Thank you for sharing this. I was struggling how to lock it the reversible bucket hat. Now I found it here. It's a big help for me. I found it easy to make it now.
I did it, i did it. Big thank you for the clear instructions! I tried before with other tutorial, but it didnt work. Despite the clear instructions the colors of fabric and the clean surronding as well as lack of verbal instructions make things totally clear. Thanks a lot from my ❤
I just made a short for my 5 year old daughter and I wanted a bucket hat to go with it. That's how I discovered your channel. Just subscribed, cause I'm looking forward to see more. You make it way easier for me with the patterns that you included. Thanks a lot!!!!
I've made 2 bucket hats recently and the first thing I noticed in your video, where's the INTERFACING? That's a must. I usually use a lightweight, like 931
Thank you so much for the great tutorial! Mine doesn't look as pretty as yours, but I'm learning! I appreciate all of your tutorials. They are so clear and easy to follow.
What is the seam allowance for the crown? I tried 3/8 in, but the side was larger than the top. I made the hat, but I want to do another one that is perfect. I just noticed that the gauge is 1/8 " off. I guess that would make a difference...ugh... Thanks for the tutorial.
I made the large - perfect for my full head of hair 🥴. ..not realising it is a pattern for adults - or taking the time to measure the head circumference 🙄 - I wear my dinosaur print proudly 😆 …making lots more now I love that the top is oval, not round
You may need to reduce the circumference of the brim. I did this for another hat. This is especially true if you add some inches to the width of the brim, as I usually do.
Which size did you make? There are 3 sizes, perhaps make the small size. Also did you print it directly from the browser-this skews the pattern? You should download it and open it with adobe reader or a similar program. Make sure to measure the test line to make sure the pattern printed correctly
I'm not sure what happened. The brim part corresponds to the crown. would advice you to to start at the beginning. print your pattern again but do NOT open it from the browser - use adobe reader or similar program. Make sure to print at 100% /no scaling/
It may have landed either in spam or in the promotional folder. It should also load it your browser but perhaps your browser is blocking the pop up. Try a different device(phone, pc) and /or browser
I love it this pattern is functional for kids of 4 years. And I would like to ask you if you could make a video of makeup and spa headband please i will appreciate thank you so much for share it with us
I printed out the pattern pieces, and boy was I wrong... I did not realize the pieces were bigger than your recommended 3" scale. Mine were 3 1/4" and the hat I made was gigantic!. It did not fit my husband's head (which he has a big head). So I printed again, this time I checked the measurement, and its at 3 inches. Here's hoping it will work this time
Oh, no! Please always measure the test line to make sure the pattern printed correctly. I saw on facebook that your second hat turned out amazing. Great job, Kathy
@@mariasolorio8542 what happened? Did you print it directly from the browser or your printer settings were off? 1/4 inch off might not seem like a big deal but it adds up. that is 1/4 inch off every 3 inches
Mine was HUGE!!! The crown touched my ears so adding the brim would make it a floppy hat and that’d not what I want! I’m going to make a paper hat 1st next time to make adjustments I wasted a great fabric
I have this pattern downloaded. I want to make the brim about 6 inches deep to maximize the sun protection for my face. Is there any guideline to use to determine by how much I need to REDUCE the brim outer circumference? I do not want a floppy brim. I prefer a brim that slopes slightly downward . I know how to slash the pattern brim in about 8 places and then overlap each slice by 1/4 to 1/2 inches ( or whatever is necessary). Thanks for the video .
Sorry I don’t understand how to print the pattern correctly. Is there a gauge I use or do I shrink or enlarge the pattern. Just looking at a previous comment and her hat was too large when she used the exact printed version. Thank you.
Perhaps she printed it directly from the browser. Dont do that. Download the pattern, open it with adobe reader or similar program and print at (100% no scale). Measure the test line at the top of the pattern to make sure it's printed correctly
@@HelloSewing hi I'm not sure as it was my daughter who printed off for me. If you could give me some instructions as to what I'm supposed to do. Thank you for your swift reply
@@traceyelston6776 you should not print from the browser. Download the pattern on your computer and open it up with adobe reader or a similar program and print from there. Print at 100% (no scaling) Print only the first page and measure the test line on the top. Make sure it is exactly 3inches. Even a 1/4 or 1/8 difference will result in wildly different measurements on the final product
I messed this up :( I've somehow managed to spend literally all day on it and can't get the part where I sew the top onto the crown to come together correctly. Is there such a thing as being too much of a beginner for a beginner pattern? I am disheartened. Thanks for your pattern, though!
I’m about to sew the pieces together and I see that this hat will be HUGE; the head circumference. 😱😱😱 I cut the large size. How can I make it smaller; for a smaller head size? Can I sew it with 5/8?inch seams versus 1/4 inch seams?
There is something wrong with the hat sizes. I cut a large size. I sewed it. It was HUGE! So, I took it all apart and re-cut it to a size small. It’s still huge. It falls down over my ears! I do not have a small head. What a disappointment and waste of my time and sewing materials.
Did you read the directions? You need to…1,download the pattern…2, print with adobe or what ever you choose. Print at 100% and check scale or it will be huge.

Great tutorial! Add a layer of interfacing to one side to have some great shape!
I used quilting cotton and duck canvas - no interfacing 👏🏻 excellent structure…..but yes if using cotton for both 🌸
I love how you explained each step in detail! Great tutorial

Great tutorial but what is the seam allowance you use as I cannot tell? Is it 1/2” for all ? Thank you
Thank you! 😊

I’m having trouble making the side line up with the crown. Any suggestions? Seems like I have too much of one or the other. I’m pinning.
Wow this is fun to make! Thank you for the simple yet comprehensive tutorial💕
Love this hat!! to make the brim firmer, can I add interfacing??
Yes, hats like this usually need interfacing (even 2 layers) for all pieces.
So fun to make. Thank you for the great demo
I absolutely love this. I did the med hat. I did a 3/8 seam line though out the pattern? Is that correct?
It's 1/4". Here's the written tutorial hellosewing.com/surgical-scrub-cap-free-sewing-pattern/
Thank you. I already make one. My first trial is not perfect, but I am very happy for the result.😊
Great tutorial. Thank you so much.

This is great, made one today. Any chance of a pattern for a child? 2-3 years old.
I'm inspired! Thank you
This is a nice hat. It would be nice to see how you do thread eyelets on this hat.

Hi i really love your pattern i have a question how do i change the head circumference ? is it the top pattern? the brim? or the side pattern?
Hi, the pattern is in three sizes - perhaps one of these wil fit you. Otherwise you'll need to alter all 3 pieces
Hi
Do you have children pattern? What fabric did you use?
Hi! New to seeing with patterns. How much of each fabric should I get? Will a yard do?
Thank you for sharing- nice and ezy.....👍🏽👍🏽
It is! Thank you so much for the kind words
Thanks, I'm making it now!
Thanks 4 the video looks really easy ❤️

Can anyone help me? I tried to do. But top is wider than crown.
You need to mark both in quarters and ease the top into the crown. Check the written tutorial in the description
I marked. but when I connect I have 4 cm more
You need to ease it onto the crown. Check out the written tutorial hellosewing.com/diy-bucket-hat-pattern/

It seams like this tutorial worked
You can also turn through a hole elsewhere - it’s easier to close up without leaving an obvious join in an obvious place.
This tutorial is for beginners and I believe this is the easiest way to assemble the hat - this is why I chose to turn it through a gap in the brim.

You go way too fast
You can slow the video down, just tap the 3 dots in upper right corner . Go down to playback speed and slow it way down!!
There is NOT a pattern on ur site
The pattern is in the Supplies and tools section. Search for bucket hat over at hellosewing.com
Helped a lot. Thank you.
