I'm rewatching this now, about 35 years ago I had a conversation with an old woman, as we sat on a bench at what had been that Piedmont key system station. She had grown up in Rockridge, and told me about the morning they were having breakfast with Dad before he went over to work in the City for a few days. They felt a moderate quake, not huge, noted it, went out to wave goodbye to Dad on the porch, and noticed the dust rising from San Francisco - April 18, 1906. In Rockridge, it was noticeable but she said it wasn't especially strong. Seeing that block, now or in footage, reminds me of that conversation.
I was walking around the mission in the mid '70s, when my sister lived there, and I was only about 13. I loved it. But I don't remember the cars being so old, then. ;)

Always a special treat. Thank you Prelinger people!!!!
Not enough people know about the Prelinger Library, and how important things like this are too shared memory and a sense of place.
Thank you all again for another fine Prelinger production.
The last few seconds of this film on Great Highway says it all.
