One of the best reviews I’ve seen of this can, and it really goes into the particulars of why somebody would want to own this suppressor. I agree, it’s quirky, but it does have its place. If I can find a deal on one, it’d make a great nightstand or hiking can.
Cool video. I was surprised at the lack of videos on this suppressor. I have two of these on order. People often don’t understand that K cans this size are very loud unless you use an ablative or better a completely sealed wipe can like you have with the Aurora II. It’s good to hear they are replacing the internals now, for some time they weren’t offering this service.
Absolutely, cans are tools just like anything else, guns, lights, clothes etc. And wow, I didn't know Gemtech wasn't replacing internals at one point. When was that? As you can see, this video is coming up on a birthday. It wouldn't surprise me if Gemtech wasn't currently doing it. I fear for their future.
@@thecontemporarygentleman I think they offer the service because of legal reasons (They sell you something that is difficult to legally redo then they need to do it). The service is 29.00 and good to use because they know exactly how much grease etc.
Oh, and yes, nowadays, you can use hollowpoints with wipes: the hollow points that have the cap/ball/plastic thing thats supposed to keeo them from clogging from clothing and enable some of them to pass through barriers like fmj but act like a hollow point in flesh. I haven't been able to tedt it yet....but i really think they could survive wipes no problem. I have an old form 1 id test it on so i don't risk a nicer can.
Excellent review! I really like your explanation of current customer service / product issues allegedly related to Covid. As of 03/10/2022 the Gemtech website lists wipe replacement at $29.99. Not too bad in my opinion, but I hope that they are getting better on the turn around time. I am most like going to purchase one of these and I anticipate only having it re-wiped once after testing, unless, of course, it gets used in a defensive situation whether it be two legged or four legged animals. I travel a lot and hike a lot.
@@thecontemporarygentleman I pulled the trigger on an Aurora II this afternoon after watching your video. They are relatively hard to find but I scoured the net and located one at a dealer in FL. I paid the $399.00 MSRP but it will definitely be worth having.
@@SigmaSheepdog I really do honestly think as a defensive pistol can to protect hearing indoors for yourself and loved ones, it is a good move. Glad you've pulled the trigger and plan on doing some testing of your own. Please let me know the current cost and lead time for getting repacked (if you learn that information).
@@thecontemporarygentleman I will certainly let you know the cost if it goes back to Gemtech. I am going to talk to my dealer about replacing the wipes as he is a Class 07 manufacturer.
March 2024 - price listed on the Gemtech website is still $29.99. Picked up one of theses cans for $99. Would be insane to pay as much to repack the can as it cost to begin with. Hoping to play with this in the coming weeks to see how well it works before sending it back to get repacked. Seems like the perfect can for the bedroom.
Yes and yes. I use one on my bedroom gun still and the other travels with me as a bedroom gun in my hotel room. One hasn't been fired since re-pack and the other has. I'm considering getting it re-packed just to get an updated idea of cost.
Good question, I'm sure fine and I feel like I've seen it on "the gram" on a 22 pistol. Only thing is, that's not real life so I'm not sure. It didn't sound like Gemtech had actually tested it. Again, the real world challenge on this can is enough "umf" to get the bullet through the wipes with a decent MOA and velocity.
@@thecontemporarygentleman i kinda wish gemtec still had the origonal aroua on the martket. Very little was shown to me about the suppressor besides having a somwhat simuler role to the aroua 2
@@trentmorrison6074 the 1st was hardly available to the civilian market and less ergonomic. Granted I've never used one or seen one in person, I did a lot of research and was trying to buy one. Then Gemtech announced the Aurora 2. You can imagine my excitement when I heard about that!
You are hilarious 😂 "at my actual job where I make actual money" there are some real gems in this video. Can someone gut out watching it and string the highlights together?
I dont know where you guys aee getting this wipe thing.....unless something has changed.....again.....you can change out your own wipes, you just cant have spares. You can only replace them 1:1. You oull out ine, destroy it, make a new one. Look it up to confirm, dont just take my word for it. But thats my understanding
Thank you. Outstanding explanation and yips for HD. TML

Love the channel. Keep it up.
I wish they would make a .45 version of this
Like every gun law, it's absurd.
Besides that, I didn't know you could have a pistol suppressor without a booster.
It's a simple matter of power to weight ratio.
Was the sound level on the Aurora comparable to a full size non-wipe/wet can?
No, my CGS Mod9 FS is quieter for sure.
I wonder how well it would do on a 22 pistol.

How many rounds can you run in that suppressor before replacing wipes
15 to 40 depending on the ammo. Average is probably 25 or so
@@thecontemporarygentleman More important is how long the barrel. full size (4.5 -5 inch) lasts 40 or so rounds compared to 15 on a 3 inch.
