  • Following a recent visit to Tom Percival's wonderful Apopka Vineland Model RR we have started to develop a scheme for operations across both our layouts. Watch here as we start this new departure by exchanging a car each on the other's layout: my GWS reefer #VCY25055 and Tom's coil car #CHTT100431.

Your friend has an impressive layout. Good step forward with the switch list for Operations- and moving cars from layout to layout is a great idea. Well done

Transferring cars from layout to layout is an idea I've thought about myself. It does add something to operating.

I’d certainly encourage you to give it a try!

Brilliant idea! There are 2 Austrian UA-camrs who send trains to each other's layouts (Heldvomerdbeerfeld and Borni), perhaps in the future you could send multiple wagons and maybe even the odd locomotive to each other's layouts and have your videos uploaded onto UA-cam at the same time, so viewers can watch the complete journey of the trains?
    Keep up the great videos.

It's an enjoyable video, I've just watched it with my grandson. He likes your setup and the idea of swoping cars between yours and another layout. We are a British layout, and the only American connections we've had are on my grandson's(12) last video for his Dylington Model Railway channel. Which was a stop-motion animation called the Dukes of Hazzard visit Dylington. If you've not seen it, give it a watch. Believe it or not, it took him ten hours to create. Anyway, we've enjoyed watching your video and have subscribed, we'reof to visit Tom's channel now... cheers James 🙂👍

I have 2 friends that live far away from me. We do the same thing. Only difference is we made a few cars exactly the same so we can move around without delay. When my friends take the car from the yard I put it in I then just remove that car till they tell me it’s back in my yard.

That’s a neat idea - one of Tom’s friends is keen to join in but lives further away so we’ll have to consider that workaround.

Really novel idea about moving freight across two different layouts. Your street scenes look amazing, and I'm wondering how deep your shelf is in segment 04:17 - 04:20.

Hi there thanks for your support. The layout is 32” deep at that point, easily the deepest bench work anywhere on the layout and resting on some repurposed kitchen cabinets for stability. Cheers, Ian

Hi it’s simply called the Apopka Vineland RR so I think you just search for it by that name.
