If Hasbro lets me to do a live-action remake based on the Transformers the Movie 1986 animated movie that has the same name and I'm sure Takara Tomy and Hasbro release this Optimus Prime masterpiece again
I saw this at Target today and snapped it up. I hadn't seen any videos on it, i havent even opened it yet, so i came here to watch your video on it. I think it'll fit nicely on my Optimus shelf.
Looks great in bot mode. If I got him, I'd leave him in that form. Also, I'd 3D Print plugs to go behind his wrists so he can support his weapon. Caps to cover the screw holes is a maybe. I'd have to see how deep they are; if they could support caps.
I think the gunmetal is just a little too dark. they probably should have gone with a slightly lighter grey on those parts. Not much, just, slightly lighter. Also it seems a bit, weak to be called "masterpiece" it's still a good looking figure in robot mode, but, deserving of the title of Masterpiece? that's a bit of a stretch.
The Premium Finish Studio Series Prime kicks this thing’s butt in many ways. It’s really egregious. Between that head in robot mode and the cat ears in alt, it has 2 issues you can’t help but stare at.
Some say that they aren't in fact the wrong truck, the truck in the end of the movie that wasn't Optimus, it just *looked* like him. I believe this is Really stupid since they absolutely NAILED with the Freightliner FLA-96 and changing that for the Marmon from AOE is a really dumb decision in my eyes
I'd argue any benefit given to Hasbro due to safety guidelines are easily cancelled out by the fact the 3rd party companies aren't multi-billion dollar companies with far more resources to put into developing the toys.
I think that the gray or gun metal gray is really dark like really frickin dark and I also think that his head antennas look like Batman. And they look warped. Anyways great figure and awesome review man!!!!
The figure looks good from certain angles but unfortunately it has a lot of exposed pegs and kibble in both modes; just pose him slightly at an angle and the illusion fall apart. And in fact it's only a remold of SS-38 Optimus, which ends up hurting the aesthetics.
I'm surprised that no one has ever pointed out that the cabin in both the Masterpiece and Studio Series figure look completely different from the actual truck seen in the movie. It's a shame, since imo that truck looks much better. That was one of the main reasons why I got Earthrise Optimus instead of the SS one.
It looks so cheap in vehicle mode but it's largely redeemed in robot mode. Still, I expected Takara to crush this and it hasn't. I'm much more impressed by ToyWorld's and ThreeZero's efforts.
Toy Worlds did "worlds" above this imo😂 however the back of the truck was super long. So far the pinnacle, for me is the MM-01 Bumblebee Prime. Not only is the truck amazing but robot mode is a sight to behold, just be ready to sell a kidney as it goes for ridiculous prices, but if you want an amazing figure, grab it!! You won't be disappointed.
Why does the truck have a silver stripe on the front and white stripes on the side? In the movie the stripe was all white. It isn't as if Hasbro needed that silver for one part of robot mode, the entire front of the truck just flips around and becomes the inside of the backpack.
Which do I prefer? Honestly there is no contest Toyworld blows away the official simplicity is ok but MP figures are supposed to be a step up above the main line. Sometimes complex transformation is worth it to achieve something that looks almost spot on to the source especially for MPs. This looks more like a leader class figure it doesn’t look horrible, not bad….just decent. Personally this is a step back in the engineering for the MPM line….just look at the very first MPM Optimus now that was neither complex or to simple yet it nails the look.
So I paused at 2:47, after going "wait, what?" I agree with what your saying about the gaps, but you have one big one there on top of the cab at the back due to mistransformation. That one closes up.
Mmm as someone who wants to buy these toys for his kid, playability matters a LOT. I wish I realized this before I went crazy and bought a bunch of 3rd party transformers... I heard freedom leader is a nightmare, I hope mm0-1 is playable and the transformation isn't bad.
He looks like a special edition like commander class or something, not a masterpiece. That kibble and the bad molding like... I'd pay like 80-100 dollars CAD for him but nothing else
The mom look amazing. The kibble isn’t that bad looking. Best one made so far IMO. Way better then the toyworld. Since you can’t transform it without risking breakage. Plus if you like the toyworld might as well get the three zero one and get one that the best
a lot of times in the video he was saying how it was a minor critique and like possibly opinion, like the truck kibble on the arms, more articulation in the fingers, or like diecast but IMO i think all of that should be a given when it comes to MASTERPIECE transformers. We are paying a high premium price for this so we should get that in quality
So you're telling me that Hasbro shut down a company (Wei Jiang) which made better figures than Hasbro itself and yet they still didn't learn their lesson and continued being lazy to make a good quality figures and instead putting them overpriced?! I dont care if people hate this figure I'm all in and can't wait to pick one up, either the official or knock off, the 3rd party bumblebee versions of prime are absolutely perfect with one exception for me and that's there too big!
Them cat ears on the truck mode still bothers me but the robot mode looks fairly good
His legs and the tires are both so small. Also truck has cat ears
This doesn't feel like a Masterpiece at all. Nothing about it screams "premium" or "best of the best" when it comes to what HasTak has to offer. Honestly looks and feels more like a glorified leader class figure.
To be fair though optimus in the movie was a longer truck which no figure has really gotten right
Wow, I was gonna give the Masterpiece figure a pass at first because on its own, it looks pretty good. But next to Freedom Leader it looks like a joke. The difference in detail, quality, size and accuracy is stark. It's insane Hasbro charges so much for this "Masterpiece" when it's so lacking compared with alternatives the same or lower price.
Looks amazing I’m blown away by the sculpting and the accuracy to the movie
Bro… you haven’t seen freedom leader right?
@@ciudadanodeunpaislibre9922 i have but this is awesome
@@fartfast4834 bro, like this is not movie accurate.. only a few things here are a little movie accurate and that’s it. You gotta understand that hasbro here was lazy af
@@fartfast4834 tbh it’s ok if you think this is cool and all but really hasbro or takara hasn’t been innovative recently, except for the v3 of g1 starscream
@@ciudadanodeunpaislibre9922 dude i really don't fuckin care what i think is what i think and i think it looks movie accurate
I was worried about this figure but it surprised me with how good it is probably my favorite mp figure probably the best one in my opinion it's simple and so detailed it's much cheaper than mp 44 and it's better then it to it has problems but it is fine on my copy the wrists are solid and tight same with the joints 10/10 would recommend
👀 you got a concussion?
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 🤣
I almost had aneurysm reading that.
You're joking right?
@@_V.Va_ ya mad? Or do you hate when people have opinions
2:04 But you forget, PVP, the Aoyi Mech LS-13 gets a really clean truck rear!
Well, it took cues from the SS-38 but still a clean 3P hind.
If Hasbro lets me to do a live-action remake based on the Transformers the Movie 1986 animated movie that has the same name and I'm sure Takara Tomy and Hasbro release this Optimus Prime masterpiece again
The truck bed reminds me of the mainline bayverse optimus primes, from what i can remember they usually just folded the feet up for the truck lol
The Leader Class and MPM Primes did really clean truck rears.
that headsculpt..Studio Series did a better job..for this version of Optimus Prime, Studio Series is the best
“Master Piece” 😂😂😂
The Premium Finish Studio Series Prime kicks this thing’s butt in many ways. It’s really egregious. Between that head in robot mode and the cat ears in alt, it has 2 issues you can’t help but stare at.
The main problem for me with all the official offerings of the bee movie Prime, is that they are the wrong truck.
Copyrights/licensing
@@abdelrahimmohammed1814 not exactly, cause these trucks (without counting mpm) are based on a Marmon truck, the one from AOE
In other words, water is wet XD
@@abdelrahimmohammed1814 I guess but look at the earthrise prime looks close to a freightliner and even this one looks like a marmon.
AOYI Mech be like : well, we can fix those errors....
I think that the gray or gun metal gray is really dark like really frickin dark and I also think that his head antennas look like Batman. And they look warped. Anyways great figure and awesome review man!!!!
His head looks like Robert Pattinson ugly Batman's cowl
@@TheBatman39 that’s actual facts.
the cat ears on the truck mode is cute Lol
@Steven x Spinel Lover omg you have alot of subs
The figure looks good from certain angles but unfortunately it has a lot of exposed pegs and kibble in both modes; just pose him slightly at an angle and the illusion fall apart. And in fact it's only a remold of SS-38 Optimus, which ends up hurting the aesthetics.
yeah I'll stick to the studio series version. shame how far the masterpiece line has fallen
They can easily put a hinge for it to be folded, but they chose to pit cat ears to a truck
This might be the first mpm I'll be skipping, does fit well with the equally bad mpm07 though.
lmao
I hope toyhax does a set of stickers to darken the windows and add some extra details. Ive pre-ordered MPM-12 already and can't wait to get him.
MPM Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime needs a version 2 mold.
Is mpm 12 gonna be a target exclusive in the US ?
I’m going to buy this and keep it in robot mode and keep my Toyworld in his Freightliner cabover mode with my custom trailer that fits him well💯
i think your backwards i would keep this guy in truck mode then the toyworld in robot mode because its more accurate and doesnt have cat like ears
@@megajackproductions9154 yes but the cat years on this only visible on the vehicle mode
My only problem is the pointy panels in the vehicle mode. Other than that, I am looking forward to buying this figure.
Im not trying to be rude againts Takara, but even the 3rd party companies did better than THIS
freedom leader is the only BBM prime with Freightliner alt mode and is 100% accurate coming from 3a prime
Hey PVP Please Review the Transformers AD12 Revenge Optimus prime. PLEASE!
I remember having that figure, just looked up reviews for it, forgot 2014 was 7 years ago
I'm not even a big fan of the Bumblebee movie, but part of me wants to get these kind of figures.
"Masterpiece"
I prefer the wheels to be plastic though. My old MP series with rubber wheels are breaking into pieces due to weathering.
The head is too thin and he looks like he's on the verge of crying for some reason to me
So I paused at 2:47, after going "wait, what?" I agree with what your saying about the gaps, but you have one big one there on top of the cab at the back due to mistransformation. That one closes up.
I'd like to see this mold in Nemesis Prime colors
Or maybe even another Ultra Magnus, just a different trailer that breaks apart to connect ?
That head sculpt is so thin, it starts looking like 2007 Movie Prime.
This would work better as a "cybertronion version"
Yeah the robot is more Cybertronian-y with and should of had an Cybertronian alt-mode
Yeah!
Freedom Leader is better-
I just wish the colours of Freedom Leader were more like this one. Bolder, and less muted.
agree stickin..to my tw freedom leader
Not really
a lot of times in the video he was saying how it was a minor critique and like possibly opinion, like the truck kibble on the arms, more articulation in the fingers, or like diecast but IMO i think all of that should be a given when it comes to MASTERPIECE transformers. We are paying a high premium price for this so we should get that in quality
can you do a review on the Mechanic Studio AstroTrain next?
He's pretty decent in my opinion. The head and the shoulder protrusions don't annoy me.
This is one of the most disappointing figures of the year to me.
Robot mode looks alright tho.
Whoa 😮 that robot mode is super clean, clearly it is made to stay in that mode.
So you're telling me that Hasbro shut down a company (Wei Jiang) which made better figures than Hasbro itself and yet they still didn't learn their lesson and continued being lazy to make a good quality figures and instead putting them overpriced?! Hasbro and Tekara now is like Apple all over again...🤦♂️
More like EA
good review... robot mode is also good. but in truck mode it needs to be improved. I think The "cat ears" can be folded and the calves can be hidden in the gap in the center
