You guys are great. I am active duty navy and I’m stationed in japan. I watch every episode. Commander is finally catching on here in japan and I am gonna start a commander league here. Thanks for all the inspiration. Keep being awesome!
Man I love this series. Mistakes or not, it's the personalities and the interaction that makes this the most entertaining UA-cam series out right now. Thanks again for another great video, guys!
At some point, I would love to see you guys do an episode with the secret objectives again. That one was a lot of fun. Keep up the great content! I'll be rooting for Jeremy to pull of the come from behind win this season!
Weird idea for a theme, but have you guys ever considered a match where you all keep your commanders hidden until cast (still declare colors), and then offer a bonus point to anyone who successfully guesses another player's commander before it's revealed (only to first player with a successful guess, probably revealing when the guess is made.)
I saw Thrasios/Tymna in the title and I had to click it and pray that it was a competitive video and it actually was. You can tell they're not cEDH players tho :') Still much more enjoyable than the uber-casual content, for me at least :)
Hahaha congratulations Jeremy, that was awesome. I lost to a similar deck to that (post partner but pre-protean unban) when I was visiting Seattle last year. Thanks for playing the second game, appreciate it
He moves it quickly, but he cast Seize the Day off of his Etali trigger, Jon comments on it and asks if he wants to cast it. It adds an additional main phase and combat phase
He couldn't cast more than 1 spell per turn because of Rule of Law. And even If he had cast Seize the Day, it does not give you a main phase between the combat steps, so he couldn't have cast Insurrection, as it is a Sorcery.
Jeremy, in cEDH shocklands should come into play untapped unless you have literally nothing you can use them for. You slowed down both for your first two turns for 4 life! COMMON MAN!
Good game. Agreed, Jeremy had the only cEDH deck here'ah. I played a fair amount of cEDH with my old spike crew typically the cEDh choices would be: Kozilek, Breya, Zur, Narset. Budget cEDH choices: Locust God, Gitrog, Xenagos. I got tired of playing with that crew because the games were usually 5-6 turns int he amount of time it took this game we would've played 2-3 games; I spent more time shuffling my deck then playing LOL
I'd like to say thanks for keeping this episode interesting enough, you all played quite well and its neat to see how you guys give some generals and decks the love they deserve. I also like how some of you built decks and changed them to how your style is. I am very impressed by the level of each of your personal touches you placed into your decks and/or deckbuilding choices, such as the sheer attrition attributes of justin's list or the enchantress deck john chose to bring to the table. keep playing guys. also id love to see a week where each of you plays the same general, but with a completely different style of deck. Maybe hoard of notions could be interesting, because theres multiple value engines you can run, you can also use ways to change creature types with it to abuse entomb shenanigans, or plenty of other things. just an example for an idea. anyways keep playing yall are great
NiteJakyl Windfall and Wheel of Fortune effects are really common in CEDH, as well as spell taxing effects. Best to play a crypt while you can, especially since it's already free
That I can agree with haha. I think the twister was even the last card in his hand. Maybe he was wanting to wait and see what everyone was doing or something, but who knows
NiteJakyl twisting turn 1 with no open Mana after can be just as bad as good, though that is rarely the case as you are getting rid of hands that everyone kept.
icay4321 I think only reason for him not to play it there is to prevent viewers from waching a game where some people dont get to play because of bad luck on their next hand. I mean he was the first player. The net effect of the twister was draw 6 cards and dont allow your opponents to mulligan. That is as broken as it gets. He is however really likely to screw himself over by not playing it, since someone can play bunch of mana acceleration simular to him and they then get to refill their hand for free and use their cards before him.
in game 2 eladamri's call for cephalid essentially locks you in to turn 3 worldly tutor for nomads, cast them both on turn 4 for the win, you played waaaay too passively and got blood mooned as a result
Hey guys I love watching...I was wondering if you can have a turn counter somewhere on the table. Just when someone goes off I like to see when it was. =) Thanks for the content!

I like that you tried to play competitive commander. Though the decks seems to be not on the same level. Anyway, still good episode because of the fun discussions. More power guys!
You guys misread "Sandwurm Convergence." Stephen could ONLY swing into Jon with ground walkers. It's okay since it was a game of fun, but every one seems to misinterpret that card.
Why didn't Justin Overwhelming Denial the Evolution? Jeremy wouldn't have been able to search for Lab man and would've had to wait till the next turn for his combo.
When I first saw the title of the video I missed the '&' between Tymna and Thrasios and thought it was a 5-player Commander game. Slightly disappointed.
The competitive episodes are always a little more boring but at the same time i love them because of how hard everyone is actually trying. Nice to watch a real game with opponent interaction.

The Tynma/Thrasios list is near the very top of the competitive scene, where the other decks in the pod are more likely hovering around the 75-80% area
ThrasiosThymna aka Breakfast Hulk is one of the Top cEDH decks. Damia is a suboptimal Commander for really competitive Colors and Anafenza and Etali are pretty much non competitive at all.
I actually disagree with your assessment of Anafenza. Enchantress is unplayable, but a staxxy, hatebear build with hulk, boonweaver or razakats is a decent alternative to Karador. The asymmetric grave hate it quite good. I'll second your assesment of the other two Etali is unplayable, only mono red decks that are at all viable are Zada and Daretti, both of whom are very reliant on commander. Damia is just worse than SBT, tasigur or Thrasios+GB/UB for that deck.
I'm not an expert, but I'm fairly certain that due to layering(something I know very little about) all of the lands were swamps even with the blood moon in play, although I'm not sure if they could tap for black at that point so they might've just been swamps in name and not action, but I'm fairly certain:/
Sparky TheSpooderDuck The way blood moon interacts with urborg is that bloodmoon always has priority. Urborg will enter as a swamp and be unable to affect any other lands because state based actions. in the scenario that urborg is already on the field and blood moon is on the stack, mana could be added before it hits, but will be mountains after it etb. once blood moon hits, then there is no longer any urborg and the lands would be mountains.
Steven Anderson oops, thanks for clarifying, I looked it up once a couple months ago and as soon as it said the word layering I stopped listening to the explanation and skipped straight to the answer because I never learned about that kind of stuff
Also a thing to note is with Through the Breach. It says the creature dies at the end of turn, not at the beginning of the next endstep, so it doesn't really work to cast it at the opponents endstep, as it will be sacrificed at the end of the turn, just like a giant growth cast during endstep does not keep buffing the creature the next turn. 1:11:50 if he had kept the freaking rune-scared demon he could of tutored for Venser which was clearly in his deck and he would of had the game right then and there because he could of just bounced everyone’s permanents back to their owners hands and he had infinite mana. He had the game right then and there
This is a deck for whichever person likes counters, besides counterspells, and things entering the battlefield the most. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/blink-energy/ I haven't played or built it yet, so feel free to change things how you see fit, if you use it.
In my play group when people win in one turn and theres still 2-4 people still alive we call it ejecting from the game, they take the win but everyone else keeps playing for 2nd 3rd 4th etc.
How did Jon get his token back after teferis protection ended it exiled all his permanents and since you can't get back tokens because they vanish I just want to know if I'm right
No that part was correct. He casted it during Jonathan's end step so the "beginning of the next end step" was on Stephen's turn. He did cheat by taking an extra combat step without an effect that grants one after Insurrection though.
There was an Urborg in play, so both the maze and temple could be tapped for black. If you're going to criticize, at least pay attention to the game you're watching.
Jeremy, the secon seven was decent although you got rewarded with a very good 6. But I dont understand why you wouldn't timetwister on turn one, giving you an advantage of four permanents on board and going back to 7 cards. Also if u were not planning on doing it it's better not to play the crypt. Not criticizing you, just wondering if i missed something, you were playing arround something or maybe you missed that line.
I hope every cEDH video they do from now on involves one tier 1 deck and 3 tier 2-3 decks. Then maybe people will stop asking for cEDH videos in the future.
Love the occasional cEDH! However, next time it would be nice if the decks were more on the same power level. Was a bit sad to see Jeremy on a tier 1 deck while everyone else being on tier 2-3.
Jeremy, tired of the shenanigans of the gang, brought his full automatic rifle to the knife fight. He was not getting stabbed again. Not this time.
I like the sound of that

Jeremy is the only one using an actual cedh deck. My boy picked the best one too. So proud
Insurrection gives you a second combat phase?
1:14:45 Stephen attacks Jeremy. Then goes to 2nd main phase, casts Insurrection, and attacks everyone again? What?
Trying to understand that too...
The real question is how he can cast insurrection because his spell for the turn was seize the day and Jon had a rule of law still on the field.
He did not cast Seize the Day because he exiles it. If he had cast it, it would have gone to his graveyard.
So much new respect for Jeremy and Steven. Metalacolypse was such a great show. I miss it dearly. But I still listen to Dethklok a lot.

When Stephen played Hour of Devastation at 48:36 all creatures should've been exiled due to Anafenza seeing all of them as they die together...
Jeremy, why in the world did you play mana crypt turn one when you had nothing to do with it...

Mermaider Mermaider
the underwater one with the mermaid song i think...

So at 1:15:48 Steven ignores the effect of rule of law and gets to cast both seize the day and insurrection on the same turn.
22:00 Jon tapping Temple of the False Gods without five lands.
Punished Urborg was on the field

I just can't stop laughing. Jeremy is playing a really good combo deck while Stephen is playing Mono-Red Etali.... xD

Funnily enough, it isn't - he's actually a bit mad that a Doctor Who fan registered with that Twitter handle before he could.

Through the Breach says you sacrifice the creature at the end of turn, but Etali stayed on the field? He played it on Jonathan's end step I think.
Moshi Moshi Man yeah it says next end of turn not end step so I do believe it should have been sacrificed
No that part was correct. He casted it during Jonathan's end step so the "beginning of the next end step" was on Stephen's turn. He did cheat by taking an extra combat step without an effect that grants one after Insurrection though.
Ok I can see how I would be confused. Thanks for answering.
Jeremy's turn one play and then next turn time twister...he already had the game in the bag once he revealed protean hulk. well played.
Can we talk about Justin put green sun zenith in his hand instead of his library with his mystical tutor and then cast it?
or that maze taps for mana
or that temple of the false god taps for mana while 2 lands in play
they should really get a judge at their table
Both of those instances urborg and blood moon were on the field
There was an Urborg in play, so both the maze and temple could be tapped for black. If you're going to criticize, at least pay attention to the game you're watching.
