I just started sewing last year, making masks since no one needed bows during lockdown. Keep watching amazing people like this on you tube, you'll learn.
@@idkwhoiam2411 I actually used the pattern from the The Essentials Club’s channel because she provided a larger size option (I have a big head). I used 8.5x11 rather than A4 so I had to select print to scale
OMG, it´s so much fun learning to sew, and this is a perfect beginner project. Now you can move on to something a little harder! Get back to me, and feel free to send me some pics of what you make! :)
To anyone doing this pattern: I’d recommend making the brim a bit shorter if you want a classic bucket hat. It turns out a little big and sun hat like, even with the stabilizer, which is cute except I’m trying to make one for a guy who isn’t a fan lol
I know right! Only thing I would criticize about your comment however, is that she actually deserves over 1 BILLION subs, way more informative and fun than youtubers like pewdiepie, or Will Smith!
This is going to be my first time sewing something, I wanted a bucket hat with some nice patterns and decided why not do it myself. Thanks for the tutorial, I couldn't decide between 2 fabrics and bought them in hopes of making a reversible one. I hope it goes well
I've watched so many tutorials on bucket hats and yours is by far the easiest to follow, some suggest to add interfacing to everything which makes it almost impossible to sew together especially if you're a sewing newbie. The simple suggestion of making little cuts to allow for easier sewing around the curves was all that I needed to know, thank you. Subbed.
I made it! Twice! It was kind of the first thing I made after I started sewing some pouches... I have to say the size of the pattern was a bit tight for me. Never new I had a large head... Still fit, though. And I don't know how to make my own pattern yet anyway. Thank you so much Jenna for sharing all this with us! You're very inspiring.
@@sabrinakling7255 I believe Jenna said she used half a yard of fabric to make both layers of the hat. I'll be making this hat as well so I will let you know how much I use to make it!!
I want to say, thank-you I made 2 bucket hats so far.. This time round the fabric was so flimsy and I had no interfacing , my liner got caught underneath whilst doing the top stitching on the brim but before that it was smooth sailing .. You are a very good teacher and everything was on point, you did not dwell on one point to long , excellent tutorial..😊❤️
I am advising a fashion club at my school this year and the students are so excited to make a bucket hat thank you for the pattern hope it goes well! You rock!!!
Yes, my white denim bucket hat got a stain pretty quickly. I decided to tie dye it after that. I love this tutorial because I need a bucket hat in every color. I love wearing hats in the Summer. Im going to try to sew one with your video and pattern, I hope it turns out as nice as yours did!! Great Job
I'm getting into sewing and I've been looking for some simple tutorials to try and get started with and this one is perfect! Its such a good tutorial imma definitely use it for in the future
Thanks! I love the way mine turned out. And you're right it looks al weird and floppy until you're done with the stitching on the brim, but then it's so cool!
Hi Jenna. To turn the hat, instead of leaving an opening on the brim, try leaving it in one side seam on the lining fabric. That way, you can leave a slightly larger opening for turning and the closing stiches won't show.
Loved your tutorial. I laughed when you tried it on then said if it doesn't fit, and then shrugged your shoulders. Love that you don't go on and on, but get right to it. Do you have any more tutorials? Subscribed
I saw your thumbnail and I thought that the fit of your bucket hat looks perfect! Watched the entire video, downloaded your pattern, will definitely try this out. Thank you!
The hat is awesome. I made one several days ago and it turned out too small😔 I’ve started my second one. I put interfacing on all pieces. I’m going to try using sturdier fabric as I make more and only interface the brim because I like the way yours turned out
I love bucket hats, I have a denim and a white one, and I’ve been wanting a black denim one but don’t wanna spend $15 on another one😂 so this is perfect! Thank you so much!
Hi Jenna, how are you? I want to thank you for the tutorial and the free pattern. It is perfect. I did not have to struggle or cut snips to make ii meet with the other fabric. I did use 1/4 seam allowance, and the last part I did use 5/8 on the brim so it won be too long. Needless to say it was perfect. Again thank you for your knowledge and the pattern. Keep up the good work and tutorials you have given us. I will post as soon as I know how. Take care and be safe.
I literally wanted to sew a denim bucket hat last night but i didn´t and today i know why. I´m so glad i didn´t because now i can do it your way and hope it will look as good as yours. Thank yooooooou and love you
For everyone confused about the pattern size (like I was) - You have to fold the fabric for the sides and brim underneath the pattern so they are 2x wide when you cut it out, otherwise it won't work.
Thank you for this - I hadn't touched a sewing machine in 15 years until last week but thanks to your video I've just finished my first hat! it's not perfect but it looks like a hat so that counts for something!
Great tutorial. You made it seem so simple. I have loads of beautiful fabric and my anxiety makes it difficult for me to cut it. I just want to look at it lol now I might be inspired to make something for my granddaughter ❤
Oh my goodness!!! The bees wax baggies are so cute and so good!! I was afraid it wouldn’t “lock” my food in and it would roll out of the baggie. Thanks for showing how you use the bag. Would def get it for not only myself but family and friends too!!
This might be a silly question but is the pattern printed at actual size in the printer settings, I have 4 options to click on and they all differ. Thank you
This is so darn cute. You did the pattern and made it easy for us. I watched another one and you measure your head and all measuring, too much for me, this is so much better thank you so much.
Hi Jenna, found it, dah - just push the "Show more" button. I subscribed to your channel, you are detailed, very easy to understand and follow. You rock girl, keep up the great work. Wish you were in my neighborhood to meet up for a sewing lesson. I sew a lot of my clothes and love the process throughout.
Try doing a basting stitch before you do the head attachment part and pull the thread to gather it then when you pin it it fits to a perfect circle ! Takes time but looks amazing ! I love your videos btw :) your so talented!!
Hey Jenna, if it's not too much trouble, could you add a test square to the pattern to ensure the printer prints the pattern the correct size? Thanks so much for the free pattern and the video tutorial.❤
This was amazing! Easy to follow instructions. I loved your white denim hat so much that I made a white denim hat, with a beige reverse side. The beige peeks out from under the white. This was very easy and super easy to follow. The only problem I had, was the top park had too much material and it got little bunches around it. Do you know where I went wrong? Its still really cute. thank you so much this was inspiring.
I’m convinced that I’m doing something wrong because I’m often left with a bit of fabric so when I sew it I end up making like these darts on the bucket hat🥲 I’m following everything and just not luck of getting it right😣
I MADE ONE, IT SO BEAUTIFUL OMG, THANK SO SO SO SO MUCH, THE PATTERNS ARE GREAT I JUST ADJUST THE BRIM MOrE LONGER SO IT FITTED PERFECTLY. THANK U AGAIN
im so jealous of people who know how to sew, the admiration i have for them

+ 1 👍
& I would also make the side piece a bit taller if you want the hat so sit right on top of your ears (my hat sits a bit too high on my head...)
