      By ‘76, he WAS Archie Bunker in a way. That character belonged to him. It was fascinating and very interesting to hear him talk about improvisation during rehearsals. Once the actors got comfortable with their characters, I’m sure they added tons of their own lines and zingers, especially Carroll!

      I remember that interview where they decline on Marie and Donny Osmond Show. He probably did it here because it was during the 1970s and All in the Family was so popular. By 2000, a whole new generation had passed and they both had moved on to other projects.

    • @matsumoku1
      @matsumoku1 4 роки тому +2

      @@dolphingurls8204 I agree with you, I think she did not like making that voice. I sort of recall that she might have said that in a different interview. Also, people always think of Arc as the one being made to look bad. But after all these years it's not Archie that looked bad at all., it's the Edith character. Go figure that a so called "liberal" writer would end up making Archie look good and a female look bad--shades of leftist sexism and projection. You look at people today, what they say about Archie is that he was right and meathead was wrong. But it wasn't an archie type character that was oppressive to women, it was "liberal" projection onto conservatives. Just like today, nothing changed.

    Just sheer brilliance. They always say how Walter White wouldn't exist without Tony Soprano. And I always say that Tony wouldn't exist without Archie. Yes the shows' premises were very different on the surface, but ultimately they both were complex characters examining the deepest darkest parts of modern American society via virtuoso actors and writing. And to take it one more level, Archie doesn't exist without Ralph Kramden. Absolute geniuses, and credit to Mr. Norman Lear, who unbelievably is still with us.

      Wasn't "All in the Family" based on a British sitcom? How similar were they? (I think that it was called "Man About the House")

    Carroll, answer each question as yourself and then as Archie Bunker would answer it...ya, that would go over well in 2020!

    One might dismiss his incredible acting skills on AITF but once you see the real person behind the character it's obvious how incredibly talented he is.

    He was very liberal. He was highly educated and refined. He felt fighting about race was a waste of time cause you cant change what race you are born into.

      I wonder how Carroll ‘O Conner would feel about the liberals today compared to the 70s. He may have been a liberal but I don’t believe he would be as far left as they are now

    • @matsumoku1

      @@cathybernard3325 "liberal" is a term that today's retards have coopted. Caroll o connor would not have agreed that today's leftist's are in any way liberal. As far as Donna's comment, it's just idiotic., Being a libtard is the opposite of being educated, it's brainwashing. Look up Thomas Sowwell if you want to see an educated "conservative", or what liberals used to be.
