy disk is, and was told repeatedly during my childhood "Don't copy that Floppy."
I want to see a game using banned commanders. Griselbrand, erayo, braids, rofellos, leovold with no combos allowed.
Or commanders who have a different color identity than their mana cost. Memnarch, bosh, etc.
Both are narrow but griselbrand is my favorite creature and it pains me not to put the 4 demons in a deck together.
besides the seizure triggers, a pretty fun episode.
I feel like Justin always gets taken out first lol
YES!
Floppy. you mean the "Save" icon? :D
Steven cheating by not putting his landscape into play tapped and cracking it 23:55
Expecting Stephen to pay attention is asking a bit too much.
Every respectable commander player in the world knows landscape etb tapped.
Rude. People make mistakes. I bet if we filmed every game of magic you play we'd be roasting you. TEAM STEPHEN!!
Expecting Stephen to read his cards is asking too much. On the other hand, Jon, Justin and Jeremy should know Stephen misplays cards constantly and should be watching him more closely.
Andrew Schnieder oh trust me I'm 100% #teamgreen ain't cheating ain't trying that's what I always say.
Jeremy - that is not a small in the UK; either medium or large. Definitely not small!
I suggested this before, but how about decks, where each card you play must be from a diffrent edition/set? I mean that there can not be two cards in the deck from the same edition/set. For Example your deck has 35 lands and 65 nonlands, your nonlands have to be from 65 diffrent editions/sets
'What are buckeyes?' I died a bit on the inside.
Also that is maybe a Medium at most. I like big cups.
Wait, after discussing Danny West I heard rest in peace....was that for real?
In Iceland that cup would be large or even extra large. Yes, I know what a floppy disk is.
Did Danny West pass away? I liked his article on Dominaria. #ToughenUpWithWalls
In Austria Justins Cup would be the biggest or second biggest size you can get.
Stephen stephen stephen, why not make jon exanguinate for 46?
Y'all should do an episode with banned commanders
Number munchers on 3 1/2 inch floppy was childhood
I thought it was the “Secrets of Susan”
Is there a way to submit decklists? I thought I had heard about it before but I forget how to do it...
Gameplay starts 16:32
I just wanna to se they playing a zegana's deck 😭😭
Can you guys do more budget style deck builds?
Jon I have a deck suggestion for you.
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/bant-mega-tokens/
It's based off the start of the "greatest damage possible turn 1 in a Vintage-legal 60-card deck with a fixed upper bound" challenge. It's pretty spectacular when it gets there.
I laughed so hard at Jeremy's roles. Thank you #DirKyleWest
Everytime director Kyle gets the chance to say another name, I have a glimmer of hope that he'll use one we made. Just have to go to season 9 comments if your stuck without one! #elbanditorandito #enclosureofenigmas #aimlessauditorium
Could you guys play a 2 Headed Giant Commander game for Battlebond?
Have y'all every thought about doing Facebook Live? Or is there too much post-prod editing?
Do the guys of commander vs have a podcast
Come to Vegas this weekend guys, yeah its a cfb event but i can't afford to go to the east coast for magic... #puhleeze
I appreciate the yargle hype. Keep up the good work! #teamgreen
Ah yes, the mighty floppy disk. At least we dont have dial up anymore.
How many ml is that cup? It's a large in NZ
I want to see Jodah win, idk why. (posted at 7 minutes in)
Stephen I have a deck suggestion for you.
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/that-other-grenzo-guy/
It's mono red, but it's actually good because it plays everyone else's stuff by stealing cards with your tokens.
Hard to see, but I think that the mug looks either medium or large.
Decklist link dont show decklists?
I still own floppy discs with DOOM on them.
Oh, and #TeamSuarez
#TeamParnell #BluePlaymat #LustinForJustin #BlackManaMatters #Scoops #Chaoseceum
That water is an extra large in Japan.
Is it me, or the screen looks blurry?
ya i said that last week. their overhead camera needs a clearer lens or something idk
Justin, Urgoros cursed you for not picking him as the commander
How about "The Rando Cardrissian"?
