I love the SS version but wanted to try out a MPM because I love this version of Prime but after seeing this review it seems like they kinda dropped the ball in a few places. I didn't notice the cat ears before and that actually takes away from the design of alt mode!
I'm a little late to comment, but I just received this figure, and I gotta say I love him. He's a rad looking truck, a kick-ass robot, and I don't have to write off the entire afternoon to transform him. When I got my first Optimus for my birthday back in 1985, I think it took all of two minutes to transform him without instructions. It didn't bother me that the truck wasn't a perfect scaled down model of a real Freightliner, and I gave a steaming turd about the robot mode not being "cartoon accurate." Isn't a fun toy the entire premise behind transformers in the first place? I have several third-party figures, and they are awesome. I researched every Bumblebee Movie OP I could find, analyzing the trade-offs between scale vehicle mode, movie-accurate robot mode, what other people liked and didn't like, etc. Then I thought about how I rarely take my "accurate" Transformers out of my display case to fiddle with, and I decided that fun would take precedence over accuracy. I also really like the chest-plates on this figure, mainly because of the sun-visors that wrap around the main windscreens. It's a small detail, but I think they make both robot and truck mode look bad-ass. There's room for improvement, but that's been every Transformer since 1984, and the "flawless/accurate" examples we've seen over the years look great in your display cabinet, but let's get real; they're not fun to play with. I'm having as much fun with this figure now as I did when my dad got me Optimus when I was nine. I have no regrets.
this would be completely valid if this guy wasn't 100+ bucks and wasn't in the *masterpiece* line, which is supposed to strive for accuracy. not only is he completely innaccurate, he's also more complex yet less good looking than the studio series version, which is an actual toy for kids.

Absolutely perfect end for that Toyworld prime! LMAO 😂. Seem like Wei Jiang’s version is the best so far. Simpler transformation, good accessories, and looks great.

I don't get how the clever leg transformation from the studio series figure wasn't built upon for the MPM figure's alt mode. It looks great in robot mode though.
Studio Series one has the better vehicle mode, but MPM's robot mode is pretty cool! As for the cat ears... Actually some trucks do have those. Dunno why HasTak decided to suddenly give Optimus some.
I picked this figure up yesterday and it is incredible. I feel like there are people that will pass on it because of the cat ears and the legs not being the most well hidden in truck mode but it is so good.

I really like this figure. Also, thanks for mentioning that Toy World Prime as I had been offered one at a low price recently, now I know why. Glad I Skipped getting it off the guy and also very glad I skipped it when it did come out if it keeps breaking.
You want to know something that will blow your mind? Alternators Optimus (he's a dodge ram pickup so it isn't that much of a giant change) and Alternity Convoy (A NISSAN FRIGGIN GTR! THAT IS THE ONLY VERSION OF OPTIMUS THAT IS A CAR!) he also appears in the Q transformers line. Also in Alternity Starscream is a car with a flight mode like tracks, Megatron is a nissan 350z, and ultra magnus is a nissan gtr race car. Also bumblejumper is present as a Suzuki Swift compact car but that is not a big surprise.

I believe in Wei Jiang Supremacy † (really, definitely my favorite mpm Optimus). I really love how this Prime looks, I just don't like the ears in truck mode lol. Other than that, one helluva enjoyable figure, take that Toy World!

Well, ToyWorld's Freedom Leader obviously did not come with the matrix of leadership, so that's why it fell apart.

@@tracyhess3373 Thanks, Wei Jiang's Commander Leader (which is unfortunately their final release due to them being raided and forced to shut down) also did not come with the matrix, but hey, at least that one shouldn't be able to break, because the transformation on that figure is more simple than ToyWorld's Freedom Leader.
My Targets didn’t have this Optimus Prime when I checked last year. 😢
