I first noticed a variation of this on Kendall Jenner from the Kardashians, only she wore cornrows instead of twists. I like to use twists instead, because they are faster to do. If you were to do cornrows, this hairstyle could be used for a week or so.
Depending on where you part your hair, you could use only three twists or as many as five... it is all up to you!
Feel free to tag your own photos of this hairstyle with: #CGHSideFlatTwists
This is a fun look that takes very little time to do. I have our hair straight, but you could do this with curly or wavy hair as well!
Don't forget to tweet me at @CuteGirlHair and let me know if you would like to see Homecoming hairstyles or Back-to-School hairstyles!
    Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 alligator clip or large hair elastic, 4 small bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}.
    Time Requirement: 5 minutes

For all you people who keep saying that she was being racist when she said " my little black daughter's hair", she isn't. If she was racist, she wouldn't have two adopted black kids. Again she is not racist, she was saying that her adopted baby girl has different textured hair. Why does everything have to be all about race? There is only one race and that is the human race. We are all the same people, just different shades.

I also agree, but she only said that so we could have an idea of what her other daughter's hair texture is like:) I don't think it was racist, people are just over reacting a little bit :)

Mindy responded to some comments a while ago that she didn't say African American because her daughter is not from Africa, she's Caribbean so just using black was more accurate. I'm sure she didn't mean to offend anyone.

I'm black and I don't see what's wrong with her saying black, besides black people are not just African American. They can also be African like me or Jamaican or Haitian so there isn't anything wrong with saying black. Same with white people. They come from all over the place. It is just easier to call people black or white or Asian depending on their race. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. As long as we are all being respectful to each other.

SHE IS NOT RACIST!!!!!! SHE IS JUST STATING SHE HAS A BLACK DAUGHTER, WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT THAT!!!! Jeez some people don't know what racism is. I noticed these days once someone hears a person mention a race, what they said is automatically racist, well sometimes, IT'S NOT!! People have to know the difference between mentioning a race and being racist, CAUSE THEY'RE DIFFERENT!!

PLUS, if she were racist do you think she would have adopted the little girl? No. That's what I thought. *rolls eyes at people that don't know the difference between racism and explaining a difference that Mindy doesn't even acknowledge *

I know. I didn't understand what was so offensive. It's just a fact that black people tend to do corn rows and whatnot more because of their hair being a bit more difficult to manage. But I guess somehow acknowledging that is suddenly racist. I am all for minorities and their rights, but people go a bit too far with it. It's like you can't say anything anymore.
It's like me getting offended, because someone says that many people, who use a wheelchair, are unable to walk. It's just mentioning a fact.

she is just being accurate. its not like she is talking down about about her daughters race, she is making a point. i have mixed roots and my hair is more "black girl" textured. but if someone made a comment like that i wouldn't be offended because its the truth. black girls and white girls have different types of hair usually. instead of getting offended by her choice of words, be proud of who you are and stop nit-picking over stupid little details.

she ISNT being raciest! She has more than 1 daughter and in order for people to tell the difference between who she was talking about she said my black daughter. The reason she didnt just say names is because she feels its unsafe to give out names for her kids. (Except for brooklyn and bailey cause the obviously already have their own youtube channel and are older) So stop giving out all the hate comments! She did nothing wrong!

Black people have been doing this style forever, I do this on myself all the time, but she first saw it from Kylie, therefore Kylie is now and will now be credited for the style because apparently she was the first person a lot of people saw with it. Now it's 'that cute style Kylie wore' because of her platform - even though she got it from someone else (who is probably black)

But when people say black to people there's a whole uproar in the comments. Grow up everyone gosh. The video isn't entitled "mother called her daughter black" now is it? She is NOT a racist, and to the people telling her she should use the term African American learn that most black people that live in the USA are no longer African, they are American cause they were born in America. Why do we have to use the term African American for colored people that are born in the USA but we don't use the term European American for all the white people currently living in the US?

People are saying she's racist for saying "my black daughters hair" and black people are commenting saying she's racist and she shouldn't call her black but you guys call us Caucasians white people all the time. When someone says black person it's racist but when people say someone's white it's not a problem. She isn't racist and I knew when she said that I would find a lot of black people bitching and calling her racists but if she was racist why would she adopt two black kids? Your skin is dark and not black okay whatever, my skin isn't white it's a cream color. It's not a big deal. Don't complain when the same thing is done in vice versa. No one bats an eye when someone's called white, but if someone calls someone else black then all he'll breaks loose and it's stupid. This video is about a hair tutorial and everyone has to make a big deal over nothing like always when it comes to things being racist.

I don't get the people saying she's racist for saying "my black daughter" ? How else would you like her to clarify she had a black daughter with different hair.. there's really only one way to say it so stop making nothing into something and watch the video.

  • @labambinax33
    @labambinax33 9 років тому +11

Wow. Just let her do her daughters hair. Ppl are so OMG but IT HER DAUGHTER so i HiGHLY doubt shes racist against her own child.
If a "white" person cannot refer to an "black" person as black then before you start complaining...
We as Caucasian Americans demand you stop referring to us as "white". Its either mutual or irrelevant.
Either way stating a fact about someones hair or color is NOT racist.
RACIST is saying something derogatory or hurtful about someone based on the color of their skin. NOT just simply calling them "black" or "white".
    Get over yourselves ppl.

Exactly i hate that people are always screaming Racism. Im sure if the mother in this video was racist she wouldnt have adopted a child of another race. People are so quick to jump without thinking. My kids are half hispanic and i call them nicknames sometimes based on their hispanic side and others on their caucasian side. Nothing derogatory obviously so NO im not racist.

I hate that people are commenting that she's racist cause she said her daughters black. That's true she has a black daughter. If she had said my white daughter nobody would have thought anything of it. Why is it okay to say white, but not black? People are like say African American. No! She black so why do people assume that's offensive when white not.

I am a huge fan of Cute Girls Hairstyles! I always braid and style my own hair. I just tried this hairstyle and I love it! I am thinking about trying it on my little sister's hair. Her hair is thin so it is hard to find hairstyles that will work with her hair. One style that works amazingly with her hair are the straw curls. It is tedious so I don't do it often but when I do style her hair with the straws she looks like she has Annie's curls because my sister's hair is naturally red. I am hoping I can do this hairstyle on her and that it will work! I also hope that she will like it!

It will affect how much space you have to work with, and it will show your ear, from what I can see. As someone who got called Dumbo through most of school, I recommend watching Lord of the Rings and coming to love your awesome elf ears :)

Apparently acknowledging someone's race is AUTOMATICALLY racist... SMH. If she just said "Daughter" people would automatically assume she's referring to a young girl who's also white (LIKE HER). She's just showing that some styles done on little black girls can also be done on little white girls (or other races with with very fine straight hair).
While we all do look the same on the inside there are things that differentiate us from one another on the outside; eg: height, body shape, and Yes, skin color.

Saying someone is African American is actually more racist in my opinion. Just because someone has black skin does not mean they are of African origins, or even that they are American. They can be from Jamaica for all you know, or be Canadian.
