Another Realistic Comparison: The TLR7-A vs XC1-B
I finally got mine after a 48 hour approval time … no kidding, only 48 hours. Super quiet, my only complaint is that I can’t get the front end cap off. I wrote CGS, and I’m awaiting a reply now.
All of that is so great to hear! For the end cap, you should be able to get a box wrench on it. Out of curiosity, why do you want it off?
The best way I’ve found to wear the Crye precision is reverse draw. To me it just feels more comfortable of a way to draw . Too each their own though I suppose
Interesting. I can kind of see it.
Thanks for making this video. Been looking for a holster for my MkIV 22/45 Tactical and now I've got this and the TRex Arms SD as options. In your experience, the MKIV locks up pretty solid in it?
Yes it does. And I'm glad you found this helpful!
are the pods individual shutoff?
Yes, in regard to articulation. For general on/off there is just one switch.
How did they perform on your 3 week deal? I am about to order a set
They did pretty well. The only issue that came up was actually a casualty of me not knowing there was a housing update. It was the first update that came very early. So early, most units came standard with the upgrades already done. However, I had unit #66 and was unaware of the update/upgrade. After the field exercise, I sent them in for repair/upgrade at no cost. The upgrade fixed the issues. However, the MH-1s haven't been beat up to the same level as before, so waiting for another opportunity. The primary issue was the screws that hold the housing together were backing out. This meant the contacts weren't connecting and one tube wouldn't come on until I tightened the screws. Part of the upgrade is a new housing that simply uses different screws. So far, everything is good. It was unfortunate as all I did was basically validate their design change by uncovering problems they already knew about and had already addressed. Sorry for the clunky rundown. I hope it was helpful.
Villain cap for the ir makes this unit good…
I've heard good things about that, just haven't tried it for myself.
Using mine on 300 winmag
I'll bet that's awesome. How's it do?
I have the identical setup except my TNVC/surefire light is on my right side. I’m going to try changing it to the left after your video and explaining using it while pistol shooting. That makes more sense now since I have an onboard illumination (MH-1) as well. Thanks for the info.
I'm glad I could help!
Thanks for the video brotha! I have an almost identical setup and love the nods. Scored some in OD green. I fortunately have a battery cap tether and also thought the power seemed strange when compared to my buttons on my older nocturn industry tango housings. I laughed out loud at your comments regarding the asinine argument of “more things to go wrong” and will be saying that in the future hahaha. Great video. Subbed!
Thank you for the feedback! It turned out I hadn't gotten an early upgrade which I've since gotten. This included a retaining deal for the battery cap. Color housing would be cool, good buy! Thank you for the sub!
Solid review! Mine is in ATF jail right now.
@@joshlix4790 thank you! I wish you a speedy release.
I don't know anyone that needs to shoot that many rounds to were the gun gets that hot. To me that just seems like a waist.
It was only 50 rounds and not in quick secession for it to get hot. For a self defense shooting, no, not that many rounds. For practice, 50 minimum, probably 100 is ideal. So it is a little bit of an issue. Some nights I put 250 rounds through my primary pistol. If I'm to make this my primary pistol, that won't work for me very well.
@thecontemporarygentleman 50 rounds is even nothing to say anything about. We are not in a war. Just saying
@donaldgsell1663 I don't understand your point.

@@plamenstoychev2158 it's crazy how often names fly out of my head when I'm staring down a camera lense. If I'm lucky, I catch it when editing and can insert words.
Any comments on the Raid XE + EOTech vs Boss XE?
I can't comment because I haven't even seen a boss XE in person. That said, I don't believe the Boss is holographic, so you'd lose the benefits of that. However, I think the Boss costs $4K which is what the Raid XE does by itself. However, going back the other way, you just don't have the features of the Raid with the Boss. I think the Boss is great for saving space and keeping a low profile. Also, you can have two zeros which is likely the greatest benefit.
@@thecontemporarygentleman It sounds like there is a balance to be made. Can there be compensation for the dual zero with the EO (and mag benefit w/ a holo) vs rail savings. …Fair comment. Sounds like a good video idea.
I'm finding there is always a balance/trade off. There could be some compensation, but that depends on ammo selection. I use the ring and two dot Eotechs which is the same reticle as the 300 blk EOTech. The idea being one dot is for subs, the other, supers. In practice, with the ammo I used, it wasn't even close. One would need two separate dots or two separate optics. Two T2s or a scope and top dot etc. It would be a great video. I'd love to do it one day, but that won't be soon.
What kinda tubes you running?
L3 unfilmed white phosphor.

@@COAL-CRAWLERS not really but the material is a little different and I'm not sure what that means entirely. I don't use them much so they have not seen continued abuse.

LETS GOOOOOO
when u ordered it and when they shipped to you? I ordered one on labour day and they haven’t ship it out.
I ordered this December 9th, 2021. On Dec 28th I sent an email inquiring as to the delay since their site said 5-7 business days. They replied explaining they were waiting on a shipment of inserts. On Jan 17th, 2022 I reached out to follow up as I hadn't heard anything. They replied that nearly the whole company was sick and therefore behind. I replied in an understanding manner. On Feb 2nd, 2022 I got a shipment notification. With a small company, you have to pay to play. I work for a small company and we've never all been sick, but we've been short staffed. I would wait that long again for this holster, I find it to be that good. My only comment to them, would have been to send out emails to update everyone proactively. As far as what's happening in your situation, I have no idea but you might reach out to check in with them. Their responses to my emails were prompt/same day. That is actually a big deal to me and I was impressed.
@@thecontemporarygentlemanthx!
My pleasure! Enjoy the holster!
I have the 556 virtus in 11.5 inch and im thinking of switching to the 9 inch barrel for 300 blackout, are you still liking it? I'm also in the kc area as well.
I am loving it. An additional benefit is the virtus with the 9" barrel is easier to find a backpack for.
Esto es lo contrario a la pistola G2y X
Nice vid, lots of information and given out in a laid back non elitist fashion. Subbed
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you found value in the video! I appreciate the support!
Dumbest shit on UA-cam.
To help eject mags and operate the slide catch with gloves on, get the Glock enlarged slide catch and magazine release. Makes it much more easily controlled while in combat gloves.
That's not the problem. The problem is the magazine catching on my hand.
@thecontemporarygentleman wipe your mags down with a thin glaze of Hopps #9. Do the same to the inner mag well walls. That'll at least make them slide against anything they make contact with more smoothly. Otherwise you may need to go to a 19 or 17. I don't mess with the 45 or any of their newer models with the proprietary magazines. Like the 48 and some of the new gen5s. I went with the 26 so I can use 10, 13, 15, 17, 24, and 33rnd magazines in a subcompact platform. I use a 19 mag with a spacer sleeve and it works out well for me. I've got pretty normal size hands.
So, the 19 mags with the 19 grip is the problem. The 26 grip is okay, even with 19 mags. The issue with the 19 is that the bottom corner of the magazine catches my palm. My work-around is not using a 19.
@thecontemporarygentleman they offer the same setup to fit 17 mags as well. If a 17 mag is too small for your hand. You may need to get a Desert Eagle 😆
Use the 17 mag as a backup, I don't need/care for the covers/spacers.
Use a 19 or 17 mag and a space sleeve
I did try those, didn't care much for them.
Host and ammo are essential ingredients in any suppressor. I look forward to your next installment.
I agree! And thank you!
@@thecontemporarygentleman I went with the ks7 to minimize dimensions with the Salvo. If you choose to make a sequel, the m&p12 may be a better option as it uses remchokes from the factory, so an impact driver isn’t needed.
@@nickolasthefrog good to know, thank you!
Awesome deep dive. This video is a great high level over view and really breaks down a lot of the things I just haven’t seen in other videos about the MCX virtus or even the virtus as a whole. I think the 11.5 for 556 is best too when it comes to how it breaks down , and 6.75 is what I went with because of the couple inches you can shave off (looks) but it also doesn’t hinder your performance especially shooting subs to much , I do agree with you that the 9 is a big sweet spot I kind of regretted selling mine but was very happy with the 6.75” , I do want an LT too though
Thank you for the kind words and so far, the LT is awesome!
@@thecontemporarygentleman I love the channel brother !! Huge fan
Thank you!
As a spear owner I can't speak to the lt but other then I don't have anything that is the same brown every part is a little different in color but the finish has held up so far and a high flow suppressor is a must have
I have a spear LT right now. It's less gassy for sure. I'm currently running an RC2 on it but have a Flow556k ready to mount at a certain round count. And I agree, the finish is better as well.
@thecontemporarygentleman I'm currently running the slx762qd... it actually works well both sound and gas didn't notice any changes gas wise with or without the can and the can definitely made a big difference in performance to the positive
Good to know. Has your election pattern changed going between suppressed to unsuppressed?
@thecontemporarygentleman so if I leave the gas valve in the unsuppresed setting the ejection gose from a 4 to 5 o'clock to a 3 with the can on and if I leave it in the suppressed setting and take the can off the gun will short stroke
Weird, especially because technically they're "normal" and "adverse", no suppression related settings.
I have both the Virtus and Spear LT, the finish on both of mine are great.
UA-cam is absolute garbage. What's the improved version of UA-cam that came out? It's disgusting that in America we can't have a robust rifle video. It's way too communist. Good video and thank you for putting your time and money into it!
I agree, and thank you!

@@ravenbear-eaglelion8830 when pushing your limits and you have a lot of MOLLE employed, that can be dramatic. 12 miles with 50 lbs on your back, oz equal pounds. MOLLE is material and when the army gives you shit covered in MOLLE and you're using pouches attached, I'll bet it adds more than you want. I know it adds more than what I want. Plus, the weight being pushed outward and then pulling down is annoying on a chest rig at the very least. Perhaps you still find all of that asinine. However, I do not. I still hit the gym and having less MOLLE reserves that additional strength for if I need it. I.E., getting a casualty to safety. Is that splitting hairs? I don't think it is based on experience but perhaps your experience is different.
@@thecontemporarygentleman fair enough. The ounces equals pounds argument. I really don’t think MOLLE is adding that much encumbrance to affect overall performance, I’ve hiked 12 with a SAW and 15 with a basic combat load of 50 lbs. The 12 as far more challenging due to the SAW and barrels. I never thought to myself I wish I didn’t have this MOLLE on my PC or LBV. I’ve also never held a really low profile light PC or rig before so I don’t really know the perceived weight savings. I do appreciate the response, regardless carrying weight for miles is humbling to say the least.
And I was being cheeky
Great review. Thanks!
My pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The main feature that I believe makes it superior to the ngal (and the reason I gave up on the ngal) is the ability to turn down the illuminators and laser brightness. If your shooting at distance lots of times the laser and illuminator is too powerful and turning it down to the sweet spot allows you to better see the targer. I guess a second one is that you can literally program that remote to have any setting you want, that's pretty cool.
Indeed!
Dude how do you do it I just got one and cannot adjust illumination or laser Brightness no matter what
@@CR-wy5oi first, are you sure you got a full power? If you are, you remove a screw that prevents the rotating switch/knob from accessing them.
Thank you for this video, I'm having a hard time finding video or photos of the difference between the dual fuel and the turbo. The only thing I would recommend, is maybe better camera placement (some clips were too close and others too far away from you) and turn autofocus off. Other than that thank you for a great review. And sorry if I didn't hear if you say this, did you use CR123s or the rechargeable batteries? And did it come with a charger for the rechargeables
Thank you for the comment and solid feedback! It came with a cord to plug the batteries into any charging component like a wall plug or whatever you want. I did not mention what batteries I used. I used only the 123A batteries. Thank you for the view and comment!
@@thecontemporarygentleman I'm stuck between the DF and DFT. It would go on my 12.5" and live in a rural area. I got the Cloud defensive REIN 3 I love it's flood affect and still punching out at range. Only down side is I can't have it work with a PEQ-15 pressure pad like the surefire can.
I'd go DFT.
@@US_Liberty4LifeWas on the edge too so I decided to buy both
Horrible sound. Do better.
Can you elaborate? Have you seen more recent videos? Are they better?
I love Glocks and I know this has its purpose but that’s an ugly Glock
I love it, but you're entitled to your opinion. Thank you for the comment!
@@thecontemporarygentleman I bet it is the best accurate shooting Glock in existence though.
Define accurate 😉
Good video with good information and thoughts on these lights
Thank you!
I'm waiting on my build with the new revised mh-1. Very excited. Always nice to know any improvements are covered by them and I can just send my housing back for the new parts. Nice to have a future proof housing. Thanks for this!
You got it!
The AR-15 was used by the United States military, so since it was an issued weapon, yes, it was a weapon of war.
So what if a gun is used by a military, just not the US military?
@thecontemporarygentleman The AR-15 was issued as a combat weapon by the United States Department of Defense to military personnel for use in war. What part of "weapon of war" are you not understanding?
My question was based on you specifying the US military issued it. I was asking if something was still a weapon of war if issued by a military that isn't the US's.
@@thecontemporarygentleman That wouldn't make any sense if we only used the United States military. A rock is probably the oldest weapon of war still in used today. 😆
@@JohnLLJ that's what I thought, but you never know what some people are thinking.
Thanks to you got glock47 frame cut to a 26😊
Nice! Good choice!
I had the apial c for a whole two days before returning it, it's garbage. The rais and mawl are yout 2 best options for good civilian lasers.
I have a video on the Raid xe
defdis gl4 pro is the new meta
I'm still learning about it. That said, the Raid XE in incredible. I have a video on that as well.
