I have a digital inventory system for all my fabric, vinyl (for bag making), hardware and a few other odds and ends.
I started with having paper with pieces attached. And that wasn't for me because I would forget about it.
So I spent probably a month creating an Excel document that has everything together.
All my fabric got inventory numbers and letters.
It also semi automatically adds and subtracts what I use.
I started that all in February and so far have been impressed with myself keeping it up. I couldn't find a way to integrate photos of the materials (I know other online systems have that ability. And of course that is one benefit to the paper system. Being able to see and feel all the samples)
The one thing I probably would have added would be a location in my space section. So it would make things easier to find.
But then I would end up having to update that if I moved things around.

I’m also trying to be more analog. It just has always made more sense in my brain.

Hello from Canada, NIagara on the Lake Canada. I am a Stay at home Mom of 2 boys (12 and 15) We will be going into our 10th year of homeschooling. Hubby has a concrete business (driveways, sidewalks and patios etc.) I am learning to sew on UA-cam and I love it. Love your flower bags. Do you have a pattern for them? I love this idea of fabric swatches and cataloging them. I have to figure it all out. I have way too much fabric for my craft room, so I need to put it in boxes and stack. If I can catalog them well I could know exactly what I have at all times and know where to find each one. So exciting. We just moved and what would have been the dinning room is now a fantastic craft room with french doors and a huge front window. I am so blessed.
