Snowboarding my Favourite run in Alpe d'Huez - The Cheeky Marmotte

- Thanks for joining me again for some virtual snowboarding from the comfort of your sofa! During this lockdown period I'm unable to go riding but have dug out some head-cam footage I took in February. This is one of my favourite runs in all of Alpe d'Huez because it is a super long and varied piste. It starts off from the top of the Marmotte 2 chairlift and begins on the black piste Clocher de Macle. Next it joins onto Red piste Lievre Blanc, then Blue run Couloir, and comes down towards the DMC lift on Green piste les Jeux. From here it is a short skate to the top of the final Blue piste Village, which takes you all the way down to Huez at 1500m.

Thanks for being considerate on the greens! It was my first season this year and I got spooked a bunch of times on the greens by some people, I actually got clipped on my second day.
Ah that's the worst, I spend alot of my time teaching beginners on the greens so I hate it when people whizz past close by!

Hi MM - I like hearing your thought process on your actions on this run. I've seen a few of your vids (and subscribed). Good job. For next season, I'd like to see some angles of your feet and board intercut with your POV angle - if possible. I think that would be helpful to visualize what you're explain too. Thanks for the content during this self isolation times we are having!
Ah that's a great idea, this video was more of a trial but I will definitely work on these a but more next season as well as making more tutorials. Thanks for the support and hope you're staying safe at the minute!

Something so satisfying about watching this! Despite living in the alps it sucks for all the pistes to be shut so early! (But totally understandable)

Great video Malcolm! Been re-watching a lot of your content now that we'll finally be hitting the slopes again. Hopefully heading to Alpe D'huez for the first time in a couple of weeks too so really appreciate how you explain the runs relative to stations & slope maps, thanks for that! Well done Malcolm - great talk through and I like the way you left the ground noise on the sound track. I’m in Scotland - got my last day boarding last Sunday before the country closed down. Alp French thingy looks great - will go next year.
I hope I don't jinx it for you but I believe conditions in the alps should be alot more reliable than up in Scotland! Would love to ride up there though looks really cool, got a few mates up that way too.
Scotland is a brilliant place but come for the hospitality not the snow - after Alpe d'Huez what we have will be a tad dissapointing.

Only found your channel about a week before all the resorts shut down, but was able in that time to put some of your advice to work. And it definitely got me changing onto my new edge quicker, thinking about torsional flex, and beginning to feel the fun of leaving behind a clean line in the snow. Looking forward to more. I worked a few winter seasons in the alps. The memories come flooding back, watching out for a passing line ahead so as to not upset people taking a more leisurely pace.

Greetings, of course Alpe d'Huez is very famous with the Dutch, I've cycled it many times too. Were you here for the Alpe d'Huzes?
Malcolm Moore Yes. I learned skiing in Chamrousse, a skiing resort close to Alpe D’Huez, so me and my dad went to Chamrousse to cycle to the village (Chamrousse 1700) as a practice for Alpe d’Huez and a few days later did Alpe d’Huez itself. I was 14 years old so it was quite an experience haha.

BTW, I'm a beginner, been on the slopes just 3 times. Thanks to your video on torsional flex, I was able to link turns quite comfortably on my 3rd time, and tackle long narrow blue runs without losing control! Can't thank you enough for that! Keep em coming man

I also love to start from marmotte 2 ! But I prefer take the red slope, really funny you have couloir, moguls, hills, wild place... Definitly my favorite. I never try to go to huez, I will try next year for sure ! Thank you !
Nice one... I'm in the kitchen in Slovakia.. I love top to bottom runs.. And my favourite is the lower blue taboo run to car park lower than resort.. No queues and soft full of side hits one after the other.. So a side hit tour of a run out there.. I was scoping hits during the video haha
Yeah spring is the time when the side hits normally get really good, such a shame we're missing it! Oh well, next year!

Well you asked, so I'm watching this from my home PC in Finland. Before you get jealous, I live in southern Finland, so the closest ski-resort that *doesn't* suck is at least 300 kilometers away up north.
Anyway, hoping to some day get to ride at Alpe d'Huez myself, or whatever other great places the Alps might have to offer. Thanks for the video!

Watching from Durham, I went on a ski trip there last winter. This trip pretty much marked the start of my relationship with my girlfriend, so watching you carve down those slopes brings back some fantastic memories.

I just paid 82 dollars to go to my local resort and there was one lift open... To midway. Took me 1 min and 38 seconds to get to the bottom.
And tHere were beer cans everywhere.
And a guy in a belly-shirt.

This is also my favorite run at the Alpes d’Huez, except that I love also to go left where he goes straight at 1:00 and you get to a nice little passage out of the piste with many bumps, I love it so much !

My first time driving in Europe (That wasn't in a carpark) was driving down those 21 bend in a minivan I'd spent about 10 minutes in. Once I got to the bottom I pulled over and had to just get out I was so tense XD
After a few weeks though I got the hang of those bends XD
Great material to get us through these times - 8:10 looks perfect for laying a few trenches

Yeah was hoping to make these kind of videos for all the famous runs in the Alps this year, but all ski resorts in france are shut this winter and I cant be hopping borders with everything going on! Next season for sure though!
