- This railroad design explores the possibilities of an HO-scale railroad within the confines of the client's dining room, so the side visible from the living room needs to look presentable.

I love the design phase of building a layout. So many possibilities and always with a challenge of getting the most bang for the buck.
Very interesting layout design dear Peter. Love how you’ve explained the necessity of the different grades to accomplish believable scenes in the relatively small allotted space.
Love how you walk thru the process of designing a layout. You make it look so easy. Thank you.
I've watched most of your layout design videos since I find them really interesting and this has to be one of the best ones so far! Really a lot of fun in a decently sized space. I especially like the lower level where you get a lot of running-area.
What a great and elegant design, really liked this one!
So much in a small space. Great!
Awesome design Peter
Very nice! Great job on the design!
This is along the lines of a size I may be able to work with when I am ready to start my layout in about 4 - 5 years.
Excellent presentation! I would like to see the layout built!
The layout is already built. There is a whole series of videos published already. Check out the "DRC build" play-list.
i'd be interested to see/know how many customers follow through in implementing the landscaping and scenery that you put so much effort into detailing
Probably none so far, since I've only been doing it professionally for about 5 years and most layouts don't get the scenery completed in that length of time.
have you tried Trainz game ? a great way to visualize the build on the PC , I build my new modular layout in trainz first then build it in real module by module .
Yes, I had Trainz a few years back. I think it was the 2010 version (might have been 2012). I even contributed a layout to the database.
Wonderful designed plan! What is the height the first level is planned to be ?
The client is still not quite sure where he wants the upper deck. Once that is determined, the other levels can be worked backwards from there.
How much do you charge to just design a layout
Please contact me through my web-site (link in the description). Tell me approximately how much space you have available, a little about what you would like to accomplish in it, and of course the scale you work in.
The client is a Batchelor? Or soon will be.
No, his wife is in the hobby with him.
@@mpeterll Wow, that's a keeper....
State or notate the scale, please.
30" radius for passenger cars, and 4" between helix levels would be for HO.
@@forbeshutton5487 Certainly makes sense but, as an N scaler, I would not use much smaller radius curves for full length passenger cars, auto parts box cars, etc.
Even if I forget to mention the scale, it should be pretty obvious from things like track centers and the turn-table diameter. Also, when I say things like 24" radius is too sharp for full-length passenger cars, that should be a dead giveaway that I'm not talking about N-scale. I've yet to see an N-scale layout with a larger minimum radius than that.
@@mpeterll Yeah. Just state it outright, please.
Thank you.
