I used mine this weekend on top of my 4Runner. They worked well. Just have to get the strap situated before you get the second kayak in place. The 4Runner with the kayaks on it is very tall. Might need to step ladder or climb on top of the tire😂
The problem with these is loading. I have one and we like the way it rides. But loading toward the center of the roof of anything taller than a small SUV is not easy vs simple J-rack that can ride closer to the edge of the roof. The Malone load assist system does not work well with this. I also have not found a good DIY solution that would work well with this system.
Hi there, once you have both kayaks situated on the rack, and the strap routed under the bar and up through the loop of the rack. The process to tie down both kayaks is to drape the straps over the boats over to the other side, then route the end without the buckle down through the carrier, under the crossbar, and back up through the carrier into the buckle. Then pull the strap tight and repeat the same process for the second center tie down strap. Hope this helps!
Thanks for watching! No locking feature is available from Malone for this rack unfortunately. However, you may be able to utilize a locking cable for bicycles to lock the rack to the vehicle/gear to the rack.
It would depend on your crossbar setup, ultimately the length and maximum load capacity are the main concerns there. As well as the dimensions and weight of the kayaks. Short answer would be yes if all stars align, with the note that it may be very difficult to get the kayaks on the inside of the carriers with two FoldAway5's on the car.
The FoldAway5 is good for up to 75lbs per boat, so you would be fine as far as the kayak carriers go. However with 4 of those kayaks on the roof you would exceed the weight rating of majority of crossbar systems.
@@rackwarehouse hmmm we were looking at a Thule system yesterday that said it goes up to 220pds. Based on that I think the weight would not be an issue unless I am missing something.
I have inno aero bars. It seems as if the bars are too wide for the brackets. I contacted MaIone support before I purchased this rack. They assured me it would fit. I am a bit frustrated.
If the bolts are just not longer enough, you can purchase the longer 80mm bolt kits from Malone as a solution. If by width you mean that the hardware itself wont fit around your bar then unfortunately there wouldn't be a way to make that work with those bars.

Fantastic video, short and to the point
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
@@rackwarehouse I copied this verbatim last night transporting my first kayak and it worked great!
thanks :)
looks like a good product with a good price

How do you feed the straps for a second kayak, with one strap already through the plastic feed on the rack.

Can you lock this so it cant be stolen while you are kayaking?

I wish you showed how you got the second kayak up there. It looks too far from the passenger side. Do you need a giant to lift it up there?
We have a Toyota Tacoma and we need to carry 4 kayaks. Could I use two of these?

@@rackwarehouse our kayaks are only 47 pds each. We have the old town vapor 10s.

In the fit information, if you look up that rack in Thule's fit lookup. This system has a load capacity of 165lbs for your vehicle.
Can you get 2 of these and carry four kayaks?
If your crossbars are long enough and have a high enough load capacity, in theory yes. It may be difficult to load the inner kayaks however.
@@rackwarehouse ty, I really just need to load 3.

@@rackwarehouse thank you!
Wish it came with crossbars! I think it’s way overpriced.
