In case you were wondering, the part of the song that’s in “izz slang” tells the story of a dude who wants the rope jumping girls to move so the guys can play basketball, but the girls are having none of it. Then he mentions that his girl plays Double Dutch, which is the part that Missy Elliott sampled.
Here are the lyrics from that bit:
Millze gillzot sillzomebillzody plillzays dillzouble dillzzutch (Me got somebody plays Double Dutch)
Whozzo? (Who?)
My gizzirl! (My girl!)
Brillzing her izzin! (Bring her in!)
Izzo kizzay? (Is OK?)
Izzall rizzight (Is alright)
Izzo kizzay? (Is OK?)
Izzall rizzight! nizzow wilzee wilzill zillzee (Is alright! Now we will see)
Omg thank you! I love the song since I fist heard it as a child, but I never knew what that part said. 🤯 lol
Word has it, this is where Snoop Dogg got his “Fo shizzle, mah nizzle” speech from. Don’t know if it’s true though.
@@gbone1971 It is a speech pattern from Oakland, CA.
@@jeffgyarmathy4837 It's carny. Carny's have been talking this way since at least the 1930s.
The "izz slang" is called Double Dutch, kinda like how there's Pig Latin.
I grew up with this music. I still know every word at 52. Growing up in the south (especially near New Orleans), was such a blessing. So many cultures to share with each other. I miss those days so much. I hate how recent politics have had such a divisive effect on people. Most kids now will never experience how well we blended…..no one was obsessed with being offended, maybe because we had respect for each other as just plain old human beings. The world has gotten so overly dramatic and entitled.
Shreveport, here, and yes, in Louisiana, musical tastes are very eclectic. I feel blessed, also.
@cjmiller6741 Exactly. I grew up in Haughton...74-87, and new every word to his album.
@@craigholt3485 a somewhat local man. Outstanding. Practically, you were right up the street. Double-dutch jump rope competitions were a big thing. Cable tv had just expanded to include MTV and ESPN. Network programmers were desperate because there wasn't nearly enough content to occupy 29 stations. Kind of funny, huh? You know, how video medium has changed.
Visited New Orleans once. Gorgeous architecture and weather. How do you not enjoy such a place 😊
Yeah you right!
PHILLY IN THE HOUSE!! EARLY HIP HOP HIT!! YEAH THAT SLANG CAME FROM PHILLY!!
This song was a HUGE hit in 1981.
So underrated. Totally off the charts.
LOL> Don't you guys envy us from back in the day... He got bars and the moves! The ultimate skating rink song: "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll"
FACTS!! 💯
Do Wah Diddy Diddy by Manfred Mann was the one I remember.
Omg!! 👏👏When we used to go to the clubs, this would come on and the entire bar including the bartenders would get up and do the Double Dutch Bus line dance!!🎶 Such great memories!!🎶🎵🎶💙
I started dancing with this song
You’ve never heard a voice like his? Then you’ve never heard a ‘60’s - ‘70’s DJ by the name of Wolfman Jack! Listen to the band The Guess Who’s song, “Clap For The Wolfman”. It’s all about him!
Great song.
I have clap for the wolfman in my jukebox.
Whatever happened to Wolfman Jack?
I don’t know what happened to him.
i was going to mention Wolfman Jack!!!
How about Root Boy Slim “Christmas At K-Mart”
The first time I heard this was on the school bus blasting from a boom box 💥 🎶
I was 9 years old when I came from Cuba in 1980 and this song was hitting hard back then. I didn’t know anything he was saying but it was so funky, and I love growing up hearing this song for many many many more years to come.
A HIT!!!! Everybody loved this song....and yep, Frankie had BARZ!! A good time!!
CLASSIC 80s roller skating music!
Dance/Funk at it’s BEST!! Infectious and FUN. BIP, BOP, BAM……..What a JAM
The way he speaking in the part Missy sampled is called Pig Latin. It's an actual thing. We used to speak it in High School. It takes a little practice, but it's easy.
Always fun to see you recognize where a sample comes from!
Sample = I can't come up with my own cool stuff so I'll use someone else's. Lazy.
@@chipdamutt108 That's not always the case. Sometimes they're used to pay homage to the original artist.
Everybody wonders where I learned to dance! This guy right here!
I'm 48 years old now. When I was about 11 years old, I was in dancing school and we had to learn dances for a recital. THIS was one of the songs we danced to. I STILL can remember the moves to that dance. I haven't heard this since then. 🤣
my favorite song damn just the beat of this music keeps you just moving and jumping and grooving........................
My childhood!!! ❤❤❤
It's the early 80's all over again for me!! This song was errrthang!!!
My son was 1 year old Every time he would hear it he would dance to it he is now 43 and still dances to this amazing song
Skating to this sing was so fun...great tune
Wow, instantly taken back to my roller skating days, we would have a train running to this song, lots of spinning, jumps, and other moves done to this song...
When we were kids in the 80's it was so much fun to FINALLY learn the words to this song and sing along. We used to all sing, dance and skate to this song at the local skating rink. Talk about an experience!! Skating to this song was the BOMB!!!
Absolutely a skating rink song, it was so fun rexing to this one! Love all the kids in the video, adds a nice touch
YES! I grew up across from a rink. This song was always in rotation along with Queen and any Gap band song, LOL
Yes it was! Free skate!
I’m so happily surprised! I’ve Listened to this one A LOT since I was young! Still do from time to time- seeing this reaction is awesome! Let’s get it!! 💃💃💃💖💙
This song was HUGELY POPULAR back in the day! When Missy sampled it I was excited as you guys!
F I N A L L Y ! ! ! The Double Dutch Bus ! This was a skating rink anthem back in the day.
Ah, you went old school! I remember the entire school bus singing this song acapella on our way home. I couldn't resist dancing and singing along every word! Thanks for this one. It took me back. Our music was so good. Good times.
I love this song--ageing myself here, but I was in jr. high when it was out, and to this day, I can sing it word for word! So awesome y'all discovered this. It makes me smile every time I hear it!
Hey, I'm right there with you. I remember when this song came out. The skate floor would be packed when they played it 🕺💃🕺💃
I was in highschool!!!
😆 to funny me too!!!! Shhhh age.

This was and always will be my cousins favorite song! I picture him be-bopping around and singing!🥰🥰
this is ALSO the inspiration for Snoop Dog's "Fo Shizzle my nizzle."
Takes me back!🎶🎶❤
Lol it’s been a mighty long time since I grooved to this song.
Amazing classic song.
I can't remember the TV show but I remember MC Hammer demonstrating that "izz talk". He said it was big in the Bay Area when he was growing up.
I ain’t gonna lie, I heard this for my first time a couple years ago and thought this song sampled Missy as well. Felt like a fool when I realized it was the opposite. Glad Missy gave props to this funkified gem. Funk has so many layers and avenues, it’s always fun to explore.
This song carries such great memories for me. I think I was 10 or 11 when this song came out. I still play it from time to time. There aren't any fun songs out now.
Life goals should pretty much begin and end with looking as cool as Frankie jumping off the bus at the beginning.
There was another hit double-dutch song in the early eighties: 1983's "Double Dutch" by Malcolm McLaren.
Speaking of Malcolm Mclaren, they should hit some Art of Noise, Adam Ant or and the Ants.
With a cracking video to match.
Lmao, I'm so SHOCKED I remember every word to this song but forget what the blazes I went into a room for🙄🤪🤭
When this song came on the dance floor was PACKED!!!! Great memories. Thanks!!
My gosh 41 years since I last heard this! My friend had the 45 RPM record, and brought it over for me to hear, and I just couldn't believe my ears!
Fun song even more fun watching you react
impossible to not move your head when listening
Oh wow childhood memories from this! I haven't heard this in literally decades, and yet, I remembered all the words immediately! So good! 😀
It's so fun to see the younger people figure out the the best part of the music that you like was taken from the 80's. Yes, it was a great skate song!
love this song. I remember when this first played on the radio in the San Francisco bay area (I think he was from that place?)....and it got a lot of play in the San Jose area that I lived as a kid. Didn't realize it was popular elsehwere. It's awesome. And I love it even more today!
OMG.... This song was EVERYWHERE!!!!
Definitely a big skating rink song. Spent many Friday and Saturday nights in middle school at the skating rink.
In my country, Brazil, despite the fact that most of them don't understand the lyrics, when this song played in the clubs everyone ran to the dance floor and danced to the same choreography.... As you say, wow, VIBE!!!!! I love this song!
I need to go to Brazil
This song was used in the movie "Roll Bounce" perfectly!
Was an awesome skating song at Skateland in Branson, MO. They are still open by the way.😉
Major jam at every roller rink 70s, on every dance floor And jumping rope 👍🤣
Oh my gosh! I forgot all about this song!!! So great!!
We ruined this cassette playing it for our kids on long trips down to the Jersey shore or up to the Poconos (from NYC). Our daughters in particular, were thrilled to be able introduce their Jamaican cousins to a song they'd never heard before.
It is so funny they didn't know they were Frankie Smith fans for so long ! Also funny that most of new songs best parts are exactly the sampled ones !
Gotta listen to Grandma Master Flash - White Lines.
Loved the reaction when you guys realized Missy got her sample from this song, especially Jay's. It pays to have grown up in End of the 60's & 70's, 80's you get hear were current artist get their music from. Definitely skate song, however he was a one hit wonder. Whenever the song came on the radio it was a treat.
Wow! I don't think I've heard that one since 1985. Thanks for the memories. ❤
O - M - G!!! This was in my TOP 5 Favorites to dance to at the Clubs!!!
Thanks for Reacting to this. I have never seen or heard anything like it. It's great!
One of my all time favorite songs!! This was on the radio when I was a kid. We were all double Dutch jump roping at the time. Such a fun song!
I just discovered you guys today, and you both are so delightful. This is legitimately my favorite song and it’s super cool to watch you reacting to it, also cuz not many people seem to remember it when I bring it up. Thank you!
Reminds me of back in the day at the roller rink shuffling tho the old school hip hop lol 😂
Omg! Memories just slammed into me with this song! 🎶
This is a total roller rink classic!!!
This is so dope. Every dance club in the 80's was bumpin' this.
So glad you did this song. Thx
That beat & bass line together!!
On the floor! JAM!
I'm so happy that you young folks love the songs of my generation, they were great in those year, thank you for reaction to this one
I'm an OG when it comes to music and I have never heard any of this.
Omg!! When we used to go to the clubs, this would come on and the entire bar including the bartenders would get up and do the Double Dutch Bus line dance!!🎶 Such great memories!!🎶🎵🎶💙
Truth. When this song was played at the clubs, everybody hit the floor and was singing with it.
While in a dance line, were there specific dance moves that you'd do to this song, or would you do your own dance moves? This song seems to say "do the double dutch" as if its a set of dance moves, but the people around Frankie Smith aren't all doing the same moves. So it makes me think someone invented a dance for this.
@@tigristhelynx7224 the clubs we used to go to had a line dance with specific moves called The Double Dutch Bus...everybody doing the same dance! So much fun!!🎶🎵🎶
Yesss!! Great memories!!🎶🎵🎶
Essa música fez um sucesso louco no Brasil, incrível 🤩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Todo bem?
Great reaction, great song. I don't recall ever hearing it.
This was my song. The reason I dance.
This is a good way to end the day sure made me smile 😊
Aloha Rob Squad!! The Double Dutch Bus was big in Honolulu, Hawaii in the 80's. I used to go after working at night to the night clubs at night to dance in Waikiki!!! Much Mahalo guys!!!!
1959 Marty Robbins El Paso you will love it.
The first song that comes to mind when someone says roller rink music is, Shake Your Groove Thing by Peaches & Herb. Reunited, was their most popular slow song.
This was an awesome skating song back in the early 80's
I used to love this song!!
Yes this was/is one of the greatest Roller Skating songs. Jay the "Lumberjack" song is calling you....
I loved this song when I was a little girl 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The true hip hop heads (like Missy) know Frankie Smith and the Izzo slang is from Philly! We were talking like this as little kids before the song debuted...and our parents hated that we had a language they couldnt understand in the early 80s haha...Respect to Biggie, Jay Z, Snoop for also using it...glad u guys know now too!
A funky classic. Back in 2008 Raven Symone did a pretty good version of this. If you're not familiar with her, she was the youngest daughter on the Cosby show in the 80s and in recent years on that talk show, the view
He be jammin , nice ! Rockin the braids ! 😍😍
Memorizing every word of this song was the challenge of the decade when I was younger. Took me more than a month catching it on the radio and then finally getting a cassette tape copy...🤣😋
Fact: If this is the first song you play every morning while getting ready then you can’t have a bad day.
That's just Science.
Greatest song ever 💯
Classic 80s funks!
LOL, I remember this song! I was in high school in the early 80s, and while I was (and still am) primarily a rocker, I was also a Top 40 fan, and enjoyed hearing some of the current hits of the day. While I'm not sure (without looking it up) if this was a hit single, I am pretty sure this was a hit on the r&b chart, and the local top 40 station I listened to (KIQQ, in L.A.) most definitely played it! I'm pretty sure I haven't heard it since then! At the time, I just thought it was silly, but looking back, I think it's kinda cute! 😅
This was a #30 hit single, and #1 on the r&b chart.
We’ll dance we’ll sing we’ll do the thing..
This was one of the best songs to roller skate to every Friday and Saturday night.
I absolutely love this song ! An early 80's classic.
I was a kid when this song came out…loved IT!!!
This was a one-hit wonder!
You should do One Hit Wonder Wednesdays! There are SO MANY ONE HIT WONDERS!
I'm 57 and still know all the words! Definitely a skating rink song!!! This is the only one of his songs that I know
Can we talk about the culture and how serious double dutch competitions were?? This song meant everything!!
This song got a lot of air play back in the 80s....so much fun!
You two put a smile on my face every time!
